The Tojiro 3 Piece Magnetic Rack Set (Chef's, Oriental & Utility Knife) is part of the Sha Ra Ku Mono range which has a distinctive angular pattern, to call back to the traditional Samurai sword, whilst the black dot motif in the handle represents a row of urban windows. The set includes the Tojiro Sharaku Mono 20cm Chef's Knife (FJ-11), Tojiro Sharaku Mono 11cm Utility Knife (FJ-07), Tojiro Sharaku Mono 15cm Oriental Knife (FJ-04) and Rockingham Forge Magnetic Wooden Knife Rack - Black Cherry 30cm

The Tojiro factory in Niigata Japan aspired to produce a commercially successful knife that would be accessible to professional and amateur chefs alike. Their strategy saw them link up with the most famous of Japanese housewares designers, Komin Yamada who also designed the Global G knife series (including the famous G2 Cooks Knife) to produce a series of quality yet value Japanese knives. The result was the development of the Tojiro Sha Ra Ku Mono series, made from a Molybdenum Vanadium steel to offer superior cutting performance and durability.

The knives feature an elegant and stylish sweeping design evoking the history of the traditional Samurai katana sword. The handles of the knives are made from stainless steel and are hollow, making these knives feel extremely light. Tojiro Sha Ra Ku Mono knives are good value for a range of high carbon Japanese steel knives and have a hardness of 56 HRC.

Well a magnetic rack is only £3.99 in Lidl, the scissors are "free", so that's £33 per knife
    Is that a good price?

Tojiro make great knives, these use an entry level steel (Molybdenum Vanadium) that's still as good as many Wusthofs, Victorinox etc. although I've never used this partiular design, I have knives that use this steel.

56 Rockwell is quite soft for a knife, although better than many cheap ones like ProChef that are often only 52-53. For home use it should be a good balance between holding an edge and being malleable enough not to chip/shatter if dropped etc.

They will require occasional sharpening, a little more frequent than a harder knife but nothing major.

The knife rack is a decent wooden one that would set you back £15-20 and the scissors are a nice bonus.

I'd buy them if I was after a set of knives for home, I probably wouldn't use them for work as the volume of knife work would require very frequent sharpening.

Any recommendations on what to buy to keep them sharp, please?

A 1000/3000 stone and a honing steel will be plenty. I use an Amazon own brand stone and a victorinox steel, if you want to spend a bit more a King stone is worth a few quid more.

The stone takes some practice, the steel is just to realign the edge between sharpening.
