sorted byI had a 2000 head rating tent for the last five years and it kept my family bone dry in even stormy weather.
3000HH is not enough to withstand sustained rain, heavy or not.
You may be able to coat it in something or else look for one with a higher HH count.
Baffles me that there are always HH comments on here talking as if that one number is the be all & end all of tent watertightness. Absolute nonsense. Design, pitch, seam quality and all manner of other factors add up to how dry a tent will keep you. There are (very expensive) ultralight tents with HH ratings in the 1200-1500 range that will absolutely keep you dry, while a poorly constructed mass-market tent with a HH triple that won't.
Looks like it
Yes I have this tent fits two doubles and a single and a little space at the front, also it's on its 3rd year I bought mine for £50 we just use it in the garden brilliant buy
Erm, you mean like the ultralight 900g Rab Ridge Raider which has a HH of 15,000?
HH does matter and quality ultralight tents have it even more!
But I certainly agree with you that construction matters too - poor seams and it doesn't matter what the HH is.
Something like this at this price point would be fine for back garden use with the kids or maybe even festival use if you don't mind being a bit damp.
Personally for me as I got older and further into my festival visiting times I learnt that it's worth paying a bit more and getting a tent that will stand up to torrential rain (which seemed to be a yearly tradition at Download. Seriously in 10 years of going we had 1 year where the weather was good!! ). Nothing worse than having your tent leak early on and then having to battle to try and dry you clothes out so you have something dry to wear. Trust me getting a chest infection with develops into pneumonia and leaves you with perminent lung problems for life from standing round all day in wet clothes isn't with saving yourself 50 quid on a cheap tent.
Spend a bit more get a decent tent you can use for years and that is warm and dry enjoy the festival more and save yourself years of health problems.
Rubbish
Ours is 3000 and it hammered down for 5 days. No rain came through whatsoever.
I didn't realise camping had got so complicated. I used to love a good soaking. (edited)
Yeah, I got mine for £50 a couple of years ago.
It's still on a shelf in the garage😁
I did find a tent that can sleep 80 people :

Should be, decent size, cheap where you don’t mind too much if someone wrecks it, really easy to put up, should be waterproof in moderate weather, what more can we ask for! (edited)
Of course it can withstand sustained rain, christ. (edited)
Was thinking more Big Agnes Copper Spur (1200HH), Nemo Dragonfly (1200HH), Marmot Tungsten UL (1500HH), MSR Carbon Reflex 2 (1200HH, 800g for 2 people!), Sea to Summit Telos (1200HH).... etc etc
Well rated, good brand, not cheap tents, none of which anyone is going to accuse of being not waterproof.
Yes, just deflate them and fold them up then they’ll fit nicely in the corner
Ye of little faith. Bunk up to maximise capacity and also add some fun to proceedings.
Can you tell me, has it withstood strong rain?
Would I get a double inflatable mattress and 2 single inflatable mattresses in it?
Should be fine for British weather
yeah definitely, but the middle pole is a bit annoying so the person closest to the tent is really close
Those are all excellent tents with super quality fabric.
As mentioned above the door opens inwards so lets in a bit of water when you go in/out if it is raining. Very easy to put it up given it's size. Heat
Excellent news.
3000hh is plenty for a tent. A tent relies on the structure and stretched fabric to remain waterproof. Some top of the range ultralight tents have HH ratings less than 2000.
