You can install AdGuard DNS configuration profile (that's different than setting DNS by entering DNS IP addresses manually) on your phone for free through their website, and the ads in apps will be no more (doesn't work with YouTube ads). Link here.

For mobile users, you can download firefox browser and get ublock origin as an extension for free and you block ads in apps by changing your DNS settings to adguard. Just Google it. (edited)
    Duck_'s avatar
if you have an android you can install kiwi browser and install ublock and many other chrome extensions

"Just use uBlock cuz' it's free innit"

You can certainly use uBlock if you're browsing on a desktop, but here's a shocker for you. Some people like to look the interwebs on their mobile devices !. And this really is the best adblocker out there.

The premium version gives you a lot more flexibility with regards to ad blocking and can also be used to block unsuitable content if you have a tiny person using a device as well.

"Just use Adblock Plus cuz' it's free innit"

You can certainly use Adblock Plus if you don't know anything about Adblockers and think this is the be-all and end-all of what you need. It's crap. uBlock Origin is 100 times better on a desktop.

For android there is YouTube Vanced with extensive ad blocking I found very good. And YouTube++ for iOS (have not tested yet)

Doesn't specify if it will block ads within apps, or block all the rubhish on youtube and similar. Even better still if it can get rid of the ads while using Plex, Tubi, or Pluto. Worth the purchase for that alone. But as it includes a kiddy blocker, that's good as long as it is frequently updated.
Other options to stop ads on apps is to block access to "Background Data", or to correct the app using Lucky Patcher.
Some vpn will block ads. I receive no rubbish on FB or similar, although that is a paid for service. (edited)

If you're using this on a mobile device, one of the best aspects of it is when you're browsing an ad-heavy webpage, it'll block the ads and then intelligently re-draw the page so you get a seamless experience - and it saves data as well.

As I posted above, you can't block the adverts on YouTube on Android in-app due to the limitations of the Android OS

But a lot of the ads on the apps you've mentioned are also built in to the stream so no adblocker on the market will take care of those.

    Just ordered hopefully it’s good

If anyone has a mesh Wi-Fi setup you can install directly on that I’m sure as I’m with Virgin and they block use of anything like this but with the mesh Wi-Fi we can ad fit to the home network (edited)
    Bogami's avatar
How do you install it on the mesh network?
  7. ashyt16turbo's avatar
Been using this for a while. Great ad blocker and it stops them goddamn GDPR cookie pop ups too.
You don't notice it working as it's basically set and forget.
Blocks ads in web pages and apps, it also blocks the ads that Xiaomi add to MIUI, so no ads at all.

It's also real easy to turn on and off.
  8. Bash_er's avatar
Is the lifetime device limit of 9 amendable for when you get a new phone etc?
    GapsOfTheGod's avatar
Yes, you can 'unbind' devices from your account online
  9. Rambojambo21's avatar
Just use dns.adguard.com for free on your phone. Block most ads in apps and webpages and comes with zero performance/battery hit as it's just a DNS server
    polarbaba's avatar
It breaks hotukdeals links, so I stopped using it
  10. Rolefitleader's avatar
Can you use adguard using Chrome?
    ooogemaflip's avatar
    yes

Can this be added to a BT Whole Home Wifi mesh (the original white ones) to save adding it to all connected devices?

    Nope.

The free version blocks all youtube ads and pretty much all other websites.

The free version is fine but the customisation and additional features of premium certainly make it worthwhile IMO.
  13. Bialy78's avatar
How is it different than premium version from inside iOS app? It’s around £10 life time subscription
  14. newbie68's avatar
I like adds - nice and relaxing breather from whatever it's interupting

Wow fantastic deal, So is this plan forever and is it like pihole but more advanced and works on every device?
  16. Imthaz's avatar
Been waiting for this. Thank you

I think it was this price around black friday last year. Will defo buy it when its closer to black friday in hopes of better price (this is still good so heat from me)

Also ublock origin is an option on android by downloading firefox but it simply sucks because mobile version of firefox is crap. Bromite is my go to browser for android and default safari on ios with adguard.

I do hope to use my pihole from anywhere in near future but been to lazy to mess around with it (edited)
    rcom's avatar
Kiwi Browser is an option. Because it allows Chrome extensions you can install uBlock Origin and Sponsorblock, or WindScribe VPN etc if you wish. Works great.
  18. aaran7's avatar
If I download this on firestick will it block ads on YouTube app for firestick? Anyone know? Thanks
  19. hillsmit's avatar
Should it be charging tax too?
    Coebear's avatar
I know this is a belated response, but the tax charge is a new nonsense implementation added recently. I've used StackSocial for years before all the copy cat sister and brother sites like Neowin, Mactract, zdnet etc came into the fray and this is very new and I'm not surprised members here even suggesting ways of avoiding it. I too don't like it one bit.

Just like Aliexpress with the checkout tax, I probably won't be shopping on StackSocial and the likes anymore. Besides, gone are good deals which are no longer to be found on the platform that were formally there. It is just a pile of crap now. Another evidence is there was no site wide 10%, 20%, 40% discount code for this year's 2022 BlackFriday as like previous years.
  20. Bogami's avatar
So I've just bought and installed it. It creates a VPN. What are the speed and power usage implications of this? Thanks
    edster353's avatar
It's a local VPN so shouldn't alter your speeds that much. There is a battery usage report within the app. As traffic is running through adguard the battery usage report in your phone's settings might show adguard as using more than it has so check the report in adguard instead.
  21. edster353's avatar
Been using adguard for years, highly recommend!

If ya'll are wondering about blocking youtube ads on mobile. Have a look at youtube vanced.

Wanting to switch from my Pihole to SaaS.
  24. IBuyThings's avatar
Next dns or make a pi hole? I use normal adblock and YouTube vanced still (it still works!)
  25. jedisteel's avatar
Got Ad-Blocker it's the best at blocking them silly pop up's and if you use them free movie streaming apps it blocks all them silly ad's from coming up...I've got it on my computers, phones, Nvidia Shields, and Tablet....I did get my Ad-Blocker deal cheaper from StackSocial a while back. (edited)
  26. Rolefitleader's avatar

  27. tan159's avatar
Can I put this on an Asus router to block ads network wide?
    gordon.ho's avatar
Install Merlin firmware on your Asus router and then install the "Diversion" Adblock plugin , then you will get the ads blocked network.

Can’t recommend this enough. You need to know how to configure the software to get the most from it but to have a system-wide Adblock is such a time saver.
Well worth this price as it gives you flexibility to choose the softwares and services you prefer without hasstle

Does this screen out YouTube adverts? How does it compare to Pihole?
  30. FreakyGeek's avatar
I've been using this for quite a few years on Android and now on windows. Absolutely invaluable for reclaiming web space lost to obtrusive ads. Also great for bypassing cookie notices.
Regularly updated and easy to add your own filters.🔥

Wish it blocked the Spotify audio adds!

Use the Argentina VPN tidal hack instead

Nothing blocks YouTube ads.... They are presented as part of the stream.

However, there are non YT apps that do a sterling job

I still get the annoying cookie pop ups on ios. Anyone got any tips?
    ooogemaflip's avatar
There are extensions that deal with it
  34. ooogemaflip's avatar
Had this for a few years. G ot a 9 and 3 life time licences
  35. hukdlr's avatar
I purchased it but it doesn't seem to work with my NordVPN. I was hoping to use this for certain apps and nordvpn for others. It seems one can only use either nord or adguard at a time.
  36. HecFam's avatar
Have been using this for years on my android devices, highly rate it and a great price.
Had 3 personal licences, but well worth the money for 9 devices.

Every now and then I have to manually blacklist a site from the filter log, if an advert is showing within an app, but 99/100 times the existing blacklists work a treat.

It does only seem to work in partnership with Adguard VPN if looking to use VPN + Adblocking as Adguard VPN has a compliance mode between the two. Think I've managed to find some deals in the past on that subscription. Wouldn't say the VPN is excellent, hangs occasionally, but never bad, which to be fair applies to every VPN supplier I've ever used...

Seems to be some discount codes knocking about too, I used BENS20 for 20% off, but there seem to be a plethora of others.

    Thanks for posting!
