sorted byI stopped buying FIFA in 2015. Back then I realised it was basically the same game year after year and nothing much has changed except the inevitable bugs. Their sole focus is on their money maker ultimate team.
Like you say, they make small tweaks to the base game and make it sound like they have started from scratch to create an entirely new game and charge insane amounts of money for it. It's not for me anymore.
Maybe sports games that are gonna be released year after year should be more like Fortnite where the base game is free and you pay for a season pass or something for a reasonable amount of course. I don't know how that would work, I'm just saying something needs to change because up to £90 for the same game year after year is mental.

You don't really need to play it to know the way things work. We all know how EA operate. It's the same with everything - the same with Madden and their other games. They take people for fools.
I haven't played this version myself, but I know people who have - they say it's more of the same. The slight tweaks to make the gameplay feel different (but as usual it's not better) and little else. And, of course, lots of problematic bugs which never get fixed. I mean, it is EA...
Same. I stopped playing like 5/6 years ago. It’s not a fun game anymore to play. Its not even anymore realistic either imo. The game has gotten worse over it’s lifecycle I’ve found. There’s more bugs than previously and unless it’s online, they’re really not bothered in the slightest. The whole Mason Greenwood thing shows this. Look how fast they pulled him from the game from when things kicked off? Now look at all the problems with the game and it never gets fixed.

Gotta disagree. 21 to 22 is the biggest noticeabl game shift in years... On series X anyway... Very different game...(as far as FIFA goes anyways) (edited)
Sony don’t sell PS4/PS5 digital codes for games anymore, so there’s no surplus for cheaper digital games. I wish they did. I’d love to use my PS5 more but Xbox games are so much cheaper.

On the plus side EA have done some really decent challenges this year and you have been able to unlock a great team with out having to put any additional money in to it. I still feel like fut is ripping kids off gambling as such but overall EA are parasites and that's tends to be there normal behaviour.
Pro Evo is such a hard game to play. I’m so trash in the game, even the easy level beats me as I’m not used to the mechanics of the game. Last pro evo I played was Pro evo 6 with Adriano on the cover. Elite game and so fun to play on my PS2. All kinds of crazy goals getting scored.
I heard that the Pro Evo games can be modded and prefer that over Fifa crap now tbh. It’s no fun getting a computer with a 40 pace defender like Maguire and reeling you in with you using a pace merchant like Rashford.
Get yourself Pro Evo if you got the time to invest in relearning game mechanics. (edited)
I am a Pro Evo player but they've stopped making it now. I used to be quite good too, beating the then 4th highest ranked player online. Been playing since the PlayStation 1 days. Thought I'd try FIFA again, as I do every few years. Always feels the same, always scripted and always rage inducing.

No this version is for the Xbox One, this will work in a Series S/X but it it the last Gen Version
I've not played the Xbox One version - but the Xbox Series X version really is a jump forward.
Definitely as it’s EA but when I wonder? I’m still playing 21 and love it (game pass )
I’ve played it as I was luckily a tester of the Beta. Couldn’t see much change to 21 but as it was a beta they didn’t have the new kits. Graphics for the movie parts were improved but gameplay wise still the same , which is fine but it’s really just a DLC update on 21 (edited)
I'd agree, this year is a big leap in gameplay over last year. Has been much more fun to play.
As regards it just "cut and paste" of course from the out side its going to look the same, it a football game how different can you make it look. If you don't try it, and by try I mean play for a few hours, you won't appreciate the changes.
Also if you want to see take a major step back wards just look at the mess e-football(PES) is now.
Probably will be in May, it happened around May last year. I've also noticed it's usually 8 months after launch to land on game pass, if it's not day one release.
Mass effect legendary came to game pass 8 months after launch.
I knew their was a standard Xbox one version and a standalone Series X version. Is there also an Xbox Series S version?
I am talking mainly playing online in ultimate team. I buy the game every year and online it is a much better experience on the last gen version. As already stated all the top content creators play the PS4 or xbox one version. They make a lot of money off it and all started on next gen and have gone back to last gen. Additionally due to this it is much harder to get online games because of this on next gen particularly on Xbox which has a fifth of the player base to playstation.
Totally disagree the improvements to the game on next gen are additional animations, slightly better graphics and slower more laggy gameplay. Not a major shift at all.
Really surprised by this comment, the game itself might be a little slower but all the meta and most expensive players have top pace. Nobody in ultimate team plays with defenders with pace under 80. I assume you play weekend league and I see nobody playing with defenders as slow as you advise.

Not really. I have played them through friends and I have game pass but not much has really changed to justify the price tag
Didn’t seem massively different, not enough to make me buy it. Maybe the polished game was different as the point of the beta was to get views on what needed changing
I thought efootball was out to replace it? It’s horrific that they lost the UCL rights to FIFA. So anti-competitive! Yeah FIFA is a true script. The input lag especially online would always do my head in but even off line on 17, that was the final straw along with career mode being neglected as per usual because cash cow FUT has taken priority over everything else.
At this point even PC gaming is too expensive and more costly than consoles.
It’s not a fun game to play and induces rage. I was unhappy post 2016 but woke up and smelt the coffee with the disaster of 2017 Fifa. Not looked back. My wallet, happiness and productivity have thanked me since.
Efootball is the replacement and it is truly dire. FIFA licenses and ProEvo game play would be perfect and EA could achieve this. However, their aim is to create a product that functions in such a way as to appeal as broadly as possible whilst extracting as much cash from players as possible, rather than being the best possible simulation of football. Shame.
Yeah seen there really bad reviews for it. It’s become free to play now. Always been that way since the beginning. Get licenses off EA and get pro evo gameplay and together its everything you need.
I only got into FIFA because all my friends played it but if I really think about the most fun, that’s pro evo 6. Damn the goals I scored in that game…
Maybe EA could achieve it but it would be a fundamental redesign and restructuring of all game mechanics. That’s been their aim since the early parts of last decade now with rise of online gaming. Just milk the fanbase and promote the game. Rinse and repeat. Then use profits to buy more studios, developers and titles to milk gamers from. I was so annoyed when they bought out codemasters for the F1 games.
