For instance I just had a look at the first cheap laptop okay a Chromebook on here... which has a 38wh battery and a claimed 12 hour battery life. If we take that to be wildly optimistic and say it has a 4 hour battery life, average power usage is 9.5W, so an 18w supply would still charge the laptop while you're using it.
When off it should be fully charged in not much over 2 hours from empty. (edited)
Yeah only Qi-enabled, this isn't Qi-certified; many products are Qi-enabled but not certified. I don't know if it affects the end product much but I haven't seen anything negative regarding only being Qi-enabled yet, but if anyone knows more pleaes let me know. (edited)
Glad to hear dell have improved charging support. My old dell xps 13 9350 only accepted power with a 20V PD profile and I was always envious of macbooks which accept 5V and up.
This is 18w, you'll never manage to charge a laptop with such power banks. You need at least 45w and still lots of laptops will not fully charge at that wattage. For laptops, you need 60w+ power bank, plus PD cable.
This charges the device, not the other way around.
12v x 1.5A = 18w.
Not in a million year you'll charge a laptop at 18w. You may be lucky to top up at 45w, most laptops charge at 60w+. A PB for laptops is about £50 if not more. (edited)
I can charge my 15 inch Dell laptop with my 18W PD charger. It's slow, but it does charge especially when the laptop is off. I was impressed that it even worked!
I managed to get it to keep it alive by turning the "power plan" onto minimum and turning the display brightness right down. But yes, It wouldn't put any energy into the battery while the laptop was turned on. When turned off it did fully charge it though. However, you are correct that plenty of laptops which support PD still won't charge from PD chargers which don't output the higher voltage profiles. It does seem to be getting better though.
In some cases laptops will also try and use more power when plugged in, but just keeping it running is a nice start!
That's definitely not a Kit Kat then!!!
don't think that many ppl do... got one 😁!!!!
Probably depends if your laptop is 12v or 20v, as this only goes up to 12v. (Mine is 20v, but some are 12v.)
Oh? Didn't know that. Will check.
Sometimes it specifies in a phones warranty using a non-certified device will void the warranty. I've no idea if they can tell or enforce that though.
Certified devices appear to be tested on safety, interference, ease of use and a few other things, so I guess any of those things could cause a device to fail:

I noticed one Aukey product had it's certification revoked, which didn't look the greatest.
I have one Aukey power bank bubble, which is why I looked it up. It was a pretty old battery though. (edited)
You can top up, isn't it? But I doubt it will fully charge it. I was referring mostly at the scenario when you are on the laptop, you run out of juice, and you need to keep it alive while you still need to use the laptop. I know there are very few laptops you can top up, but will take forever and the laptop needs to be switched off. (edited)
I know is possible, but there are only a few laptops you can do so (I know there is a Mac that accepts this), but I had in mind you need a power bank for emergency. So I had in mind the scenario you are on the laptop, the battery is nearly dead, you need to keep it alive and you attach the PB. But you can't, it needs to be off. 2 hours is good, I actually never considered Chromebooks, but on the Windows laptops I've tried, it never worked.
