Or you can use letsencrypt to get a free ssl cert...

I know about letsencrypt but not everyone would be comfortable enough setting that up.

    ... works out £3.50 a year.

Commodo at ssls.com is cheaper if you buy 3 years. Let's Encrypt isn't stable yet so no good for production sites.

I had a 99p code already but was trying to transfer an old domain in to keep them all together and it wouldn't work on a transfer. Then I came here and tried the "tde99uk" one and it worked fine, thanks! Heat added.

Yes, you will. Same with any of the registrars. Bit like your car/house insurance, gas/electric suppliers etc.

Put it in your diary, plan 2 move within the last month - there are always codes out there for transfers/renewals and new registrations.

If you had read the offer on GoDaddy you'll note it's the same for transfers too.
I've not paid full price for a domain for years - just bounce them between registrars, it's not rocket science.

But if you're lazy, then expect to pay lots for everything. Each to their own.

youll get stung after the year to maintain the domain name. I got done previously by godaddy for $10 a year on a $2 plan signup plan. So COLD from me.

I found a current and better offer and posted it after spending about 30mins trying to work out what exactly the code did, but it got deleted as "spam" (it wasn't at all) without so much as a warning or anyone actually checking it and the mods don't care to reply to me about it. So there's a newer one out there if you want to look for it, I'm not going through all that effort again just to have it deleted without a care.

This seems to have expired as far as the first year is concerned, now all years are £6.49 (+ICANN fee) when using it. Still cheaper but not what it was.

There's another bonus to this that's not mentioned here, it makes the extra years £6.49, so you can actually save some money there too if you have a domain you know you want to keep.

First one that actually made a difference, I kept being told that the other codes I found weren't as good as the offer it had automatically chosen for me, even if I was trying for £0.69p .com domains or 36% off, the best it would go down to was still over £7/yr.

Great for just grabbing a domain you like even if you've not fully decided what to do with it yet. It came to just £1.40 for 1 year on a .com with ICANN fees!

Anyone tried it along side Quidco?

If you were an existing customer you would possibly get 8p, New customer (new account) you would possibly get 32p. I didn't go through quidco.
