Anyone know how this compares to the recent 16L Blyss dehumidifier deal from B&Q?
    Alan_Marshall's avatar
Slightly more extraction rate than the B&Q, however much more efficient. I bought this one and it pulls ~180w, where the B&Q says 300w. So about 7p an hour vs 10.5p

Ordered before code expires at midnight.

Wanted a meaco 12l, but its £80 more expensive (and OOS everywhere) than this homcom.

The meaco rated at 151W would cost 5.3pence to run per hour.
This homcom rated at 250W would cost 8.7pence to run per hour.
mentionned his Homcom was pulling 193W, which cost 6.75pence per hour.

The difference between 151W and 193W translate to 1.45pence per hour.

Calculated on 35p per Kwh current price cap.

So in real life, the £80 difference would translate to 5517 Hours of run time.
Depending on how many hours you intend to run the dehumidifier per day, it will give you an idea about how long you have to use the Meaco to justify paying £80 more.

I intend to run mine around 7 hours per day (overnight), so that 788days of use. Yes, thats more than 2 years, or at least 4 winters.

Also cheaper to run than the Blyss 16l from B&Q rated at 300W or 10.5pence/hour. (edited)

Mine came today and it's a big old thing I've both this and the blyss and this is basic it's struggling to get a room down to 50rh the Screwfix one gets down to 50rh fast this one is loud too I like the blue red and green indicator on the front but this could be getting sent back it seems to be struggling. The blyss warms the room better too. How's other people finding there's?

Can you run it continuously with a pipe rather than the reservoir?
    GrantG182's avatar
Yes a hose is supplied, but not very long, maybe 6ft.

    Mine arrived yesterday.

Seems to be doing a decent job. Before clothes still felt damp in the morning. Hung up a load last night in the bedroom with this running for 4 hours and clothes are bone dry this morning.

Will need to run it though a smart plug to 100% confirm the suspicion that it's much cheaper to run than the heat pump dryer we have.

It is quite noisy though, even in "sleep" mode.

Suspect the answer is no but is there any way to start this using a smart plug?

Homcom do a smart WiFi version - check amazon on Friday as its regularly discounted. Had it a month and very happy so far.

Seen loads of posts/comments about using a dehumidifier to dry clothes at home. Would this model do this effectively and much cheaper than using the dryer??? Cheers
