I have this and the wheels and tyres are not tubeless ready. It also does not have thru axles which it really should have had. It comes with two quick release skewers which I would replace asap. I'm annoyed about the lack of thru axles as the hubs are very basic and can't be converted so you have to buy a new hub and replace it because the suspension is not great. Also remember to pick up a shock pump. I got this one from Amazon Beto SP-002AGN
It's a 29er
Your 'normal' is now outdated as 1x drivetrains are the standard on modern mountain bikes for the reasons others have commented. My 1x12 offers 520% range.
I ride a modern 1x drivetrain bike. It has sprockets from 11 to 46, and I virtually never need to use the biggest or smallest sprocket. The range is great and I have never found myself spinning out, even full tilt downhill. Have a look at Sheldon's Gear Calculator and you can se the range of gears on a modern 1x bike.
If you have a look around, you'll see that '1x' chainsets, ie single chainring, are totally standard on modern mountain bikes across the board.
I use an old deck as balance board, keep my ankles and hips in some kinda shape for an occasional surf. Stripped the gear off an old cheapy, cleaned it up a bit, bought a cork roller and started balancing on a yoga mat. Hope your rehab goes well mate...good on you getting back on it
My son went off skateboarding pretty much as soon as I got him a decent set up from skate hut. Instead of getting rid of the deck, I’ve made it into a doody shelf for his room. :) Looks pretty good.
You know what... I post a few skateboard deals per month and we see a lot of older folks wanting to do the same. (Get back on a board) One of those is myself and I have no regrets over it. The muscle memory is still there, just got to get my bottle back for the most part. I'm 36 this year battling mobility issues and constant pain in my legs. Loads of rehab and skating is helping. Even bought some Triple 8 bumsaver shorts for when I end up on ye olde backside (lol)
Heat just because it's a skateboard!!.... also because it makes me want to relive my youth.... with my Santa Cruz Natas deck, Indy trucks, Schmitt Stix radial wheels, down at the Rom.... those that know, know. (y) ....and we used to pay £50 for a decent deck (Santa Cruz, Powell Peralta, Vision Street Wear etc...) in 1988/89

GT Zaskar LT AL Expert 29 2021 Mountain Bike £1124.95 @ Skate Hut£1,124.95 Free P&P Free
Incredible price for this fantastic GT hardtail with the Rockshox 35 Gold fork. Been £1550 everywhere for ages. A couple of places dropped to £1395 recently. If you are waiting for the Vood…
A reasonable cyclist can easily maintain a cadence of 120 rpm. At that cadence, on 29" tyres, a bike with a 32x11 highest gear would be doing over 30mph. I don't know of many mountain bikers who could maintain that on the flat. 32t and 11-50 gives more than enough gear range for any riding, road or offroad, other than trying to set a speed record going downhill.
Anyone know if they’re selling half price anywhere
Is this a ladies model then
Is there a mens version?
No pedals that’s me out (lol) (lol) always like the GT bikes
Birdhouse used to be a professional branded company way back but have fallen victim to disabling their team and selling mid range generic boards. Enuff is a UK company that started selling cheap entry level boards, decent mid range like everyone else and their stand alone decks (are my favourite shapes) Are priced like the professional blanks (same wood as a £60 board just no logo). Blueprint have gone from being one of the top UK brands to being just like birdhouse and now sell mid range generic boards. In the £60-80 price point most companies will be somewhat similar. Its when you get to £120+ and you're building custom setups it's when one may out weigh the other. My view is. Do not spend less than £60 on a first board unless it was on sale from a higher price point. No point getting a £30 enuff setup they are pretty rubbish, where as a £65 enuff setup is much better. Do not go to sport direct, argos, amazon etc to buy skateboards as they sell a range of rubbish
The ones on the link I posted are very similar. I believe they all have the same trucks, and bearings, and the wood quality would be the same. The wheels would be pretty similar in the quality as well. So it's all down to what you think your son would like as a design. You can't go wrong with any of the choices there (on the sale boards). The 3 you linked above are great choices as well. Do grab a skateboard T tool as well, saves a lot of hassle with tightening and loosening etc.
If you would be buying for your son, which one would you go for? With a budget up to £60
how dobrands compare, eg Blueprint vs. Enuff vs Birdhouse for instance?
Higher the A rating the harder the wheels are. Just means harder wheels can slide when doing certain tricks. But the difference isn't much between 100a and 92a. You can get away with favourite choice.
