Good offer if you have access to Three+ rewards. Spotted that you can get a better discount for 1 year digital railcards for TheTrainline via Three+ rewards, 40% off 1 year digital railcards so works out at £18. This is slightly better than the 33% current promo 33YESPLEASE for a 1 year digital railcard, although that does also work on 3 year railcards (which maybe better for some). Plus the actual digital railcard will give you a third savings on train fares. Works on 7 digital railcards e.g. Two together, Family & Friends. Terms listed below.

Three+ Rewards

Also worth mentioning that those with Clubcard vouchers may consider using their vouchers to redeem for a railcard instead of using this promo.

There are seven digital UK Railcards available which the discount code works on. If you are unsure on which railcard to get, there is a tool on the Trainline site which helps you. The digital railcards are

  • Network Railcard - 1/3 off adult fares and 60% off kids' fares in London and the South East of England
  • 16-17 Saver - 50% off adult rail fares
  • 16-25 Railcard - 1/3 off rail fares
  • 26-30 Railcard - Railcard1/3 off rail fares
  • Family & Friends Railcard - 1/3 off adult fares and 60% kids' fares
  • Two Together Railcard - 1/3 off adult fares for two named people travelling together
  • Senior Railcard - 1/3 off adult rail fares

Please note that the Disabled Persons Railcard and Veterans Railcard are not available to buy with Trainline at the moment.

FAQ's

How much is a 1 year digital Railcard via Three Rewards?

All new digital Railcards (1 year) cost £18 via Three rewards. Once you have a Railcard, you can get 1/3 off the price of your rail travel.

When can I use a Railcard?

Again, this depends on the type of Railcard you have. Generally, all Railcards can be used for discounted train fares during Off-Peak times, weekends, and public holidays. Some, like the age-related Railcards, can be used during Peak times with a minimum fare.

Which tickets can you save money on?

It varies depending on the type of Railcard you have, as some are valid for use during Peak times, but generally, as a Railcard holder you can save money on Advance tickets (https://www.thetrainline.com/trains/great-britain/ticket-types/advance-train-tickets), Off-Peak (https://www.thetrainline.com/trains/great-britain/ticket-types/off-peak-train-tickets), Standard, and First Class tickets (https://www.thetrainline.com/trains/great-britain/ticket-types/first-class-train-tickets).

    Hey guys,

    A couple of things:
    1) the Trainline do a 33% discount anyway at the moment with the code 33YESPLEASE

    2) London northwestern do a groupsave ticket for ,1/3 off without a card needed londonnorthwesternrailway.co.uk/tic…ave

    Hope that helps someone.

You can buy a 26-30 railcard when you're 30 which will give you a discount travelling alone, and if you're really smart you'll buy another one the day before your 31st birthday which will work when you're 31.

Unless I am totally missing the point, I have never understood why this …Unless I am totally missing the point, I have never understood why this Railcard is discriminatory to most working people in most of the country.

Because the idea behind railcards when they were introduced nearly 40 years ago was to encourage leisure travel at off-peak times and thereby fill some of the seats on half empty trains.
They were never intended to give working people a discount on their journey to and from work because that wouldn't increase the number of passengers overall since they would be making the journey anyway, and would have just led to a drop in fare income, so the rules were drawn up specifically to prevent this.
I'm not defending this stance, just explaining the thinking behind it. (edited)

I'm getting close to that... do you know if you can buy one before the …I'm getting close to that... do you know if you can buy one before the previous one expires? I've got a few months between the expiry date of my current railcard and my 31st, so I'll renew my railcard when it expires... and I was then hoping to get another one just before my birthday, so I can have that 2nd one for a full year.Sounds stupid, but one single trip for me tends to pay off the cost of a railcard, so a few months using it makes a significant saving

Though I've never tried it I'm pretty sure you can because people on here have previously said they've done it to take advantage of a discount offer that might expire before their current railcard does. The new one starts straightaway though, it doesn't start from the expiry of your current one so there is an overlap where you lose a bit.
Also, don't count on these offers being around until the stated expiry date... there was a 50% one before Christmas that was supposed to run until Dec 17th but it was pulled on Nov 27th, 3 weeks early, because they'd reached their quota. Lot of people missed out there.

No you don't. The cards appear on your Trainline app digitally but are not limited to tickets bought there. (With some faff you can get them on the national Railcard app as well)

After all, proof of Railcard is when you are asked by a ticket inspector not on purchase.

Will you be travelling with another adult or a child?

Great deal - used the 33% code to buy one just the other day, d’oh!

Nice that you mention the Clubcard offer for those who may not be aware - you can’t though exchange Clubcard vouchers for a Network Railcard, 16-17 Saver, or a 26-30. So for people who want them, this is the best offer.

Worth being aware that you can’t hold these digital cards in the official Railcard app, you need to use the Trainline’s.

Unrelated, the featured App Store review for the Three+ app is a bit of a journey 46932478-j4OxB.jpg46932478-rK9Eq.jpg (edited)

The nephew had his phone taken and the son had money taken, in unrelated incidents, as far as I can tell... Just not sure how it’s Three’s fault, despite their many shortcomings! (edited)
