I've got a load in the kitchen that've started sprouting for free.

    Best get planting them soon

if no garden to plant them in, get a £1 builders bucket, drill holes in the bottom , half fill with compost then put 2 or 3 potatoes in, equally spaced, then top up with compost, keep them outside and water when needed, free spuds (edited)

Planting dates are just ideal guidelines. If you get bulbs in now they will grow. They will just be ready a bit later or not grow quite as big. At 10p a pack its definately worth a go. I just picked up some seed potatoes from my local Wilko. Will plant them in a couple of large buckets today and should have a nice little crop by the end of August.

Think you’re a bit optimistic thinking they’ll be ready by end of august.

Usually take anywhere between 3 and 5 months to grow, so middle of September at the earliest

The ones in our local store are in a really bad state now (shoots 6" long and seed like dried raisins with flies around them)... only good as compost.

I dug a load of new sized potatoes out two weeks ago and planted some Tesco organic spuds straight from the bag. they are coming through now so will at least have a new batch of new potato size Oct or maybe a little bigger.

How do you click and collect? Shows in stock at local but can't collect
    NuffinisFree's avatar
You can only click & collect if your store has stock.
Personally I would not order for click & collect as they dont check the quality of the stock.
If you can visit the store that would be better
