Uber taxi

Is the price it shows for the journey is the price you pay. Because they take payment from your card can they not charge more like example if you get stuck in traffic and takes longer

I once took an Uber in Krakow and the driver deliberately took a route twice as long as he should have. The fee I paid was a lot more than the app initially estimated so I registered a complaint and got money back!

Uber is pretty good that way as they have the actual tracking information.

The have a multiplier at peak time can be 4 times the price or more. (edited)

They no longer show it in my experience, has been a few years. Everything is now built into the estimate. (edited)

So is the fare just a estimate

There are a few extra fees for some things such as being late / having the driver hang around. Damage to the car can also come with a charge. Unsure on traffic as far as I'm aware the price is set.

Prices should be fixed, imagine a pub/ charging more when busy.

Demand & Supply based pricing is hardly new - airlines, trains, etc have been doing it for a very long time. Amazon does it as well with frequent price changes.
