Purchased one in Jan 2024. Been using it for 3 months. My 5 year old daughter now has it and loves it. In my time using it, BBC iPlayer, Prime Videos, NetFlix whilst commuting. The device looks cool and never seemed to be sluggish. (I don't play games though). iPad has clearly got a better screen, but here you're paying 25% the price of an iPad and getting a device which in my view is 80% as good as one.

The iPad will feel faster. However, I believe support may be running out for the 2018 iPads in a few years, so, that’s something to consider. If buying for YouTube and media consumption, I expect the iPad to more fluid and more useful for more years, even after support officially ends
