A corruptive presence has invaded the Federal Bureau of Control and only you have the power to stop it. Keeping it simple and putting YOU in Control with Free Play Days! Control is available this weekend for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play.

Review:

After a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, you become the new Director struggling to regain Control.

From developer Remedy Entertainment, this supernatural 3rd person action-adventure will challenge you to master the combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments while fighting through a deep and unpredictable world.

Control is Jesse Faden’s story and her personal search for answers as she grows into the role of the Director. The world of Control has its own story, as do the allies Jesse meets along the way. Jesse works with other Bureau agents and discovers strange experiments and secrets.

In its essence it is not free as it requires a paid subscription.

The main story is easily completed in a weekend and I managed it in around 10 hours.

It's got a short storyline so ideal for anyone who can fit a couple of long sessions in. (edited)

Dunno what game you played chap but I played this for 40 hours, loads of content and one of the games of the year in 2019. 25 -30 hours main game and 10 hours on the DLC. (edited)

This is just the last gen version rather than the newer Enhanced X/S version. Just for info.

Yes, this is the last gen version and apparently it has loads of performance issues with frame rate dropping constantly - and the target frame rate is 30fps. The Series X enhanced version is a separate game. It's the Ultimate Edition which by default runs @ 60fps but it also has a 30fps option if you want to turn on ray-traced reflections. I have this version and play with RT on. It looks odd without RT, I think.

Didn't enjoy this much. It had a nice atmosphere, but the bullet spongy enemies got tiresome.
    Felt like a tech demo

    All surface. No substance.

Really liked this game, it has a lot of atmosphere even if the plot isn't always easy to follow. Its one that if you enjoy it, I'd take slow rather then blitz through and treat it like an action game. The ultimate edition is always coming up on sale so a good chance to test it and see what its like.
