Correct. I've recently moved house and purchased this as a temp sofa from Argos - can confirm it is indeed the same model. Furthermore, if you look at the price history on this item via Camelcamelcamel, this price is higher than the item's average price. All around; this deal is cold.
The living room often serves as the central space in any household, and every living room deserves a quality sofa that looks and feels right-at-home. Finding the right sofa on your own can be a daunting task, as well as the relative cost of purchasing one. Here at hotukdeals, we understand how difficult the process can be and we've put together a guide to help you find the best sofa deals available.
So What Sofa Suits You Best?
Sofas come with a variety of different shapes, sizes, and features. So here's a list of some of their more differentiating characteristics to further prepare you for a purchasing decision.
Frame design is the first thing that catches customers’ attention. Different sofas come with different designs, and finding a piece that has a striking look and blends into the rest of your space can do wonders to improve the look and feel of your living room. However, looks can be deceiving. Just because a sofa has the look you favour doesn't necessarily mean that it will hold it's shape forever. So even though he design may suit your needs, It is very important to make sure you invest in something that not only has the best design but lasts for a long time.
A good, durable sofa should have a sturdy frame in order to maintain its shape and integrity. The frame is the backbone of the entire sofa and should be up to the task. The quality affects how it is able to handle the pressures of everyday use and still maintain its comfort. Most often, sofa makers utilize wood composite, hardwood or metal to make frames, with metal frames being the sturdiest. But of course, metal frames aren't perfect as they can rust due to the humidity in the air. For cheap sofas, wood composite is generally cheaper but lacks the longterm durability of hardwood and metal.
The material used provides strength for the larger frame of a sofa where the larger frame pieces join each other. A good sofa should have the right type of joinery to anchor the general strength overall frame. Wood is the most common material and connects firmly through the use of metal staples, which is the most modern method used in mass frames production. It.s also much more durable when compared to the old practice of connecting the frame with wooden dowels and wood glue, which sacrifices overall strength and durability.
The Cushions, of course, are the part that provides comfort when you relax on any sofa. The cushion filling used is most often determined by the intended design and feel of that sofa. The most used cushion filling includes feather, foam, and polyester fibre. Each of them comes with their characteristics that determine the ultimate sofa quality. Some manufactures may use the two or three of the filling materials to achieve the intended result. Sofa throws will most often use feathers, but most cushions are made with synthetic materials to help the sofa maintain it's shape and level of comfort for as long as possible.
To deliver comfort and resilience, a good sofa relies on suspension. A first-rate suspension paired with solid cushioning determines how comfortable a sofa ultimately is. Any suspension should be able to withstand the impact of people sitting on the sofa throughout its lifetime, and it's why strength is among the most important aspects to consider when choosing a sofa to buy. If the suspension is not as strong as it should be, your sofa to warp and lose its shape under the weight of prolonged use.
Types of Sofas
Sofas have many different shapes and sizes: 3 person sofas, sectionals, recliners, armchairs, and corner sofas. The 3 person sofa is a basic model with two or three cushions, seating up to three people. Sectionals, allow various pieces to connect in different ways and are great for large families and gatherings. Recliners offer built-in footrests and use a lever that releases the seat-back and allows you to kick your feet up without having to stand. Armchairs are only to fit one person at a time but often come with reclining options available. Corner sofas offer the owner the option to place the sofa into any corner of a room-filling the adjacent walls with seating for the entire family.
The most common sofa retailers in the UK are IKEA, DFS Sofa, and Furniture Village. IKEA sofas are numerous in design and range of quality, they are made of different materials, shapes, designs, and sizes that range from top-notch comfort and style to budgeted items more suitable for students. DFS Sofa is an expert at producing high quality, stylish, and comfy sofas. They have decades of experience dealing with leather sofas, sofa beds, corner sofas, recliner sofas, fabric sofas, and other furniture. Furniture Village specialises in 3 seaters to recliner armchairs. Usually more expensive, Furniture Village sofas tend to be high quality and well made.
How to Clean Your Sofa
Here are some basic instructions to help you keep your sofa looking fresh for years to come. However, before you clean your sofa, be sure to check the manufacturer’s instructions so as to avoid a breach of warranty or incidental destruction of your sofa’s fabric material. Vacuum cleaning is often the best cleaning option as it ensures that you do not dirt into the fabric while cleaning.
Mix one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and one tablespoon of vinegar with two cups of distilled water.
Use this solution to dampen a microfiber cloth.
Use the cloth to dab at all the stained areas being mindful not to scrub as that may potentially damage the fabric.
Use a dry cloth to dab at the stained areas once more, soaking up as much of the liquid as possible.
Dry the treated area with a fan and make sure it dries completely before using.
Sofa Accessories to Help Compliment Your Sofa
Although accessories aren't necessarily required for the enjoyment of your sofa, there are a few items that can help make your lounging experience even more relaxing.
Your Frequently Asked Sofa Questions Answered
Which Sofa Fabric is Best?
The answer to this is contingent upon several factors but the two most important are the amount of usage and whether there is children or pets in the home. Leather is incredibly easy to clean, durable, and won't carry a smell. Unfortunately, leather is also the most expensive option. Microfiber also cleans easily, is tough, and fairly priced. However, all things being equal, leather will always carry the edge when it comes to durability and lifespan.
Will My Sofa Fit Through the Doorway?
To check whether the sofa will fit through the doorway, you will need to measure the width of the doorframe and compare it to the height of the sofa. Allow some room on either side to determine whether the sofa can get in on its sides. If the width of the door frame is greater than the height of your seat, it means that the sofa will fit through.
Who Invented the Sofa?
The name ‘sofa’ dates back to 2000BC in Egypt, at that time only the rich kept sofas in their living rooms. The word sofa is derived from the Arabic word “suffah” meaning bench. Eventually, designers started taking ideas from the original sofas and improving upon them over generations. Since the 20th century, we have seen a gradual transition away from the traditional model and towards more stylish and colourful designs.
Can Sofa Cushion Covers be washed?
Yes, they can be washed by using cold water and a mild detergent. If you are machine washing them, make sure the zips are closed before putting them in the machine washer, as this helps avoid ending up with a tangled mess. You can line dry your covers although most people put the cushion back inside while they are still damp. Some covers may call for dry cleaning therefore it is important to check on the recommended drying method from the tag.
When Do Sofas Go on Sale?
Like most furniture items, sofas often go on sale around holidays and periods where large sales are more common. New Years clearance sales and Black Friday being some of the best times of the year to buy. As always, hotukdeals will be the best place to find all of these deals from across the UK.
When and Where to Shop for Sofas
It is important to keep in mind that buying sofas is a major furniture investment and whatever you decide on will be a mainstay in your living room for years to come. That is why it is important to understand your style preferences, quality, and general price range before diving into the market. When it comes to shopping for quality sofas and the option available to you often it becomes a battle of IKEA vs DFS as these two often have the greatest range of product and most consistent deals.
That being said, be sure to keep a lookout for deals and offers when larger sales come around such as Black Friday and New Years as these are often when more offers become available nationwide.
A Few Things to Take With You
Sofas are an important part of every home’s living room. Because of this, it is important that they are carefully chosen and you come away with the perfect piece of furniture to fit you and your needs. When buying sofas, be sure to thoroughly check every detail, from the design, frame, material, joinery, and everything in between. Personal preference matters the most but selecting a sofa with a great frame that serves your interests in the long run. Whatever cheap sofa you do go for, hotukdeals will do our best to offer you a guide to huge savings. And remember, always try before you buy in order to understand the comfort and feel of a sofa before fully committing to a purchase.

Looks rubbish, the back support is made up of...scatter cushions.
The most uncomfortable sofas ever!
This type of design annoys me. They cut costs by chucking cushions on it instead of constructing a proper back support.
Yep stupidly high tbh. But I this case think it's still a good price, I know DFS have the option to pick up if you have suitable transport not sure about scs. Would rather they include the price in the product and offer a discount for buying more than one. £99 del charge for a sideboard believe it or not.
It's nice but i flatly refuse to pat them or for that matter dfs £69 for delivery on a low price item especially when i live 6 miles away from their warehouses It's like buying a car for 10 grand and getting charged 2 grand for delivery I don't need their business that bad

My old range is brown so was contemplating spraying it but it's seen better days hence the new sofas. I really like the look of the Lyon that can be either a coffee table or dining
I've ordered 2 too, maybe that's the hold up, ordering more than one and shipping into UK. I'm hoping I can use my current storage table as it's the same make but an older design but again I'm also holding off buying anything else to match until I know they are on the way. Fingers crossed that we get them, I'll try live chat when I get a moment
No still not dispatched though they're still advertised as in stock. I spoke to live chat who said they would send it quicker deliver when it's ready to ship for the inconvenience. I ordered 2 so have yet to bit the bullet on buying a table as I need to know they'll definitely arrive
Have you tried chat to see if they can give more info?
I've still not had an update and can see that they are available to buy, allbeit at a higher prices. Have you had any luck?
Bought 2 a few weeks back for the kids bedrooms. Using them as 2 chairs until friends stay when they convert into a sofa bed. Have the coral and blue versions. These are excellent build quality and very comfy IMO. Great material. Solid enough cushions to retain their shape without being too hard. If u get that compromise. Recline as chairs into 2 positions for a chill. Any questions please ask. Great value for money. Even as 2 single reclining chairs never mind the sofa bed option.
Is it widely known that all the cheap Argos Basics and Sainsbury's Home stuff is rebranded as "Habitat" now? The Habitat brand literally means nothing, but it feels like Sainsbury's are still trying to mislead people into believing that it's high-end.
If you buy it your room will just look like its missing all that :)
Wish my dentist chairs were more like this, mine have ancient plastic school chair type (lol)
Imagine taking the whole sofa to the dry cleaners!
Thanks OP! Just managed to get a chocolate one ordered for delivery to my postcode. (y)
Seems to be £100 now, but good luck finding one that can be delivered to your postcode.
Nevermind, if your name is Boris, you can spend 100 times more, and get someone else to pay for it, provided no one finds out.
The Argos site says The small print *Prices correct as displayed but are subject to change. We have recently dropped this price, from £15 I think I would rather have bought it before they "dropped" the price! They mean by £15, of course. One 1 star comment was very useful: Honestly I feel very few people who've bought this sofa have tried sleeping on it. It's too hard to sleep on but with a couple duvets down as a mattress topper it's ok. The biggest flaw is what feel like a metal bar running down the bed, which is the fold from becoming a sofa to a bed. It's not quite in the centre so it splits the bed in to a small single and a teeny tiny single. you basically have to pick a side to sleep on and the smaller side is only large enough to lie on your side. Any road up, I might be tempted but with a bad back and spending hours sat down because of it, I have had a cheap sofa like this and the wooden carcass could be felt with the thin inadequate padding. Hence I most likely would get pressure sores (again). But this might be useful to some, especially if they use toppers even when used as a sofa, so I have voted hot. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to post this.
All these people moaning about the quality whilst no doubt sat on their DFS sofa at home... equally as cheap but extortionately priced!!
is Habitat not decent? I used to browse the shop in Edinburgh years ago and it always seemed decent and sometimes twirky designed cool stuff. Mind you, it was probably owned by Terence Conran then! edit - just looked, Habitat and Argos are under the umbrella "Home Retail Group" and owned by Sainsburys. Argos furniture used to be cheap and awful. Not sure if the Habitat stuff is equally cr@p though.
I do so hope Lulu was better informed than moi.
Actuuuaaalllly, it’s No 11. During Cameron’s term he decided to switch the flats as No11 was bigger than No10, and this formality has now followed under Bojo the clowns term..... (nerd) 8) Just call me Kaaaaaron! (y)
Whilst you're at it, take a look at the DFS compliments FB grou.... oh wait. Take complaints with a pinch of salt and always keep perspective - some people live to complain. For what it's worth, we bought 2 cheap sofas from DFS and have no complaints 2 and a half years later.
Because of the Dalmatian scatter option maybe?
Tried it out in store today. Much too soft and pretty uncomfortable in my opinion.
Have a look at the DFS complaints FB group, I wouldn’t want to risk it dfs complaints https://www.facebook.com/groups/275959766440302/?ref=share
Can get both. Velvet is more but very very nice. Can’t see no pictures of the Velvet on the site tho have to go in store.
I can see they still sell quality furniture but most of it is the cheap Argos tat that has been made for years - now under the disguise of the Habitat name. Loved going to their Tottenham Court Road store.
You'd be better sleeping on the floor
I stand corrected. However, I still think this is a good piece. It’s difficult to know with middle of the range furniture though, and unless you go really cheap you’ll probably not know the difference. (y)
Sainsburys have started to rebrand the majority of Argos home products (apart from value products) as habitat products - even says it on Argos and habitat websites. Started in November last year I think. https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blog/2020/11/habitat-to-shutter-flagship-and-relaunch-in-sainsburys-and-argos/ Habitat is a very pale shade of what it used to be like. Habitat and Argos designers are the same team now working at Argos HQ Milton Keynes. Also habitat uk is completely separate to habitat (rest of world - french company)
I disagree. Argos has its own brand Home and Habitat still has decent designers and quality products. Just no showrooms.
"Perfect for a movie night turned sleepover" - chance would be a fine thing!
I too have reservations about the arms. Hence I looked up the Q&A section and saw someone had asked this question. As usual Argos were as useful as a chocolate teapot in answering in any reliable way. This is what the 2 answers were: The written description of the sofa says you CAN remove the arms - please can Argos confirm once and for all and perhaps update the written description of its wrong!? Answered by Vickstar Age: 35 to 44 Location: Oxfordshire Gender: Female 20 May 2018 ############### Contradicted by: Hi, The HOME Marseille 2 Seater Fabric Sofa Bed does not have removable arms. Thank you for using Argos Q&A. Answered by Becky@Argos Gender: Female STAFF (Argos staff has to be assumed here). 10 May 2017 ########### One 1 star mentioned that their sofa arms fell off due to the NAILS coming out: Arm fell off after 2 weeks Rating 1 out of 5 Looks nice, really large. But really poorly made. The arrest fell off (all the nails just fell out) after a few weeks. It had barely been used so extremely disappointing. (arrest meant to be armrest, my comment, not in the review). PinkLlama, 25 - 34, Cornwall ######## 3 out of 5 of the 3 star comments say that it does not sit flush with the wall, as do several of the 4 star reviews. One of the comments reproduced here: However, you cant actually push this flush to the wall! There's a massive support section that you dont really notice in the photos, which sticks out the back! The sofa ends up about a foot from the wall! As with all cheapish Argos items, the quality isnt great, but for the price Im happy! ########### Other things to consider are: From FOUR star reviews: It used to be a bit hard to sleep but mattress topper memory foam does the trick. The grey is more like airforce blue... As a bed - it's very narrow and bit in the middle does not allow you to sleep comfortably. If your guest will stay over a weekend that's the longest they should sleep in it! (The bit in the middle being the join between backrest and bottom part of the sofa). ...but not very comfortable to sit on for long periods of time. It’s also not particularly comfortable for two people to sleep on... It is rather low so not good for anyone with mobility issues Just info to consider. I might think about buying this, if I did and the arms fell off like one reviewer said, then I would leave them off. If not, I might sledgehammer them off anyway as they do not really perform any useful function, and stop a 6 foot person (tall, not number of feet at the end of their legs) from hanging over the end easily, which they will need to do as this is only 6 foot 5 inches long max on the outside, but only 5 ft 10 between the arm rests.
thank you. Im 4 foot 10 so this is perfect.
I'd pay £50 for it lol.
I guess you don’t have a diesel or petrol car then. If so start walking.
