Well, no. But gelatine is used in icing, sweets and toppings, carmine is used for colouring, and even lard makes an occasional appearance. None of which are suitable for vegetarians.

Seems most cakes are local or London delivery only.

The great north south divide strikes again.

Love how you can order for them to be delivered on Christmas Eve.. It's a shame all the tastiest looking ones are London only though!

The London only cakes have fresh ingredients and elaborate decorations. That's why they're local only, presumably they have their own delivery service for that to ensure safe passage. The other cakes don't have those fresh ingredients and are tightly packed so they can be offered further afield.. They come via DHL. (edited)

Eh I don't think it's a "why aren't there any Waitroses up here" …Eh I don't think it's a "why aren't there any Waitroses up here" situation, it looks like a small business with one shop in London, and they have some cakes they can stick in the post. At a guess it's about how fragile they are, the London-only ones (which probably get couriered) tend to look pretty smooshable

That's right, they are a small family business, but they got so popular they've opened 1 or 2 more shops, all based in central London.
The "London" cakes are "hand" delivered by a courier. And postable "National" cakes are made of more sturdy sponges and delivered by a delivery company like DPD.

    No it’s not?

I’m a vegetarian and like the reassurance of seeing this statement on various food items. If it doesn’t have it then I’m unlikely to buy it.

I've bought the Hello Kitty afternoon tea, a couple of the cakes slices were a little too sweet for me but everything else amazing.
I did the Potion room afternoon tea and that was much better, really filling too. I overheard someone there saying the regular afternoon was even better!

Absolutely love their cakes and their cookies. Their salted caramel is heavenly!

I received an email recently to say the Brewer st branch is open again. Give them a ring to check. (edited)

Not sure how the "100% natural ingredients" claim on every page stacks up against their ingredient lists. Plenty of stuff in there which I wouldn't expect to see on a "natural" product; emulsifiers, glazing agents, humectants, palm oils etc. Maybe technically natural but certainly wouldn't pass the "ingredients you'd have at home" test.

Chocolate Sponge: OAT milk (OAT), apple juice: lemon puree: lemon juice and flesh, sugar, vegetable oil: rapeseed oil, vanilla bean, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, salt, cocoa powder, sugar, WHEAT flour (GLUTEN); Salted Caramel: sugar, glucose, cream (MILK), butter (MILK), salt; Buttercream: dark chocolate: cocoa mass, sugar, fat-reduced cocoa powder, emulsifier, soy lecithin (SOYA), natural vanilla; sugar, butter (MILK), condensed milk (MILK): milk (MILK), sugar; cocoa powder; Milk chocolate: sugar, whole milk (MILK) powder, cocoa butter, cocoa mass, whey powder (MILK), emulsifier (SOYA lecithin), flavouring; Crispy Chocolate Balls: WHEAT Flour (GLUTEN), plain chocolate (sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, emulsifier: soya lecithin (SOYA)), milk chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, cocoa mass, skimmed milk (MILK) powder, milk (MILK) sugar, whey (MILK) powder, milk (MILK) fat, emulsifier: Soya Lecithin(SOYA)), white chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, whole milk powder, skimmed milk powder, emulsifier: soya lecithin( SOYA); vanilla flavouring), rice flour, shea kernel oil, palm oil, sugar, whey (MILK) powder, salt, emulsifier: soya lecithin (SOYA), glycerol monostearate, sunflower lecithin; rapeseed oil, water, sodium bicarbonate; glazing agent (shellac, acacia gum) coconut oil, sucrose, honey; Fudge Pieces: sugar, sweetened condensed milk (MILK, sugar), glucose syrup, palm oil, butter oil (MILK), flavouring; Gold.

Which makes no sense since Ingredients are the same ingredients and England is a tiny country so it makes no sense why we have so much divide for not only a couple hundred miles difference if not less which is nothing compared to Texas, as England on its own is much smaller than Houston, Texas (a city)

What's to stop them making the exact same cake in a different location a couple miles away? Nothing
Different colour icing and different toppings means they can't deliver it to the North? Makes no sense

Yes, I bought a voucher for the full price of the cake I wanted (delivery not included) paid half price, code was delivered instantly to my email, I then redeemed it against a cake instantly at checkout + paid £6 shipping.

Worth checking shipping costs by doing a practice run, as I noticed shipping goes all the way up to £12+ for some areas.

I ordered this cake in the picture last week for a birthday. It was really really nice, with little crunchy cookie pieces inside. It tasted like a naughty, posh fresh cream cake.
I was kept up to date with delivery times by text and it was packaged really well. It does say to leave the cake at room temperature for around 3 hours before eating, if you can wait that long.
