Got this set in 2019 (for a then bargainous pre-pandemic £150 so this is a great price!) so this is its 5th Summer of service and it's been faultless even though I don't in any way look after it!

One thing I did when I got it and would definitely recommend is sold the original batteries (got £28 each for them on sphock or whatever it is called) and bought some 5AH compatibles for £33 each. Transforms the mower's usability no end. The compatibles have also been faultless. It doesnt say in the blurb but the dual charger is a fast charger so not a huge wait for the 2 batteries to charge up.

    Heat added. (edited)

Yep, in September 2019 I paid £135.99 from Amazon, and likewise it's been faultless, but the standard batteries don't last long in the mower at all.

I picked up some 5aH from eBay for £29/each which made it usable rather than only cutting a strip of grass!

But I will say I have found my 5aH compatibles sometimes don't like it if I take them from the charger and put them straight into the mower together... I occasionally have to put them into the strimmer, start it, and then the batteries also work in the mower. Not entirely sure why this occurs mind you!

This is a bargain. I picked one of these up and it does a really good job. It’s light weight and I can get about 300m2 out of the battery.

I am able to get this done (approx 180sq m) on one charge. However that is only if I stay on top of it once a week. If needs a deeper cut I have to get my second set of batteries out. Pretty pleased with it though. I paid £170ish.

I ordered this last week. It’s a good little mower. Fairly light and does a decent job. However, I’m sending it back. I have a small/medium sized lawn at approx 110m2 (I only know as I turfed it a few months back). I can get a cut on the supplied batteries on medium. Anything lower and the batteries need charging. Also, not great on damp grass. Eats battery life and not good at picking up clippings when damp.
Going to opt for a petrol mower. Want one with a roller. Any suggestions most appreciated!

Like I said earlier, the best course of action is selling the original batteries and buying 5-6ah compatibles. Totally transforms this mower's usability. Net cost for me was £10.

As I look after the lawns of 2 elderly neighbours as well as mine, I can get through the 6 lawns on one charge. Granted they aren't by any means large lawns. (edited)

I see the comments about the battery being inadequate on the mower, but how long are we talking here? I only need it to run for like, twenty minutes tops. (edited)

You'll be fine, I have kept the original battery's and they last longer than 20mins

Bargain. I got mine a couple of years ago. Bought a couple of bigger, compatible batteries. Never had any issues.

I did the same, got 2 bigger Batteries and sold the originals. 1 charge does front and back lawns.

These are the ones I got (edited)

I have this kit from a few years back. I think it's great for the money. If you only have a small lawn it's perfect, it did the whole lawn front and back at my old house.

At the new house, it's no good for the back lawn which is too big - I use a petrol mower for that. But the petrol mower is very heavy and so difficult to turn.

I use this battery mower on the front lawn which is smallish and oddly shaped - much easier to turn as it weighs almost nothing (i do it one -handed!) and therefore much quicker than the petrol mower (or a corded mower) would be.

For anyone looking for an actual mower, look at gumtree first, there are lots and lots of them there, listed almost weekly, often free or costing a third of that at most, non battery obviously but electric or petrol are absolutely fine, got my petrol one free few years back, still works like new, use about a litre or two of petrol per year.

Does anyone knows where can I find more powerful batteries to replace? & which batteries are compatible?
    gravy_davey's avatar
From what’s been said in the comments here: search Worx WA3551.1 on eBay or Amazon.

That mower is 20v vs this one which is 40v. Don’t know what that means in the real world but safe to say it’s less powerful.

This seems like a good deal OP, especially with the additional discount, but the reviews are mixed. Doesn’t seem like a very powerful machine and struggles with damp grass and longer grass - with UK weather I suspect most will be mowing grass when damp, or if waiting til it’s dry the grass will be long! After market upgrade batteries seems like a decent workaround but adds cost, soooo…. Will suit some people but definitely not others. (Not me, due to large lawns front and back - I’ll stick with me petrol mower! Please don’t tell Just Stop Oil though ️).

If you sell the originals for anything like I got for them you are probably looking at a net cost of a tenner!

My mother has the strimmer in this package and I’ve been very impressed with it. She has a very large garden and the single battery does the whole lot. Hopefully the lawnmower is just as good!

The mower is fine but obviously burns way more juice than the strimmer so even though it uses both the batteries don't expect miracles using the supplied ones. I'm very glad I got the 5 AH compatibles! (edited)

    I don't know if it's any good but it's £240 in Argos

Had a 40v 2.5ah mower before and it was just frustrating. If you want as close to a real mower as possible it has to be 80v 5ah, double the power and double the run time. Battery life was more annoying than the power, so if you do want to save some money, I'd definitely agree with changing the supplied batteries for 5ah, if you have anything bigger than a tiny garden that only takes 15mins to cut. Mu parents have these, although adequate for there small garden mu ryobi 18v mower well outlasts it on just one 4ah battery.

Be warned, I returned 3 of these exact mowers as each one failed after 2-3 uses. Their warranty support teams are nothing short of abusive. Several known faults with the mower including a failed motor and batteries. WORX = cheaply made plastic moulded Chinese branded goods.

There are much better battery powered mowers available (Makita, Einhell, Hyundai, DeWalt, Milwaukee) - WORX is not worth it, even at this price! (edited)

I’ve got lots of Worx tools and have had no issues. Reliable, affordable and seem to last.

I got this in 2019 for £135. Not bad, the strimmer is good, but the mower does generally struggle unless it's on Turbo and the grass is relatively short and dry. Now looking for a second-hand petrol one.

If you are near a closing homebase, they have this set for £149.25. Newport had stock this morning.
    djp2k8's avatar
    £143.28 though!

I just got this 3 weeks ago. The mower does feel like a little toy but does the job. Its useful for odd shaped gardens as it is easy to manouvre.
And the battery just about lasts my front and rear garden taking about 15 to 20 minutes.

Cant comment on long term reliability, but so far at the price I am happy with it.
    The strimmer is fine also.

Does this mower use two batteries at a time?
    christopher's avatar
    Yes
  21. gravy_davey's avatar
Not used this yet but seems good quality. Quite a bit heavier and more rugged than the battery mower it’s replacing. Guy I picked it up from said these mowers are bomb proof and Worx is a good make. Time will tell I guess.

Got this recently. Did a good cut and the strimmer is great. I'll be selling off my Mount field petrol mower as I'm fed up with it - too bulky, unreliable to start, often needs maintenance.
