If we travel for long distance and the weather is hot, we tend to freeze a few ice packs and drop them in the cooler, keeps it cool for longer.

    Maximum cooling performance 18-20°C

    What does that mean?
    pc99's avatar
I would say it means it can drop the temperature by 18-20°. Eg if the ambient temperature is 25° the temperature will be between 5 and 7° at best.

These work well for me good for pickup hot takeaway too. I plug it in inside the house 1st as it gets to temperature much faster on the mains. Then the cigarette lighter keeps it either hot or cold depending on setting. (edited)

Wondering if this is good for when hotel rooms don't have a fridge

Yes, it's perfect. We use it for travelling in the car, camping or going to a hotel. For the hotel visits it essentially becomes a mini bar!

I’ve owned a couple of these type of coolers and both got returned for horrendous performance. I’ve not got the £200ish Halfords compressor fridge and it will reach 5 degrees or less in minutes. A night and day difference.

    Doesn't work.

It's supposed to keep cold things cold and hot things hot.

I put 2 cups of coffee and choc-ice in mine and when I went to get them it had turned into sludge.

    Maybe mine was faulty?

Voted hot, I mean cold.... Whatever

What turned to sludge your chock ice or your coffee?

Good price for the size.....and as hasbeen said these are thermoelectric meaning they will cool to 18-20 degrees below the ambient temperature, so if it's no more than 25 degrees outside temp it will keep things cool BUT......if it gets up into the 30 degree plus range don't expect your milk to keep for long

aldi.co.uk/adv…600 looking at the old version, it says that's the temperature it will go to below the current outside temperature... It was very cold when we used it

Does anyone know how long the charge lasts? Or do you need to keep it plugged in?
    awesomegiles26's avatar
I don't think it's got a battery, so once it's unplugged it will act like a normal cool box. If you keep it closed until you need to access it, it should be good at keeping items cool.
I see it working best for a day out, plug it in boot of car, then unplug when you get to the beach for example. Take it on a walk and when you find a spot, your food and drinks should still be cold. Ice blocks inside would help make it colder for longer

Does this actually cool things down like a fridge or does it just keep things cool?
    DaveJones82's avatar

As mentioned above as long as it's not above 30 degrees outside, then this will have no problem cooling things down

Just bought this in store to try use as my brisket rest

Still in stock. Just got one

    Wondering does it makes noise?

Well it's meant to keep things cool 😜 but yes you can hear the fan, but not enough to keep us awake (when camping), again I'm basing this on the older version.

    • AC or DC Operation
    • Good feature as can pre cool prior to putting in a vehicle .

I've had one of these and a regular coolbox. TBH a normal coolbox with cool blocks (or frozen bottle of water) worked better.

plus the cooling unit in the lid took up height meaning you were limited on the items you could fit in (I know cooling block and frozen bottle take up space, but this seemed to end up with less capacity/internal height
