Sky Q, Mains off or not?

Hi, Sky Q when turned to standby by Remote Control is consuming 20-40w of electricity all night. Equals about £65/yr over 24hrs a day.
If set to ECO mode, consumes 0.9w, so a lot cheaper, but mine loses internet wifi connection every day and needs a reset, which is a pain.
Does anyone out there routinely turn their SKY Q off every night at the Mains? And if so, are there any negative effects on operation?
Thanks

The previous box I had started to develop a similar problem to yours. Had to disable eco mode to fix some of the issues, but even then I would end up with connectivity issues randomly.

After a few calls to Technical support I got them to send me a new box as part of my upgrade.
However boxes are owned and maintained by Sky, you should call them and tell them the box is faulty, after going through the diagnosis etc over the phone they will send you a replacement box (free).

They used to con people by charging them for Q boxes even though you actually never own the new boxes at launch saying its a installation fee, however how the fee can change depending on the storage capacity of the box was a mystery to me.

Will it be able to record programmes if turned off at mains?

Why on earth do people still pay for these ancient boxes that just eat …Why on earth do people still pay for these ancient boxes that just eat electric! Aside from the fact they can’t be bothered to go into on demand to click onContent….

I suppose the answer is mainly convenience. the Q does a good job of aggregating most of the platforms into one place. The ability to record is fast becoming redundant admittedly. That said, the Q is a massive disappointment in terms of UI and image quality. We;ve been Sky customers for 20 years and are seriously thinking of leaving. Just have to re-install a TV aerial first!

Thanks for the helpful input. When in Eco mode the Q loses Wifi every day, with Eco off about once a week. I don't have the time to argue the toss over a faulty box, but having discovered how much electricity the box uses if not in Eco mode, I will enter the battle for a replacement. Having had a read of recent Sky user forums, this seems to be an ongoing issue.
