Can anyone tell me what sort of power this cpu would use for general browsing/YouTube, and maybe gaming? Thanks in advance.

How is it different from 5600x

Its aimed at a different market to be honest, if you have a dedicated GPU, you want a 5600 as its only £10 more and a better CPU if you have no use for the onboard graphics on the 5600g

Is this a good price, I'm still holding for this to drop just a tad more

Keep looking at the other sellers on Amazon, got it from Amazon Europe for £114 a few weeks ago. Price changes very often

Some B550 boards are priced ok. The linked board is decent:

AM4 is still the best value option. Nothing uses PCIE 5.0 yet. The first products were meant to be SSD but they dont have release dates yet. Feel free to waste your money on new Intel, Nvidia and AMD rubbish if you like.

This 5600G has always been a great option for PC builders due to its GPU performance. (edited)

I remember when B450 boards were as cheap as £40, AM4 is starting to lose it's value incentive

Great little CPU for browsing, watching videos, office work, playing games like world of tanks.

Unfortunately the prices of budget AM4 motherboards have gone 50% up in the last 6 months so I think at this point it's worth paying a little bit more for a good mid-range board that will support an upgrade in the future to something like 5800X3D + PCIe 4 GPU:

What about team intel motherboards have they also gone up 50%. I would put the money into the cpu if that's the case and go for intel cpu

Just done a new build with this, very happy with the performance of the CPU and the integrated graphics included all for c. £120 makes this untouchable at this price point.

It occured to me that AMD hasn't release an R3 model in ages. The. It occured to me that the last gen R5s have been a similar price of the R3s. Looks like AMD is done releasing 4 cores on desktop from now on.
