If you purchase a Three Pay As You Go SIM through Amazon, it comes preloaded with 12 GB of data that lasts for 30 days, and that data is ready to use in the UK on the Three network and 71 other countries around the world under Three's "Go-Roam" Scheme.

If your current network will charge you to use your data abroad, but reluctant to move operators, this would make an ideal temporary SIM to use abroad in the below countries.

Three has recently introduced for Pay Monthly customers a £2 a day fee to use their existing plan in the EU and £5 a day in the other worldwide "Go Roam" countries. BUT on this PAYG SIM there is no extra fee to use the data abroad in any of the 71 countries and these include:
- European Union countries
- USA
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Indonesia
- Vietnam
- Hong King
- Simgapore
- Sri Lanka
- Israel
- Brazil
- Chile
- Israel
the full list is here

Please be aware the maximum amount of data you can use in a month while roaming abroad is 12GB and hence why I am only suggesting this 12GB SIM. Even if you purchase a SIM with a higher amount of data anything over the 12 GB roaming cap, can only be used in the UK.

You must insert the SIM into your phone and activate at least 24 hours before you leave the UK, to get the inclusive roaming to work.

Roaming charges begin in May...think £5 a day

Only on Pay monthly contracts. Currently there isn't any plans to add roaming charges on Pay As You Go Sims.

It's £2 per day to roam in Europe and several territories:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus (though note that higher roaming fees may apply in Northern Cyprus), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Vatican City.

Aland Islands, Azores, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, French Guiana, Gibraltar, Guadeloupe, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Madeira, Martinique, Mayotte, Reunion, St. Barthelemy, and St. Martin.

It is £5 per day outside of Europe:

Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Indonesia, Israel, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, USA and Vietnam.

Hong Kong, Macau, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands

    Hope that helps

How long can you roam with the SIM?

It would appear to be an absolute maximum of two consecutive months (assuming you set up auto re-new after the pre-loaded data runs out after 30 days), then they are at right to disable inclusive roaming on the SIM.

I wouldn't like to say, it could be a gamble.

Three could change their T&Cs by then.

I joined 3 last June because I believed they'd never reintroduce roaming fees. I'm leaving ASAP. I'll be going with Virgin or O2 who are not reintroducing roaming fees. (edited)

Thanks OP , got the 30gb for a couple of £ more, as I've booked to go Jersey this year. I'm with o2 and it looks like they charge £2/day for 100mb

Happened to me with the unlimited SIM and Three refused to do anything about it so I sent it back.

Interesting, never knew this was in place. I spent 3 months in Germany and they never mentioned anything. Maybe they don’t flag it up if you don’t go crazy

I thought the free roaming in 71 countries ended last year in October 2020 and now is £2 per day

    hmmm

I am going to the US in August for 3 weeks and this would be hugely cheaper than any other option. It's whether to take the risk and either they don't change their T&Cs before then or I dont have the issue where others have said there's no data on the sims.

I'm on 3 unlimited everything but because I joined before Oct 2021 I will still keep roam at home for free. I did get a call last week asking if I wanted to renew my contract for a extra £4 a month lol , which I said I would stay on my existing deal and keep roam at home . This would be good for kids but could I use it in August 2022

It's possible you misread the letter. They were introducing a 25gb cap for data roaming around June last year. Anything above that could be purchased at an additional rate.
