Why Can't New Members Send Private Messages

I only just joined and have agreed to purchase something. However, the seller contacted me via PM and I cannot reply because I am a new member. How am I supposed to complete a purchase when I cannot speak privately to the other member once we have agreed a sale? Unless we post addresses and bank details on the public thread, we cannot communicate. Could you let me know how I can complete this purchase without publicising all my details??

you only need to make ten posts to use the pm system

You can post in the thread once a deal has been agreed asking the established member to send you all the details required for verification/completion of trade. As you can receive PM's you would then be able to complete the exchange via email (or PM once you have reached the required number of posts).

Ok, I'm in a worse position than this.
I'm new to this so can't pm, the seller is also new so also can't pm me.
Should we just chat back and forth to get to ten posts so we can pm? or does the ten need to be ten new posts.
Sorry for this criticism but you have something wrong in your level of security here.

Well - I'd say two brand new HUKD members passing good/money between themselves is maybe even not a situation we want to encourage.

If you're confident in the legitimacy of the other party and their feedback then yes you'd need to make some forum posts so you can pass that info.

Just post replies to random deals until you get enough posts.

Make them constructive though, not random 'lol's' and stuff

As the seller has contacted you via PM, and I assume the trade has been agreed in the thread, all you have to do is post back in the thread asking for the seller to PM you the standard verification details as per the trading rules and advice.

You can then return the details via the email address that the other member has supplied to you via PM.

Do however have a read at the full rules and ensure you're content to trade on the basis of the verified information you will have exchanged.
