Those people are reporting sub 10 degrees reduction. That's completely reasonable. First comment said 8C. As I said, anyone claiming 20+ degrees reduction... I do not believe. 8C? Yeah, that's almost exactly what I expect from switching to Kryonaut paste. That's what you'd get on a CPU switching from stock to kryonaut.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/cr2dw9/pasting_my_reference_5700_xt_matches_the_red/ Another guy who did the Gamers Nexus mod today, getting max temps of 75C under load. I must admit, they're all quite consistent results.

Anyone claiming to reduce heat by 20 degrees immediately gives me pause for concern about either the manufactor quality or their experience. Are AMD cards so utterly crap that their thermal solution is so poorly applied they allow for 20 degrees change just by a minor tinker? I doubt this very much. But I guess AMD could be utterly useless in their fabrication, maybe. I'm going to ignore these anecdotal forum posts until there are more, I've read enough youtube comment sections to know to believe literally nothing spoken.

People on the Gamersnexus video are getting fine results, one of the most upvoted comments in the comment section: ' This is no joke. I just did this mod on my XFX RX 5700 XT, and it's like a new card. Using Heaven Benchmark at the extreme preset at 2160p, before the mods I was running at about 78-80 C core and 82-85 C memory on a custom fan curve.... After these mods I was easily able to push the power limit to +50% (using the exact items listed below), and I was getting 64-66 C core and 68-70 C memory on the same fan curve (running ~50% speed now), and the core was now running consistently around 1990mhz' So he got an OC and maxes out at 66C core with stock cooler. A great result, and there's loads others all over the net if you'd care to look. Gamers Nexus themself says it's an easy fix.

Bit Tech has no indication of starting temp, you've just made an assumption. As for OC3d? No one else agrees with this review's temperatures for the reference model. You want to be believed? Back it up with other legit reviews. You've managed to scour the internet and find less reputable sources, that's how the internet works. If you look hard enough, you find what you want. I'm sorry but I have to go on a mini rant here. This is pretty crazy man, just here me out and don't take this too harshly... What is this with hunting down no name youtubers. You say 'Not an Apple Fan' is a 'famous youtuber'. You have to be kidding, right? Here's his channel man. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UColGq9X_Fi9LedYSK6ZfrkQ He's got 13k subscribers. That's youtube famous??????? His 5700xt video has 12k views, his mod you are talking about has 9.6k views. Looking at his video's, he only reviews AMD products, creates videos about how 'Intel is dead' and how 'NVIDIA should be scared'. I feel the only reason you mentioned 'Not an Apple Fan' is because he is claiming his card is running at 76C on FireStrike. I've never heard of this man before today. Have you honestly heard of this man before you bought your 5700 XT?

Fewer cores means little here because the overall performance is very close. You can get a decent MSI or Asus for £380 from scan or others. This is not a deal till it drops below £400.

Why would anyone buy for this when a decent 2060s is available for £380? You'd have to have no regard for your budget to do it.

Even though I didn't explicitly mention cooler design, dual fan 5700 XTs will still be hovering on the 400 or lower mark, which is still cheaper than this, while offering better performance. The fact is at £440 this is too expensive when the 2060S is offering essentially the same performance for less, let alone what AMD have. At 400 sure, not a bad deal, but cold at this price.

Please do not compare a blower (helicopter + furnace) with a custom board. Wait for custom 5700 that will be more expensive and then compare them.

If it was £399 I’d take it at a push. It’s the exact card I’m after but I’m not paying £400+

For anyone still looking, the actual laptop is a quanta nl5e. I received mine yday and played VR "the lab" for a few hours. Cpu temps hit 95° and gpu 85°. I'll probably get a cooling pad and swap out the thermal compound at some point but those temps are still within "safe" operating temps. Any questions give me a shout

Problem is that doesnt tell us much because some people are actually stupid enough to try gaming with the laptop on their lap which blocks the vents and causes very bad overheating issues. Most issues can be resolved just by changing the thermal compound and putting it on a desk or on top of a laptop cooling pad. I had similar issues with an asus gaming laptop when i got it temps would hit 90c on the cpu when gaming and after i changed the thermal compound and put it on a cooling pad the cpu wouldnt go above 79c when gaming and the gpu wouldnt go above 74c.

I myself bumped the SSD up to 500gb. I wasn't aware of the sata hdd/ssd conflict but if I need more space down the line I'll just add an m2 ssd As stock the setup comes with 1 stick of 8gb ram, it's £32 to add another one and make use of dual channel. My configuration brought me over £1000 ex vat which lets you pick up the freebie Corsair mouse. Its a £20 jobbie on Amazon but may aswell (y)

Question whether you really need a gaming laptop before jumping in rather than a mid-range gaming-capable one and a desktop. I’ve had gaming laptops for a while and inevitably never really move them as much as I plan to (as they weigh so much) so they end up resigned to a desk and left plugged in. Also if you get an Alienware while it will cost more, you also get much better resale values.

seems a very good price for the spec i'm still looking for my first gaming laptop was edging towards the alienware and hoping for some good reductions on black friday/ christmas promotions hmmm

Everyone has a different idea of which tiers are mid-high, I’d say this is very high mid tier :) if you consider a 2080ti costs over £1k alone, can’t really call this as high top tier (embarrassed)

Is 1200 pc only considered Mid range! Jesus! How much better do these games look than say the pro or X?

What point are you trying to make? I never said it's not cheaper to build you own, I said it's nowhere near £500 cheaper. HDD & SSD are actually closer to £110 together. To your calculations it's around £70-100 cheaper to order individually and build your own, for those that can't build their own PC and want the 3 year CCL warranty, it really isn't that much of a saving.

Yeah but CPU and GPU account for around 70% of this build though. The rest is just RAM, mobo, HDD and m.2, case and PSU. RAM is around £80, mobo £100, m.2 around £80, case £60, PSU £50. I think it's a decent build but I think you could buy your parts individually for a better price and with your own customisations (allbeit you can customise on the website itself).

Man I loved my 3dfx card. I remember having quake 2 and being in dismay about the poor quality graphics and fps, so I saved up my paper round money for months and months just to get one. When I finally go buy it, I get home and realise my mum isn't there and in desperation to install the card and play, I crawl through the small bathroom window and get stuck for 2 hours until they return. Random, but its strange how memories return from reading simple comment lol.

There is one rigorous test of these cards head to head, read it if you want, the 5700XT is faster than the 2060S by a significant margin. It trades blows with a 2070 super. https://babeltechreviews.com/the-rx-5700-xt-anniversary-edition-vs-the-liquid-cooled-rx-vega-64-and-vs-nvidias-super-cards/ 'We see the $399 RX 5700 XT easily beat the premium liquid-cooled Vega 64 and it also tops the $399 RTX 2060 SUPER while falling a bit short of the $449 75MHz overclocked Anniversary Edition. The $499 RTX 2070 SUPER is the fastest of these cards, but in several games the RX 5700 XT Anniversary Edition is either faster or else comes close in performance.' I'm not being selective, I'm using an expert opinion (Not my own) which has been reached via the collection of considerable data, which is available for all to see. Your 5% figure is plucked from thin air, and as far as I can tell, appears in no rigorous benchmarking of the cards. Babeltech aren't wrong, neither are their benchmarks; the 5700Xt is on the coat tails of the RTX 2070 super. There are real arguments against buying a 5700XT based on temperature and drivers. Basically, if you're a tinkerer and like to play with voltages, or add a cooler, the 5700XT is the better buy. If you want plug and play then grab a 2060S.

Not 10 percent. Not 15 percent hit in performance. As comprehensively demonstrated in my previous post. Suspiciously selective posting from you, once again. There is a word for that kind of person. 5 percent quicker than a 2060 Super at 1440p for currently not the greatest drivers, more noise, relatively high stock temps and an inability to overclock without pushing both those factors even higher. The OC tools for these cards are also mediocre anyway. 2 percent quicker than a 2070 with the same caveats. Margin of error. Certainly not faster than a 2070 with a factory OC, like this deal here. Saving £41 isn't worth it for me considering how long people would keep these cards. The performance gap is academic, so other significant factors then come into the picture. This 2070 will OC heavily and it still won't be as hot or as loud as a blower 5700XT at stock. Win. I would say most enthusiasts aren't prepared to compromise on noisy and hot blowers, I dislike hot running parts every bit as much as I dislike hearing the hardware straining. No headroom to push further. If you're cheaping out on video card models >£300 then you're probably misreading the wider market.

"The only reason to get a 2060S is if sound is an issue" You mean apart from the bit where he mentioned the benchmarks and other issues that might make the 2060 Super a better purchase? (confused)

I'm not being selective, 54dB is not that loud at all. Check a sound chart, I've had a gpu that is 50dB and one that never breaks 40dB, the human ear considers most sounds in the <55dB range quite faint. While considerably different, we talking about the difference between two low level sounds. The 2060S will be a lot quieter, but it'll be quieter than something which already barely noticeable. If you game with headphones there is no difference, period. You won't hear 54db the second you put headphones over your ears. The 5700XT is £40 cheaper at the moment. And it's faster, as you concede and can see pretty clearly in every benchmark. Oc'd, it's faster than a 2070 Super. The only reason to get a 2060S is if sound is an issue so much so that the volume of a PS4 puts you off gaming, to the point where that's worth a 10-15% hit in performance and 20% more money. Rx 5700XT: £339 on HUKD 2060S: £380 I'll save £41 and get a considerably quicker thx.

You speak my mind on who would get this card instead of the 5700xt!! There are few people like myself who just want to use the card out of the box with decent noise level and temp, that would last few years without needing to worry about the card getting damaged by temp etc and for us this 2070 seems a better fit than the 5700 XT. I am still on my GTX 970! Saving £40 and spending that on a cooler and spend more time installing is probably not for people like me who cant even bother to overclock the card. I just play with graphic setting to get the fps instead. I think the 5700 xt is more for enthusiasts who have all the knowledge and abilities to play with modding and oc'ing, but not just using the card out of the box for few years until games fps become unbearable and upgrade. Afterall we are talking about 300-500 pounds for 4 years, people nowadays spend more on their phones every year or two.

The 2080 Super looks like it could be the one for me. I want a 4k card so if the price is right then thats my Xmas pressie to myself. Alternatively i am keeping an eye on 1080Tis as they might drop to a bargain price (with eBay code say) now 2080s will be discontinued and will be ok to last a year or 2 at medium/high 4K i am sure.

Yeah it's a great card for the price (in todays market), the ray tracing seems to match the 2070 too as they have increased the RT core to 7 Giga Rays/s. I'm currently using a 2060 6GB that I got at launch and It still seems like a decent buy but if I was buying a new card now I would go for the Super. I will hold onto it until 7nm Ampere next year.

Ok seems they’ve adjusted that down a bit for uk. Was $399 last I read! They really are going after AMD with that pricing.

2060 Super is £379 https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/graphics-cards/rtx-2060-super/ Also it is only 4% slower on average.

To get this, grab a student and get their discount, saved £280 ish.

There are usually settings where you can choose which graphics card to use for each application. I've had that optipn on my past 2 laptops Dell and MSI, don't see HP being different. I think it's Nvidia related settings, so nothing to do with the brand.

I'm looking at the HP 15-dc1044na (RTX 2060 version), does anyone know if you can swap to the onboard graphics to reduce fan noise whie doing low grunt tasks like web surfing or MS office etc? I know it has an Intel UHD 630 onboard graphics but don;t know if you can utilise it. If nobody knows but has one, what is the fan noise like on low demand stuff? Thanks.

Going by US prices AMD have decided to be greedy rather than try and make a dent in market share. I'm guessing Navi will drop alot over the next 6 month in order to compete.

AMD openly say their strategy is to focus on lower to mid range gpu’s for volume sales. So we might see some good competition as Navi rolls out in this part of the market but the higher end of the market their is unlikely to be an competition to drive down NVidia’s pricing model.

I am at 1440P 60FPS but def. can imagine i will be spoiling myself before Xmas with an upgrade.

It's been terrible for years. Tbh the last good thing to come to PC GPU wise was the RX 480 launch where you could actually get a good mid range card for £200 before the crypto boom drove prices insane.

I did read some later testing and it did look like it was for only that time but generally Nvidia drivers do mature better then AMD ones. It was a nice bit of folklore for the time though :) Lets hope for some new GPUs over the summer (as i think we can all admit it is dire at the moment).

Decent price for this card.

https://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/dominic-moass/zotac-gaming-rtx-2070-oc-mini-8gb-review/2/ OC vs Non-OC in this specific case differs in OC having an A-binned chip. If you care about what this means, try here. But to sum it up for you, it actually performs much better than the non-OC version and if there are similar pricing to binned vs "unbinned", you'd go for the binned (assuming that cooler/noise/snake oils has no influence on your decision). The price difference is usually like £100 - the reason why people don't go straight for this. To most people it's just an RTX 2070. You can see performance up to 10% difference between binned and "unbinned" though. This is a great deal though for a 2070 let alone a binned chip. These have always been the cheapest of the RTX line and I'm not really sure why that's the case... (whether it's due to a bad cooler, noise, or some other thing...) Edit: the kitguru review I linked is actually pretty insightful and this little bugger looks quite loud. Despite that, still a great deal. Especially because it's sold and dispatched from Amazon. Heat.

If its the Mini OC rather than just the Mini then it should boost to 1650 MHz rather than the standard 1620 MHz (strong)

Will do and thank you ;)

I bought this exact card last week (£361 but was an overseas purchase). I will say that given the size it's surprisingly quiet compared to what I expected, no other issues like coil whine so far either. In my case, it runs 32°C idle, 75°C full load, so be aware it's hotter than other cards. It won't manage 4K gaming, but for QHD at 2560x1440 it's perfect. If you have a 4K monitor the 2070 series cannot fully handle the most demanding games at or above 60 frames per second, cards at the same price as a 4K games console are laughable unless you have money to burn.

It's Taiwense. Asus are well known for their high end gaming equipment, motherboards etc. Taiwan is the classic country of high end gaming, as well as aluminium PC cases etc, and metal manufucturing. Dell don't make laptops with graphics cards this powerful generally, unless you count their Alienware brand - which scream teen gamer even more. Apple don't make anything like this. And I'd never get a Mac. And unibody aluminium is stupid if you have components producing a fair amount of heat (which high end graphics like this does). Also prone to cracking apparently. An OS I'd never want to learn Terrible for gaming Not upgradeable really Not easily servicable The list goes on. I like some of Apple's stuff, but it's generally overpriced, not that high end in performance, and overly restrictive. And yes, made in China. So actually, this may well be made in Taiwan, while a Macbook may be made in China (or even India). Lol

Xiaomi stuff is designed better than a lot of Dell and HP stuff. They do copy apple a lot to be fair though.

Designed and made are very different matters sir 🙏😁

Apple, Dell, HP are designed in the west

All of which are made in china afaik.

That's nice for you

My Palit RTX 2070 is overclocked to 1980Mhz from 1800Mhz standard, and maximum it gets is 67C degrees, with fans at 60% rotation. And this is the cheapest dual fan RTX you can get. No idea what are you on about.

I beleive there is just only 5 percent performance gain from 1080ti to 2080 but it is newer technology like rtx and dlss and is likely to be supported for atlesst next 3 to 4 years

I mean, Is the rtx2080 better than a asus strix 1080ti? I'm really in doubt beetween witch one to get

If you look around the general consensus is that two fan designs on the rtx cards have to be thick to work well

Big difference between the two... And can just overclock the rtx 2070 to pull away .... Then if you like to ray trace or DSLL..

Rather buy good 2060 for £100 less and do slight OC to get same performance as 2070.

bought one, now gone back upto £520

If there was any fundamental evidence for this I assume the 1660 Ti wouldn't use Micron memory being made much after the failing reports, but they do. It's either serious incompetence or something else entirely.

Black and silver now for rtx / b450 and z390 boards. X570 is the same
