Pay £50 more and get the Samsung Galaxy Book2 with i3 12th gen, 8GB RAM, IPS, WiFi6, better deal, IMO. I appreciate paying more is not an option for some, 20% more may be a lot, but I do believe it is worth the difference if you can afford it.

This is a HP which means the hinge mountings will disintegrate, HPs build quality is shocking, even in the Probook and Elite book ranges.

Assume it's soldered as the spec sheet says: 'Number of User-accessible Memory Slots: 0'

Do people think this is the best £200-300 laptop deal about at the minute?

This is ok for the price and for a mid ranger. However the AMD Ryzen CPU is a no-no for me. I would want minimum i3 at this price point.

    Its not IPS

    Its not OLED

But its less than £250 with a 250gb SSD drive and Ryzen 3 5300u processor.

Intel's 12th gen Vs 11th gen is such a big jump , that it'll last a year or 2 longer, including battery life, the fact it has WiFi 6 , better screen.

This thing looks bland and uninspiring, £50 more gets you Samsung book2 which is a little bit more ambitious

I can get this for £200 using my HP discount. But can anyone confirm what Windows in S Mode is and whether this would impact its use as a ‘take to school’ PC?

Bought one at £225 , very good for money, upgraded ram to 16gb and have bought a replacement ips screen for £40 off eBay (yes I could have bought an ips laptop, but a lot of those couldn't be upgraded elsewhere....) Played cities skylines over Christmas quite happily , as for work seems fine to me. £20 WiFi 6 card could be added but haven't doubled checked

what ram does it need and how much does it cost?

Did you remove the 4gb ram and replace it with 2 x 8gb? (edited)
