sorted byNah one button for recline, one to reset/un-recline (is that a word? lol)/move back up. It's all in one motion, but the back doesnt start to go down until the footrest is fairly high. You'd have 4 buttons if there was independent operating.
For what it's worth, the colour is pretty good - I have the grey also.
Pretty comfortable. Quite upright and firm when not reclined. Really comfortable when reclined!
You need to check the back rests are properly fixed in place! It took me a couple of goes! Once in properly you will notice the difference
You can part recline to whatever position you prefer (edited)
Cheers for the heads up, I did wonder given there doesnt seem to be an option for store pick up - I've opted for the grey, should be arriving next Tues so I shall also report back! Yeah totally agree re comparison, of course its not going to be as good as a £2k sofa lol people are... amusing for the money tho, even if this is half decent, I'll be happy with it as a stop gap.
This definitely feels like it depends on the delivery guys - the chaps who delivered mine yesterday unpacked without any issue, I didnt have to ask... they asked me sounds like you got unlucky.. so dont give up hope! (the box definitely would not have fit thru my door, but the sofa did)
100%! - The packaging dimensions are on the product website - Packaging Dimensions H 76cm x W 206cm x D 94cm - at this point, I was worried also... but as you point out, that would not fit thru many front doors let alone once inside. The guys didnt really struggle that much with it, so you should be fine if they're cool with unboxing it (which they should be, I get they probably wont accept responsibility for it at this point but if they're careful it would be absolutely fine)
Oh looks like possible 8% TCP for new customers too or 2% for Quidco (edited)
Yes we are very happy with them. Quite firm - but comfy. Very good in the recliner position
Actually - I take it back! It does has some stitching on the arm
My grey leather is lighter in colour…..but it could be the same.
For £400 - unbelievable price to be honest and covered with a warranty if there are any issues
Also consider that total package weight is 87.5kg, so you won't be moving it by yourself.
It turns up pretty much all assembled, minus the backs/seats which you have to slot on. So the max height is to the arm. Doesnt look like it would be an easy job to dismantle further than this. If you really have issues with access, I would highly recommend nabru.co.uk/ who do a decent sofa - they were the only ones a few years ago when I lived in an incredibly narrow, impossibly awkward 1st floor flat to give me something better than a beanbag!
The 2-seater arrived on Tuesday (as arranged) while the 3-seater arrived on Thursday (They were both booked in for Tuesday)
The first delivery came while I was at work and only my wife and kids were in the house. The sofa in box would not fit through the door (and I'm sure it wouldn't fit through 99% of doors) so the delivery men set it outside and left. My dad had to go down, take it out of the box and try to maneuver it through our front door himself.
As soon as it was set up, my wife tried it out and the recliner went up most of the way and then stopped. It refused to work after this- we discovered a disconnected wire near the motor and so we're currently stuck with it in the upright position until it is repaired or replaced.
The second delivery came when I was at home after 6pm. The delivery drivers, while more keen to help us, had a horrendous attitude with continuous swearing and were both not cut out for the task of getting the sofa into our house. They removed it from the box, tried to bring it in but dropped it and it scraped up against the wall outside and ripped down the arm of the sofa. The driver thought I didn't see or hear this happen and stood in front of that side of the sofa once they had it in the house in the hope I wouldn't see it until they had gone but as soon as he stepped aside I brought it immediately to their attention. They continued to swear, took the sofa back out to the van and away they went.
At this point, I'm done with it and am waiting for them to collect the first sofa next week so that I can get a refund and move on.
While the sofas do seem nice for the price paid, I'm not at all convinced by the quality and would expect the material to damage easily, especially if you have kids or pets.
It's a shame as they are comfortable but I have not been pleased with my experience at all and wouldn't recommend having to deal with this delivery company by purchasing large items from Dunelm. (edited)
Hi, we have this sofa. It slides inside the bracket. Into - not under or over it. Hope this makes sense and hope it helps.
Basically it’s either very cheap stuff or spray on leather essentially, it’ll crack and colour will wear easily. Always better to stick with fabric if you’re going for a cheap sofa.
I found this out this out the hard way a decade or so ago, when I had to get an independent furniture chap round to write a report up so I could return and get a refund for a bonded leather sofa that looked terrible within 6 months. He explained why it just simply isn’t worth it
If you’re going leather, make sure you go for a manufacture like gplan who clearly state they don’t use bonded or faux leather. Is pricey though (edited)
Well if it's someone you don't particularly like....
Seems to be the new thing. I've seen quite a few places selling large '2 seaters' as 3 seaters. The ones I sat on defo had space for 3 people or two very large people
Not really - we prefer to save up and pay cash
Yep ordered the 3 seater. The delivery guys unpacked it out of the box outside my house and then carried it in. The bottom section is all one piece but they didn’t have too much trouble walking it in. The backs of the seats/cushions were separate and you basically affix those yourself as well as the feet/connect the wiring for the recliner. Super easy. The access to my front door is pretty narrow and a long corridor but it was fine in the end
Does the 2 seater also have 2 seats or just the 1?
Madness! Is clearly a 2 seater, the shop have listed it wrong. It has 2 electric reclining seats.
Checked and this is the picture for a 2 seater. The 3 seater has 3 seats. I wouldn't buy as this all seems incorrect listing. 3 seaters in faux suede are reduced to £599 for comparison. So maybe buy now if they have to honour, is clearly an error listing. (edited)
Erm - I think so! Quite firm when upright and comfortable when reclined.
That's exactly what I'm going to do! Great minds think alike!
The option of returning for free was enough of an incentive to at least check them out at this price.
It'll be a week or two until they arrive but I'll report back!
3 months in and doing fine. I guess it depends on how you look after then - if you have pets, kids, etc. At £400 - I would be happy with 5 years use out of them……
After doing some research I think the leather will last a long time, at least 10 years. It's 100% PU Leather meaning it's the best in the faux leather range.
It just depends how well it's stitched together as it's starts to come loose if it's not stitched properly. (edited)
Uh oh, this does not fill me with confidence. Sorry you're left sofa-less.
The sofa isn't much bigger than the one it's replacing, so not sure why they wouldn't unpack it to try and manouver it in. I don't know how they must deliver to flats or small new builds.
I'm going to ask Dunelms customer services. I doubt the fully boxed sofa would get through a lot of doorways. I thought in most cases sofa delivery guys have a knack of twisting and turning to get it inside a room.
They have offered to redeliver it and leave it outside for me to then try and get in myself, but with a bad back and the risk of it not fitting and then having to leave it outside to get damaged or stolen I dont think is worth taking.
Really dissapointed as we are now a family without a sofa as the old one has been taken away to clear room for the new one, and im going to be now having to look for more expensive alternatives (may ave to get an inflatable one for the meantime )
Worth noting the packaging dimensions on the Dunelm website states narrowest width of the box is 76cm... the most common UK doorway size is 76cm... so bear that in mind.
Blah that is super frustrating given my experience was excellent and they definitely were forthcoming with unboxing - can you grab some neighbours to assist maybe? hehe.
I suppose you could always chance it, order it again, and see if they would unbox it/bring it in if you offer up some cash inhand? worse case its a bit of a waste of time, and you get the refund back again if they'll refuse to do it..
If they get to my door there is a small area to manoeuvre and then my door is only about 75 cm wide with a height of about 180cm and once through the door got small area to manoeuvre into hall way
I have read u have had trouble, my delivery is booked for 18th April as I wanted enough time to get rid of old sofa etc - may keep old sofa just in case now lol.
The delivery courier is panther - was that who delivered yours? I have been on chat to them and they said they will deliver to a room of choice. I asked about unpacking to get through door and they said I haven't selected that option and to contact dunelm but can't see that as an option on website
I also ordered a 2 seater and a chair but only the 3 seater is showing on my tracking details on the panther website and they said that is the only item booked in for the 18th
Hmm interesting, that's who delivered mine - I think it'll come down to individual crews potentially then :/ (edited)
Under features if you tap read more it should be there. I think they've gone back up to full price now though.
It’s a shame for those of you who have been left with boxes outside, I didn’t even need to mention it they knew themselves the boxes were never fitting through the doors!
So far seems like a true bargain!
Thanks for replying! I did eventually figure this out after engaging my brain a bit more, since there was really no other way to do it lol happy to say the sofa has been pretty good too
Yeh.. it was Panther
The Dunelm customer service was pretty good when I eventually got through after being on hold with them on the several occasions after speaking to them but I've certainly been put off from ever having to purchase any large items from them in future if they continue to use that delivery company.
The refund was processed last Friday and I was relieved the saga was over!
Will do! I shall start the timer when assembling as well, to see if I can beat 30 mins lol - have a good weekend!
