Huawei 5G CPE Pro / Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2 from £145 @ CEX

Note that the price varies, depending on
1. Whether it is the 1st or 2nd gen.
2. Whether it is locked to an ISP.
3. The condition of the item ranging from C to A.
4. The older 1st gen model seems to tend to be more expensive than the 2nd gen, as it has the connectors for external antennas. The 2nd has WIFI6 and support carrier aggregation though, and more performant on paper.
5. The 2nd gen can be modified to add the connectors for external antennas for about £100.

Just to let anyone know, you don't need to pay £100 to get connectors on the V2. Just get two or more connectors that go into the wall for the aerial and open the device and you'll see the connectors. You can literally unplug the and connect the to the aerial connectors. No need to pay £100. Search YouTube for easy tutorials.

I ordered the h122-373 for £155 hoping it wasn't locked to Three ...

It was so I filled out the unlock device form on three UK website however I didn't receive any response after 7 days so I called the support team and basically they will not unlock any device if it is registered to someone else (in this case initial owner of the three contract).

No way around it so I returned it to cex.

    Sad times

No more C grade ones. Tough luck (edited)

Don't these ones have issues where you have to check if it's unlocked or not . Otherwise it only works on 3?

So which one to get?? I don't know if I need external aerials or not. 3 reception is OK but not great in my house. (edited)

It tells you in the title. 3 means locked to Three, EE means EE, Unlocked means unlocked...

Tried buying one of these months ago, if you try to buy an unlocked unit you’ll get a three unit, the three units are non-unlockable.

Oh, really nice. Still wouldn't like to pay more than £100.
    Love the description.

Does this mean it would work on 4g+ ?
My TP-Link Archer MR600 AC1200 with voda gives me a nice 80-120mbps on 4g+ and if I put that in a 5G phone we are getting +250Mbps....
    _Achilles_'s avatar
Yes. One guy said he's getting "fake" 5G and just supercharged 4G lol

Using a CPE Pro 2 in my loft, right now. Works great! This is a decent price for it.

Open the device up and you can connect aerials to it and plug into your home dish on the roof

Do not understand how they getting 5g routers from 3 network ? as all these locked router they a contract routers
I know you can order home broadband and three provides router but then if you cancel you need to return router back to 3 ?
So question how these router become available ? Three should be charge for router as they not cheap for them to lose or give as gift ?

at the moment Three not blocking these router but for them to block these router very easy as they have IMEI as phones

anyway I have now 1 month rolling contract from three and yes it is working ok but what disappointment where three lies about a 5G network in my area Yes it is show that i have 5G but it is 4g+ with turbo etc and tree they advertising that it is 5g
and i tested on the phone it is show 5G symbol but it is symbol not real 5G

This 4G turbo " pseudo 5G " is fastener then my BT broadband but not by much the only really good point that upload speeds 80 mbps or more where BT 5 mbps what are joke BT

What I found that my upload speed is higher then download HOW is that works out and ping 3ms -51 DB signal

Than question how is that ? i should be getting much better speeds but three limiting because i upload speed higher then download I testing on speed test and always getting 50-60 mbps download and upload 80-100 mbps
Most interesting that my download at begging starts at 120 mbps and then drops to 50-60 mbps
Someone can say that three do not limiting they networks (edited)

Does anyone know if ID Sim unlimited data is really unlimited ?
ID selling 1 Month Unlimited Sim plans for £16 per month and this sim is mobile phone sim not class as home broadband sim as say Three have
if we use this sim as home broadband and use more that 1 TB are they sending messages about fair usage policy ?
Example EE have unlimited data sim cards but it is not unlimited it is fair usage policy 700 GB per month
