fwiw, how to use this CAT18 4g router on other networks

    ispreview.co.uk/tal…85/

I'm informed by the ebay seller the RJ11 phone ports don't work with call SIMs. (edited)

Is this for for use with a SIM card?

I could do with something like that for a 1 month contract when i'm at the caravan, or is this for plugging into a phone line?

If you click on"see full description " on Seller's deal page you will find :" THREE 4G+ HUB ROUTER. 600MBPS DOWNLOAD SPEEDS (WHITE)

    + 2 x SMA ANTENNAS

    • WILL WORK WITH ANY THREE SIM CARD THAT HAS DATA
I think you can also use MVNOs like Smarty, ID
Its probably bit fiddly to insert sim card but can be done. (edited)

Can you please guys point out the advantages of using such device comparing to just make a hotspot with your mobile phone? Excluding the obvious 5G-4G difference and drain of battery.

    Thank you!

    It will have better range.
It's cheaper than a phone at 30 quid. You can leave your house with your phone vs this just stays on in your house.
My phone hotspot cuts out if I get a phone call also whereas this won't.
This can replace your internet permanently with a phone Sim cost (10/month?). (Ping and speeds not great but for some people living remote this may be the best option honestly).
It's mobile. You could bring it to anywhere with power, use it in a campervan etc.

Or might just be an easy way to have internet in a shed, or e.g. farm animal shed a distance away.

If you have dedicated broadband it's not really much use. The cases I mention are 0.01% of population and there are other solutions like mesh, long lan cables etc

For me it would be 1hr of fun hacking it to work with another phone service, then sit in a box for 10 years until I have internet outage and remember it but 4g probably barely exists anymore and 10g is everywhere. (edited)

I'm curious to see how this will compare with their Huawei B535 router, especially in terms of download speeds, I currently use a B535 and an external Poynting antenna.
    adrianooo's avatar
I've switched from B535 to this one and it's a massive improvement with speed, from an average 40 to over 100 Mbps now

Does anyone know of a cheap 5g solution? My three router has died and they won't help me with it. Best alternative solution I've been able to come up with is tethering the sim from my phone

They aren’t cheap looking at eBay around £100-150. Bit expensive. Maybe from China would be cheaper.

Can I use any data sim with this, or does it have to be Three ?
    Carl_cr's avatar
Think you can get them unlocked
  9. sadsacdeals's avatar
    That's slower I think

Has it replaced something and given you a faster connection?

Inserted a Lebara sim in to my grade C (really looks brand new) router and after going through the 'wizard' (no hacking), I was online via Lebara.
LTE signal led was showing red, however I got 15M/11M down/up, so not complaining.
    CaptainRogers's avatar
Is the wizard in built and do you know why the MBs are that low?

Using Three standard 4G router. Not in a 5G area.

Wonder if the Three 4G+ router will help?

    Thanks.

Wish I’d known about this deal before signing up to 24m bb contract with 3.
Out of cooling off period now.

Also that can purchase 3 4g+ router and put a smarty 30 day rolling sim in.

How are people's experiences with this?

I haven't got one yet, but it's still the same price.
