Full List of Shops Extending Returns Policies for Christmas

On September 14, Xbox Live Gold members will automatically become Game Pass Core members, with no change in pricing, and have immediate access to a new library of over 25 high-quality games.

Member deals & discounts will also be part of Xbox Game Pass Core. Games with Gold will come to an end on September 1.

Players can continue to access any Xbox One games they previously redeemed through Games with Gold if they remain a Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate member.

Regardless of subscription status, any Xbox 360 titles redeemed via Games with Gold in the past will be kept in a player’s library.

Our launch collection of more than 25 titles from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and our content partners will offer something for everyone to play on their Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. Today we’re confirming the following titles for launch*, with more to be announced in advance of September 14. New titles will be added 2-3 times a year.

How is this a hot deal when it's basically the end of a deal ? 6 months Gold now is £16 which is £2.6 a month, going forward it will be £9.99 a month, I don't see why people are voting this hot when MS is literally making everything more expensive, even current Gold to Ultimate has been screwed with a 3:2 conversion so 6 months is only 4 months and that is going away completely with this change, so best get those Golds converted at the new gimped rate before September otherwise no more good deals on Ultimate

The price isn't changing. $9.99 doesn't mean £9.99. It'll still be £6.99 a month for Game Pass Core.

As for getting 6 months for £16, that's third party sellers. There's nothing to suggest you won't be able to buy Game Pass Core codes just like you do now with XBL Gold.

This is what always baffled me about the people online saying that the deal was great, that it now meant "COD WOULD BE FREE ON GAME PASS!"
Eh, 1 - Gamepass isn't free.
2 - A business has zero plans in spending 70bn on something without planning to recoup those costs, so those subs are going to go up/change about so that we get less or pay more.

It has been consistently considered as inferior by the majority ever since Sony finally got around to releasing it, so I doubt you'll get many rises with this. Between being more expensive, streaming-only back compat and the removal of the PS Plus Collection, I'd find it hard to justify how it's better overall. They're both flawed but I find Game Pass better value overall and let my PS Plus expire.

Can't see it surviving; it doesn't make sense to offer free upgrades from core to ultimate. It did kind of when it was gold to gamepass.

Probably a good idea to stock up now.

Game pass ultimate members lose out on games per month yet are now paying more monthly.

Xbox Gold is better than core, even with gold giving the reduced two games per month instead of four (and the free to keep xbox 360 games) but with occasional free third game through region swaps is way better than going to a fixed list of games imho.

Think I'll be done with any kind of console subscription when my ultimate runs out so it's money saved in the long run through Xbox watering down their services.

We're definitely not renewing the couple in our house when they expire. The last, which has time to run, is likely to not be renewed either.

It's likely to push us all to another vendor.

Microsoft had appeared ro be doing so well, but deep down, I new it was only a matter of time (even though they've tried a few times the past couple of years with poor changes).

Maybe, but the weekly ones that require to play a certain game or task will not work as they will be for games likely to not be on the "core" service. It all depends if the "core" package allows access to the app in the 1st place.

You get to keep all GWG xbox 360 games even if you stop your subscription, but GWG xbox one game were only ever availible as long as you subscribe, it has been like that since the xbox one launched, this is not new.

I don’t think you can add live whilst gpu is active, you had to wait for it to expire. I believe ms also changed the conversion rate from 1:1 to 3:2

I've got 3 years worth of Gold codes I bought 2-3 months ago (£12.79 or something for 6 months) if anyone wants to buy them off me for cost... My GPU runs out in Jan 2024 so was hoping to convert again but now seems like there's no point. If I make a new account I only get effectively 1.5 years of it rather than 2.5 (edited)

Microsoft is always looking to change things to make more money you can't upgrade to gamepass without automatic subscription being turned on so hoping people forget to turn off I was going to buy the deal on my xbox front page but I just can't be bothered anymore

Totally pointless. What, they’re expecting anyone on the fence to think “wow, look at those 25 games!” and subscribe, when you can have full Game Pass Ultimate for the price of Gold and one month’s GPU subscription? Or maybe they’ll stop this loophole and expect us to pay full price….in which case it’ll give me the excuse to let my GPU run out, as it’s 85% full of crap anyway.

Dont praise them for this. They never had any intention in making CoD exclusive to Xbox. The whole reason they're buying Activision is because they're very profitable and will look good on the Xbox division financials. Taking CoD off its most popular platform would completely destroy the point of what they're doing.

This is very much unlike their reasoning for buying up Bethesda, which absolutely *was* to make their games all exclusive to Xbox going forward cuz they knew the state of their 1st party studio output was just terrible and needed to make a dent in the 'exclusive list wars'. Which is why anybody who tries to say that Microsoft doesn't see themselves in a 'console war' is just straight up fooling themselves. That was a HUGE console war move. (edited)

lol at the Core list of games. Largely very cheap stuff; I imagine most of us own half of those or more. I'm glad that I've never really been big into playing games online.

And for those questioning the heat (and I agree): Anything MS-related will get bucketloads of heat on here for obvious reasons.

Awesome deal for core members...no doubt they will rotate the games as well but not very often...I can see stuff like when Forza Horizon 6 comes out, they may upgrade the core version to 5.
Also notice Console Gamepass doesn't get Online MP...some people actually complaining about that elsewhere...like that's been the case since GP started

This is good news overall, while we lose GWG most months were sub-par in all honesty, just stacking up games you'd probably never play. For Gold subscribers this gives them a collection of older games that are more likely to be played.

When I bought series s I paid for 3 years of GPU and mine runs out in December 2025 only paid £80 converting gold to ultimate but to be honest I don't use it as much as I thought I would and I prefer to buy physical games on my PS5 , if the cheap conversion disappears I don't think I will continue with gpu when mine runs out

Yes, that's correct. Gamepass option does give access to day one Microsoft games as well as all other Gamepass games apart from EA Play.

Gamepass Core is 25 games which most are years old now. And looks like they may be update 2 or 3 times a year.

Are most people thinking of topping up their existing GPU before September, with concerns that the conversion will disappear? I currently have 20 months left, and am thinking of stacking up on 3 months golds and converting to 50 days each, to fill me back up to 36 months. Is this the cheapest way?

6 months Gold is now showing as £16.79 - the days of cheap Gold codes may be ending.

Before if you had many months left on GPU it made sense to wait for it to expire to get 1:1 conversion - but with Game Pass Core coming and now the ratio is already 3:2 (very close to the 50 days from 3 months if extending) it might be worth thinking about extending instead.

It’s still not bad to convert it to be honest. It’s now on a 3:2 ration instead of 1:1 so obviously not as good but considering you can get a years gold for £40, it works out £60 a year for two years if you do 3 years of gold conversion for game pass ultimate. That’s the cost of a single AAA game per year which to me is still worth doing, I don’t buy a lot of games outside of gamepass and definitely none at full price.
