Very similar spec with i7 available on Amazon for 429, surely a better deal, no?

    amazon.co.uk/ASU…h=1
    stillsingingtheblues's avatar
It's only 8GB and the i7 is 10th generation. Compared to the laptop above which is 16GB and Ryzen 5 5600H (which is better than an i7 11th generation chip). So this laptop is better all round, but the £429 deal isn't too bad.
  2. plewis00's avatar
Very good spec for the money, that OLED alone makes it highly tempting but it's a cheap chassis compared to the Vivobook Pro and Zenbooks, so up to you what's more important.

Is it worth sending this Amazon laptop back for the one above, thank you in advance.ASUS Vivobook 15 X1500EA 15.6" Full HD Laptop (Intel i5-1135G7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 11) amzn.eu/d/9…6hY (edited)

Does this have a back lit keyboard? The description says no, but I'm sure someone mentioned that it does. Thanks!

    Yes it does.

Ordered this, few hours later had a call off them trying to sell me warranty
    BogaJonito's avatar
Did the same with me. Called an hour after I purchased it.

The way they do it is really sly. Don't actually ask you if you are happy to proceed, they give you all the information about it and then say you can cancel within 14 days and ask you to confirm your email address on the system is all correct and then say they will get the documents sent over. Never have they ever said 'is this ok?' or 'are you happy to proceed?' they did it a couple of years ago when I bought a dishwasher too!

I have no need for this whatsoever but it looks a good deal. Isn't OLED on a laptop a recipe for screen burn though?
    GBI's avatar
Smaller oled displays like the ones on the phones use a different sub pixel array that make them more resistant to burn in idk if this is like that.
  8. RJ1's avatar
Thanks. Ordered and returning my Currys order (which was an upgrade on the amazon laptop that was £229!).

BTW, if you signup you can get £10 off too, but there is a £3.99 delivery charge

Which AMD graphics is built into this?

    According to manufacturer website:
    AMD Radeon™ Graphics - 7 cores, 1800 MHz Frequency

Anyone have experience returning a laptop from AO? I know some sellers don't really allow laptop returns if there's nothing particularly wrong with it. Tempted to buy but might want to return if it doesn't fit my purpose. (edited)

100 days plus refund of delivery charges provided it's unopened. If it's opened they will make a deduction of up to 50% . Have returned a soundbar unopened from them without issue. (edited)

This looks good but can anyone comment on how this Honor laptop is in comparison?

    hotukdeals.com/sha…594
    Brian4545's avatar
Theirs a very detailed review here on the Honor, look like a good laptop but main issue is the power supply may not be good enough when running at high load, as such it falls back on the battery and starts to drain even when plugged in, a cheap £20 power supply would fix it but worth knowing

Does anyone know if this laptop can be charged and output to monitor via USB-C at the same time?
    Trox's avatar
Mine was delivered today and it would appear the answer is no.

The display outputs to another monitor from the USB-C via my dock, but the battery doesn't charge.

RAM & SSD are the same in terms of size.
The one here processor is not as good but for difference in price would stick with this one

Note sure about this one, but the SSD on the intel uses "PCIe 4.0" so that's the fastest type.

    Hey gang,

in a conundrum, this or hotukdeals.com/dea…956 ? Can’t tell them apart bar ram.

This is still available on AO’s EBay outlet btw.
    yus786's avatar
13.3” vs 15” in this one. Portability difference. Being restricted to 8gb of ram is a downside too. Build quality on the Zenbook will be better though (edited)

Any documented screen burn issues with this product line?
    BMF073's avatar
I believe these laptops will come with a asus utility that prevents screen burns

Decided to buy this on Friday with the £10 off for new customers (so I ending up paying £463 with the postage). Received it yesterday, which is pretty decent delivery speed. However, I tried to register for the warranty and I get the message that the serial number is already registered. Wasn't sure if this means that the laptop has been refurbished and isn't brand new so I emailed AO and ASUS for clarification and will post if I hear anything. EDIT. Got email from Asus to say I've successfully registered my product, so logged back onto Asus account and sure enough it shows the laptop as registered in my name. A bit strange, but seems fine.
I will say, for a 15.6" laptop this is much more compact than my old Dell with the same size screen. It feels more like a 14" in size - my Dell is 15" wide, just over 10.5" deep (with obviously same height screen height when upright). The Asus is 14" wide, just over 9" deep - so an inch smaller all around, achieved by having a tiny bezel around the screen and a more compact keyboard. Obviously much lighter as well. Whether it will be as robust as my 6 year old Dell, that is still going strong (albeit occasionally slowing up or failing to connect to wifi) remains to be seen. (edited)

I noticed the same thing. It feels and looks smaller than my old Acer laptop (because it is). But I measured the actual screen sizes and the ASUS is almost a centimetre wider that the Acer. It's a beautiful screen.

Awaiting delivery for this. How does this deal compare with this John Lewis laptop - johnlewis.com/asu…800
    Same price (edited)
    slim2357's avatar
I'm not the expert some people on here are, but I would say this one is much better as it has the OLED screen and a better processor than the John Lewis one and is the same price.

Don’t suppose anyone knows of this has fingerprint login on it? Bought one and can’t find it in settings so assuming it hasn’t

Cuz it's always raining here why would you want 2k in such crappy weather

Hmm. Should I return my Currys order that arrived today:

Is £69 extra worth paying for the OLED screen and slightly faster processor?

Would people say it's ok to get one of these now or is there still a chance for something better this black Friday?
    maxtesti's avatar
I ordered one now just in case it gets sold out. I've 100 days to return it unused.
  32. maxtesti's avatar
It seems a good deal. Ordered it. Hopefully, I've made a good choice. Thanks.
I'm having it delivered on the 28th just in case something better shows up on black Friday.

Anyone know what the speakers are like on this? Seems to reference "SonicMaster" but have no clue what that is. Seems other models in this line have Harmon Kardon speakers which I assume are superior but be good to know if they're decent enough to watch YouTube etc - I've been stung before by a relatively cheap laptop with speakers that barely got up to c. 25% of what you'd expect...
    i_need_bargains's avatar
    Author
Absolutely fine for YouTube. You can install the Volume Master extension for chrome which gives you a decent volume boost if needed. As with most laptops the positioning of the speakers is poor, on the bottom and recessed. Ideally I would want the default maximum volume level to go louder but overall they are pretty decent. Remember in Windows 11 to activate enhanced audio under the sound settings. System > Sounds > Speakers. (edited)

Ordered one and rec'd yesterday. Haven't opened it yet as I'm going to see what Black Friday deals come up. Did this last year and same thing, got a cracking deal in Nov and nothing in Black Friday or Christmas deals beat it. This seems like a cracking deal, should be even hotter in my opinion.

Also in terms of heat..does it run hotter than intel?
AMDs were known to run hotter but not sure if its changed with new tech..i haven't had AMD for a while now hence asking..experts please advise (edited)
