Bought three of these a year ago for chaining some outdoor lighting together. MCB went pop and tracked it down to the outside lights. All three of these had let an awful lot of water in, even with the cable seal inserts

I just grabbed (Missed the last deal price at £16) this a few days ago at this price, down from £24
Great bit of kit for the Garden electricals and has a really good inner space for most all adapters.Well worth this price.

cool, the extension lead looks like a stanrad cable or is it outdoor rated ?

Thank you, I've been looking to buy one of these boxes, the 8m extension will be useful too

I tried something similar to this years ago and it was rubbish.

I now tend to buy a plug, cable and 2x2 format socket separately.

Been drilling holes in a decent empty 2L ice cream tub and had no real water ingress when use in a fairly permanent setup.

The problem with water ingress is most will not mount these to a surface.. If you surface mount these box`s to a wall or fence as they are supposed to be used...Then you will more than likely Never get any form of water ingress Should be a warning on the instructions me thinks and if install any other way Then Expect problems. I’ve had water ingress problems. Mine weren’t wall mounted.
I guess if wall mounted then any ingress would drain out whereas with it flat on ground it can’t drain. So it just slowly fills up.
Thanks for your helpful tip. I will try that.

These are sadly not very good as previously stated and let tons of water in!

I upgraded to one of these (albeit for a single socket) and it's been going strong for 5 years:
