Before taking out a contract make sure you can get Virgin Media installed in your property. I signed up on Black Friday for installation on 20th December.
On the weeks leading up to the installation date I had a few engineers do some work outside my property to run the cable. None of the engineers told me what they were doing until I approached them which was fine I had no problem with, but on the day of the installation the engineer turns up has a look around my property and informs me that no cabling has been installed. He then goes back to his van makes some calls and finds out that the cabling will be installed in February!
At no point did anyone at Virgin inform me of this prior to the installation date. I even spoke to them on their WhatsApp chat a week before asking if everything is set for installation and they said yes.
They didn’t tell my previous provider that the installation wasn’t going ahead so they went ahead and closed my account for the transfer leaving me without internet and so I had to sign up to a new contract. I was also at risk of loosing my telephone number as it could of been reallocated while the line was cancelled. Ended up cancelling with Virgin so now I’m just going to wait until FTTP is available. If you got a go live date and they didn't hit it then auto compensation would have kicked in. It happened to me and I got a credit of £100's on my bill as they had to dig up the street which took months.

Did anyone opt for the free LG TV on sign-up to this deal & have you received it yet? Still waiting on mine to be delivered with no correspondence about it or if I'm actually getting it?

    Mine came today

I've just negotiated another 18 months of this deal minus the sim card for 74 pound a month for 18 months through whatsapp. I was paying 79 pound a month with the sim. Initially they offered me a supposed deal at 95 quid a month, absolute jokers.

People still have time to watch so much telly? Working backside off to just get through, cant even imagine of having so much time to watch tv and etc etc

Here and there. It's either that or a bit of gaming then bed, time is so restricted only a few hours of shows and back to work / sleep (if you can afford sleep that is )

I always smile at those who think it's expensive. It's a fantastic price for what you get, assuming you need the parts. I often think i could live with the broadband and odd streaming service, but the price alone for a good speed broadband is in the £40/50's. Given we all need/use phones add at least a tenner for the phone package and your at the price already.

I always see the TV package as free or close to free when you consider the parts and the price to get them alone

I tried to upgrade to this and Virgin wouldn't do it - which is a pity as they would have gained more business from me.

short sighted to only give new customers the best deals... does not engender loyalty

I'm on virgins 1Gig broadband and it's been nothing but a nightmare, it might be fine for a day then the next day it's nothing but issues, the technicians that come out are not really technical as far as I am concerned and all you get is someone comes out and replaces the router....funny enough I spoke with virgin due to issues prior to Christmas which hasn't been followed up but they blamed the issue on the devices connected to the router, so all my devices are at fault and as far as Virgin are concerned everything is fine there end, everyone has different experiences but Virgin are terrible in my book, sometimes I think people get fixated on these high speed broadbands, my self included but in reality you will never really download anything at 1000mbs and you end up paying for something which you never really get or use.

Can you cancel the O2 contract immediately within 14 days and just keep the Virgin Media Package or have they plugged this little trick now?

I changed my O2 deal from £25 to £8pm very next day without any issue.
People have commented in other similar deal thread that they cancelled all together without any problem.
  11. DBoniface's avatar
Cancel completely you run the risk of losing volt benefit which is double speed Internet and you would go to 500mb no financial penalties though
  12. IbeauI's avatar
Can you get this as an upgrade or only new customers only?
    TopCashbackRep's avatar
    Hey,

This would be for new contracts rather than new customers we believe

    Is this new customers only?

I cant seem to locate the deal on TCB.

This must be the high roller got money to burn package.

Not really... even if only taking into consideration the GUARANTEED £200 bill credit it's just under £68 a month.

For 1gig BB, sports, movies and Netflix and a 100gb SIM, it's likely cheaper than what a lot of folks pay in total for less when they add up their individual offerings.

For the sports and movies even on NowTV, likely to set you back £20-30 depending on the offers you get / don't get. (edited)

The best vfm Virgin deal is the Bigger Bundle with BT Sport which comes with a £155 Amazon voucher via Vouchercodes.co.uk (was £160 until yesterday and may rise again).

For an additional £12pm on top the price normally charged for broadband, you can have a recordable TV 360 box with Virgin's version of the Sky Entertainment package in HD and BT Sport Ultimate 4K.

Bigger Bundle with BT Sport is currently in the Winter Sale for £39pm with M350 and £45pm with M500 and each can be Volt increased to the next tier for O2 customers.

It appears that to get these package deals that you have totake the unlimited sim. As people have already commented you can cancel/changethe sim.

Can anyone comment on how this affects negotiations when itcomes around to renewing the contract again? i.e. Do you have to take a simagain or can you negotiate a good deal without including the sim?
    ferry4u's avatar
Just renewed this deal after my last 18 months deal. Rang up got same deal with out the sim didn't need it never said anything to me
  17. mickmartin16's avatar
My query would be…..why does it matter where you live in respect to getting this deal?
    gazzathegreat14's avatar
Some people need a Virgin BB box to get connected to their lines.

I have this deal for about 6 months now and think its amazing value.
Big sports watcher so sky sports amd BT sports is amazing and neflix included is a big bonus.
Cancelled the o2 sim, but I was already with o2 and my existing account then doubled up to to unlimited data as did the wife's (anyone at your address I believe - just register online)
Also got an extra box for £5 a month (already comes with 1 mini box) so now have 2 for the bedrooms.
The broadband is amazing especially as I play a lot of xbox. For info I did have issues with it dropping a lot with the hub4 but has been flawless since they swapped it out for the hub5.
All in all great alternative to sky, and much better value. (edited)

Isn't it becoming law that these companies must offer deals to current customers and not just new customers soon or did I dream it?

It's crazy that in 2023 we still have to cancel and become a "new" customer to benefit from deals, its a collosal waste of everyones time and effort.

I agree seems, loyalty isn't rewarded

Don’t forget the TV license that you will need as well

That's only if you watch Live TV

I have just signed up for this through Topcashback, thanks for the heads up. In the VM contract sent to my email it does not mention BT Sports? I'm guessing BT sports is included with Sky sports or Sky hd sports or its a typo on their part. I dont like typos on contracts So I will double check later on. Here is a SS of the bit that is a little confusing..

I don't think this is Ultimate Gig 1 bundle. Is it?
  23. mike.dixon's avatar
Is the tv offer in this deal also??
    Gold1e's avatar
Yes. There is a tick box near the end of checkout . The choice is TV or £200.

No worries. I can use the link that OP posted to get me to the deal (edited)

    Hi

    Need some advice please.

I am currently on the ultimate oomph bundle and put in for cancellation today for 10th Feb. Is it worth waiting for retentions or should I sign up for this deal (which expires tomorrow) in family members name?
  26. rebel1's avatar
i justed signed up with Virgin Media last week they offered me Gig1 Bundle, weekend calls, stream box with o2 sim unlimited data, calls, minutes for £40 a month 18 months contract, not sure if that was a good deal or not.. They promised me I will be getting Hub 5 instead they sent me hub 4
    Gold1e's avatar

Tried to get this as my sky contact almost ended.
Unfortunately our house isn't listed on their website even though both neighbours are, and one has virgin connected. Wah!
Up to 10 days to even get a surveyor out. (edited)
  29. F_Aq2Q's avatar
If I change the sim to the £8 one will it affect my top cash back?
    StevenW007's avatar
Shouldnt do no as I understand the cashback is for the purchase with Virgin media. The sim contract is separate with o2 and I’ve just downgraded mine to £8
  30. StevenW007's avatar
Anyone receive the hub 5 in their equipment bundle? My kit arrived today with the hub 4 despite the package clearly indicating it’s the hub 5 (edited)
    AbbasTheJinn's avatar
Hub5 has only just became available again today after a supply shortage
  31. JackD141_'s avatar
The terms state that Virgin can change your TV package if you cancel the O2 sim:

"if you were receiving the Ultimate Volt Bundle and you havecancelled your O2 Unlimited SIM, where you are the registered account holder of it, we may move your Virgin Media services to the Bigger Sports & Movies Bundle (or the nearest equivalent bundle to Bigger Sports & Movies available at the time). If you would prefer to move to a different package, you should call Virgin Media to discuss your options. "

I was told on the phone that they would up the charge to £79 from £54 in this case. Has anyone experienced this?
    jack201's avatar
    That seems fair enough
