Asus Radeon DUAL RX 480 GDDR5 4GB OC VR Gaming Graphics Card £154.99 at awd-it
Found 21st Feb 2017Found 21st Feb 2017
Bloody good price for an RX 480. Quite ridiculous how cheap it is to get great performance at 1080p :)

I have used the oc feature but it just makes the card louder with very little fps benefit . I run my games at 1080p Doom on ultra vulkan api. Gta v on a mix of very high/ultra. Borderlands 2 maxed out and Rise of the tomb raider on high. getting over 60 fps most of the time with few drops below that.

Thank you very much for the good news! May I just ask what settings you are running these games? And also if you are using the OC feature and overflocking the card?

I finally got mine on wednesday. So far everything seems fine.(besides a weird pink cast to the screen when I initially installed the drivers this went away went I rebooted my pc). So far I have played a few hours of GTA V and a few hours of Rise of the tomb raider fallout 4 and Borderlands 2 with no problems. Doom on the other hand was a bit of a problem it would crash on startup but a reinstall fixed that. I have found Steam in home streaming is being a bit picky with the games it will work with. On My 1050ti all my games worked via in home streaming but with the rx480 some just won't play nice.

Can someone please confirm that they got this card and it works fine? There are a number of people who bought the 8GB model from the same site and are posting that they had issues with the card turning off under high loads when playing games.

I knew it, they sent me a email stating because of weather conditions its delayed, what the hell, cancelling my order and ordering with Overclockers, they state it will be delivered tomorrow if i order within the next 1 hour., its £10 more but you get Doom 2016 anyway.

thank you for the answer, i purchased a 4GB version.

4gb is enough for any game on the market. As long as you don't mind turning down some settings in game such as shadow detail and ambient occlusion you can run games with very high frame rates.

One question before i order between the 4GB vs 8GB I play H1Z1, CS:GO, would 4GB be enough, I dont mind having to ugrade in 2 years time, but for now is 4GB enough for those games? thanks

yes they are go for it

The Title Explains All ALL OUT OF STOCK NOW!!!

Because alot of these types of "stores" don't carry actual stock, they all ship from a referred supplier which offers them a cut. A lot of the time, the item in question will be oversold because of outdated pricing (onstop/zippy) then cancelled once the supplier comes back with a no go on price.

how come all these stores look alike?

transparent UK have 7.9 on trustpilot also - http://transparent-uk.com/asus-dual-rx480-o4g-radeon-rx-480-4gb-gddr5.html

Thanks for that, I looked this morning as I remembered you posting it at the beginning of the thread, but there was no add to basket button. Just completed order, we'll see if it tutns up tomorrow. Thanks once again. Looks like a supplier pricing error maybe, all these stores listing then cancelling, Zippytom cancelled too. Suppose I'll wait until 28th Feb and see what transpires.

I'm in the same position - will be hanging onto the card for a good few years so would like to future proof as much as possible. If I could save a bit of cash and not really notice any performance difference then I'd go for this card, but still thinking 'well it's only another £20 for a 1060'.

Is the best deal for the RX480's for the next couple of weeks? I was thinking of getting this but I only have a 500W psu so perhaps I should go for the RX470 version of this card which is £180 on amazon.

Oh look, another car-crash GPU thread. It's like all the stupid on the internet condenses on HUKD.

depends if you can sell your current card. It's around a 70% performance boost but personally at 1080p i wouldnt bother with an upgrade until Vega by that point your VRAM at 4 gb might be limiting and an upgrade is much more worthwhile.

I'm trying to work out if this would be a worthwhile upgrade from an R9 380 4gb model. Any ideas?

Strongly disagree.

You are being overly pedantic at no benefit to anyone. In fact, I would suggest the name "Graphics Card" and GPU have been completely interchangeable when talking computer components for years.

I appreciate being taught things and corrected if I am wrong. If I thought a GPU was a graphics card but someone explained that is it just a component then I would be grateful. I suppose HUKD is a thread. Take care.

Hoover is a brand name and a vacuum is a device. Are they remotely similar? Calling a device a brand name is equally as bad as calling a graphics card a GPU, if not more? Yet people do say it here and most know exactly what it means and generally accepted. Right? Or do you go around having the same discussion with people you meet that do call a vacuum a hoover. Seems a waste of time if you ask me. Unless you enjoy being a troll. Toasty of course.

Rx 480 is miles ahead, rx 480 = gtx 980 performance ish, gtx 1050Ti = gtx 960 performance

The 1050ti is a low power draw card ideal for low power desktops or laptops. The rx 480 is miles ahead in every department.

Might be worth the extra £14 for a brand new one, depends how tight your budget it i guess.

It blows the 1050Ti away as far as I'm aware. There was 44 available when I posted the deal lol

Price down even further from a few days ago. now £195 with free shipping for the 8gb version.

You're not wrong, but there is absolutely no reason why your SSD should be above 40C. Getting back on topic however, I received my RX 480 yesterday and I'm really impressed with the performance at 1440p.

Few 1 star reviews on google (maps) for delivery being slow, warranty claims and DOA / RMA poor service. Hope you get a good one and don't need to return it!

56c is no where near dangerous for an SSD, they are made to operate up to and beyond 70c. Heck even the bare m.2 drives don't throttle until they hit circa 90c

Pretty much why I bought this for my SFF case too. It exhausts all/most of the hot air straight out of the back, rather than back out into your system. My SFF case has no internal fans other than the one on the GPU and CPU cooler so this does the job!

Go buy a card with an open air cooler and see how that works out for you with your CPU, motherboard, HDD and SSD temps in a SFF build. Spoilers: I was doing it wrong and that's how I now know I'm not doing it wrong.

Bit of an exaggeration considering there is more than a month wait for the 8GB card and 4GB is plenty for 1080p.

you would need to be clinically insane to buy the 4GB version just to save a little over £10. games are VERY close to using over 4GB Vram on 1080P now and these cards are marketed as VR ready and will play 1440p which means they WILL use more than 4GB of Vram when on 1440p and VR if they are being used to their maximum potential.

The 4GB version is also available for £184.98 https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B01KF91GJO/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Fair enough but either way it's going to be better than this......it's just how much better yet to be proven but not completely unknown.

Probably the best rx 480 available. absolute steal at this price

I created a quick video of the Gigabyte 970 G1 running GOW4 just now. https://youtu.be/exLgoP_-NEA Summary: In normal horde mode i got 130FPS - 140FPS when running at 1080p Ultra preset- which is normal and similar to vs mode. When i ran benchmark, i got 78FPS on average, which matches what Guru3D got. When i turned it down to low, it went over 200FPS

I worked it out when I saw the watermark. I'll check the FPS in a minute and do a YouTube video.

Where is that graph from? My 970 is not even using OC profile. Happy to do a video. But 100% sure it is hovers between 120 and 135 FPS depending on the scene and number of enemies wallbouncing around. I just set it to ultra preset and don't touch any of the advanced options. I'm using the gears internal FPS counter by the way. I might try fraps when I get home as I'm doubting the internal FPS counter now.

Maybe he's using a custom ultra setting , AA and all that turned down maybe, or just means texture quality on ultra lol

@Simon_H It does sound like it might be faulty, i looked at all the issues with the 480 when troubleshooting and most were reboot loops driver related) or random shut downs (PSU related). I've got the 480 working now with the 16.7.1 drivers but i updated and Windows crashed, rolled back and it's fine but i am getting shut-downs when gaming even though i set the cpu to stock so definitely a PSU issue, mine's a 550w antec truepower fwiw but maybe try the older drivers. The only other thing that worked for was installing the driver manually via system the installing the radeon applet and using Trixx to set the clock speeds but obviously such workarounds are not idea with a new GPU.

Speak to Ballicom tomorrow and process your RMA, usually takes a bit of time and you can always cancel it. It sounds like it's dead TBH, if it was a BIOS issue it wouldn't post at all. Not a great experience for you!

Tried all options you have suggested, not overclocked either, only one not tried is in other machine, this is tricker because how many pc's can slot in a rx480? Its not so small and I thought my humble machine was enough ! I'll try in a mates pc then ill speak to ballicom ...... Thanks for the input.

S**t! -Have you tried flicking the BIOS switch on the card? -Do the fans spin OK? Unobstructed etc? -Was it overclocked? -Have you tried removing all additional RAM/Drives from your machine and booting? -Tried resetting your BIOS to default settings? -Tried the card in a friends machine? Try some/all of the above and report back, otherwise it looks like RMA time. Here are some alt. options depending on how your RMA plays out: 4GB: https://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/amdradeongraphicscards/radeonrx480series/rx480armor4goc.html 8GB: https://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/amdradeongraphicscards/radeonrx480series/rx480armor8goc.html 1060: https://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiagtx1060series/gtx1060-6gt-ocv1.html

Played bf1 for half an hour, all was well, and then screen was playing up, flashing etc. Now it wont even post on start up. Says no signal from card. Blue power light works on card, idicating the power supply is good. After reading plenty, the UEFI problem keeps getting mentioned. My PC is not UEFI, but it worked fine for 30 mins ! Dont think I can run this mobo with UEFI ( too old ? 2012), maybe Ive got a card that was weak from the start !!! MY PC should be enough for it.... guess more reading is required..... not only that but it gets hot quick till it throttles until i adjusted the settings in wattman, never did i have to do anything with nvidia straight out the box it works as it should no matter how ultra the settings be but hey thats nvidia, the best and the pro's ...now i im starting to understand why people hate amd so much.

480 IS superior to 1050 even with their "**** drivers" (otherwise nobody would ever buy rx480 for 220+ pounds if 1050 (which costs around 140-150) was even near it. You can make paragons with 1060, and yes, in the beginning 1060 was outperforming rx480 by 5% more or less, but after recent driver updates they are on the same level.

speaking of rx 480 being superior to the 1050 ti... only if amd fix their drivers because its completely ****...well they always were
