Something to bear in mind is the pixel 5 software support window closes in October this year.

Happy with that as it's such a good phone.

Mine has arrived. Average condition. The plastic strip between the screen and the casing of the phone has a section missing on the corner of the phone. The USB port, speaker port and mic grilles on the bottom of the phone all have the coating of the casing worn away around them quite a bit.

It also arrived in a messy condition with sticky marks on the back of the phone and clearly hasn't even been cleaned between prospective owners - I won't be owning this, it's going back.

I'll Accubattery test battery health before returning just so we know that too.

That's really disappointing considering they are being sold as excellent condition.

I wonder if you can get away with using the 2 free cinema tickets before returning the phone for a refund?

I've just received mine. It's got some marks on the rear but otherwise it's cosmetically very tidy.
Biggest problem to me is that the USB socket seems to have problems - I have to position the charger plug very carefully or it doesn't work. I've already checked my USB cable in my laptop and my current phone - it works fine in those.
I think I'll be sending this back.

So this Excellent is worse than ebay Good condition

Guaranteed updates end in 9 months (14 Oct 2023) so for those wanting the latest android version and security updates then it you may want to avoid.

Still a great phone with an excellent camera and nice 90Hz OLED display in a compact size.

I'm a Pixel 2xl Owner there are dedicated forums which are still supporting my Pixel 2 with Security updates & OS updates, Pixel 5 is also supported by the same community, Pixel 2xl & Pixel 5 pixel phones are well loved & supported, Everyone who sold their Pixel 5 regretted it which is the last best Google phone with Unlimited Photo Storage

Check the build as initial batches shipped with gaps between the frame and screen.

Call 020 4516 3885. It will go to an O2 voicemail. I didn't leave a voicemail but the owner then phoned me straight back on his mobile number. I'll not give that out here.

I'm told that dispatch will send me a Royal Mail returns label shortly. I'll let you all know once I receive it.

Oh and Accubattery says 70% on the battery health. Never 100% accurate but ballpark accurate and that's an abysmal ballpark too.

TCB has an extra £10 off code too but it doesn't seem to work for me.49303924-XJ4Wt.jpg

Important for anyone who didn't read the article: It is free unlimited *compressed* storage only. Original full quality you'll still have to pay and consider storage allowance.

£5.25 TCB tracked already and used HELLOZAK for £10 off too.

If the pixel 6a is available for £199 or at least was recently then which would be the better phone? Potentially putting Graphene OS on!? Thanks in advance.

6a no wireless charging, bulkier, heating issues.. 5 all the way for me

I just bought one of these for about £200 on Ebay the other day, refurbished in excellent condition. It came in pristine condition, with just a charging cable.
It was at 24% and initially took over 5 hours to charge. I've now installed all the updates and it seems better, at 69% percent says 15 hours of battery time left and 45 minutes for full charge, but says it's charging slowly. Can someone advise - is there a specific cable/wall charger I should use and if that all sounds normal? Seller offered that I send it back for a refund but of course I'd rather not if unnecessary. Thanks!
    deleted531767's avatar
You can charge at up to 18W wired or wirelessly. If you get a charger than can deliver 18W it will charge at a reasonable speed, but not super fast like some phones.

You don't have to get a Google wall plug or cable. Just used a reasonably well know brand from a decent supplier. (edited)
  17. Wooj's avatar
Anyone ordered one of these? I got my 'excellent' condition phone. It's filthy. Charging port, speakers all full of fluff and dirt! Corners are pretty badly scuffed. I've put it on to charge and will report back as to the battery life
    Wooj's avatar
Phone won't charge as port is blocked with fluff and dirt. I think this is going back!
  18. crumpetman's avatar
Did anyone get the email about the free cinema tickets? I haven't/
    deleted531767's avatar
Yes. A few days after the phone arrived. Give it a few more days and you should get it. (edited)

Best phone I've ever owned. Don't know which device I'll move to after this :/
    Vasily_87's avatar
Same, was so tempted by some of the deals on the 6pro recently but it's a monstrosity.
Only other gripe, I loved the fabric Google cases and they are like hens teeth.
  21. kawsar17's avatar
Just love the design of this phone, the symmetrical bezels all around <3. Great form factor, great build quality, nice n light. The Perfect designed phone (edited)
    Wooj's avatar
It's so true! So much love for this phone but Google barely promoted it, especially compared to the huge marketing push for the P6/a and P7
  22. trd's avatar
It's hardly better than a Pixel 4a which is 2/3 the refurb cost... No faster either in lab tests, just a slightly bigger battery and the additional ultrawide camera lens. Also the 4a has a 3.5mm jack which this doesn't!
    crumpetman's avatar
What about 5g and wireless charging?
  23. p3108's avatar
Anymore feedback on whether any of these were actually 'excellent'?
    mikeyjai's avatar
Got mine, a glance seems excellent
  24. edwin29's avatar
Fingerprint sensor on this is the best I've ever used. So quick and reliable.
  25. phantompti's avatar
Still arguably the best Pixel to date.

If you prefer smaller phones. (edited)

It’s a shame these phones got bigger, I think the pixel 5 and iPhone X size was perfect. *He says while holding an iPhone 13 Pro Max*

Anyone gone from a galaxy s9 to one of these? Battery in my wife's s9 is absolutely useless now.
    laurypop's avatar
s9 battery is awful even when it was new. My wife barely could leave the house with it. Pixel 4/5 battery life much better. Pixel 5 way better than S9.
  28. SClub's avatar
Disappointing feedback guys. Picked one up from Cash Converters for £160 posted with supposedly 100% battery health. Fingers crossed it's a good one!
    SClub's avatar
Just to add, my phone from Cash Converters arrived and has light marks to the screen, but is otherwise excellent. Battery is showing as 90% from first Accubattery charge. Lastimg ages either way.

Really enjoying using this phone already, so will probably shift on the Pixel 6A. Feels bulky in comparison to this one...then there's the fingerprint scanner!

Fingers crossed for those of you who bought using this seller.
  29. deleted531767's avatar
My Pixel 5 arrived, and after a first look and very brief testing it seems to be in excellent condition.

No damage or scuffs on it at all. Screen is also perfect. Speakers don't sound that great, but I'm using a Sony Xperia 1 iv as my main phone so probably not a fair comparison. The speaker at the top of the phone doesn't sound as loud as the bottom one when watching a video in landscape view (is that normal with a pixel 5?).

I need to do a few more days testing the battery, but so far it drops from 100 to 80% fairly fast, but then lasts ages and drops very slowly from 80% and below even with heavy use.

After a few more days of testing the battery seems to be very good. I looked more closely at the screen and noticed a few small, but not deep scratches.

One thing I did notice. I got my dad a refurbed pixel 3 which was in perfect condition. The stereo speakers on the pixel 3 are a lot better than the 5. The 5 has really unbalance sound. The top earpiece speaker is the rubbish one. (edited)
    p3108's avatar
Really glad yours worked out for you hopefully. As ever it seems this 'refurbished' phone market is pot luck.

Just had a surprise email from the offer I placed on Mozillion. I offered £175 and used the £10 off code so £165 final price and the phone has now been dispatched. I didn't bother to delete my offer after the excellent in black was showing out of stock. Hopefully, the one sent to me will actually be in excellent condition.

    Black or Sage?
  31. Dan_Tube's avatar
    Best small phone atm
  32. crumpetman's avatar
Received an "excellent Just Black" today and I have to say it's pristine. No marks, scuffs, scratches or anything.

Charged upto 50% on usb-c while it copied the apps over from old phone. Have got accubattery installed and will check the health over a few charges but so far I'm happy with the phone for £165.
    p3108's avatar
I bet there's a lot of Just Black out there that are newer in age due to the Vodafone £317 deal in July 21 whereas the Sorta Sage were probably mostly bought on pre-order in Oct 20.
  33. alexjames2320's avatar
Hi guys, I just thought to share this with you for anyone having issues with the battery life, do all the updates available on the phone, and there will be an update of 24mb that will potentially fix the battery life. I had a lot of issues the first days I bought it, with the battery draining very quick, but now it's fixed.
    deleted531767's avatar
I've been testing the battery a bit. From 100% charge with some light use over 2 days I am still at 77%.
  34. p3108's avatar
Use code HELLOZAK for £10 off.
  35. tank86's avatar
Good deal, I paid £300 for a VGC P5 from music magpie last year but sent it back cos the battery was knackered. Nice size phone, the P6 is a brick in comparison
  36. p3108's avatar
You can also make an offer on Mozillion rather than paying the buy it now price. Worth a punt for an even cheaper price. You can still use the £10 off code on the offer too.
    crumpetman's avatar
How long do you have to wait for the offer to be accepted or declined? Or if no accepted, does it just stay they until 30 days have passed or the buyer deletes it?
  37. jrawlins28's avatar
Great deal with the code. Near enough the same as 'good' versions were from music Magpie on ebay
