Very helpful, I may get one. I’m currently using an Apple Nike Sport band with mine which looks great but also fancy a metal strap too and this looks very nice too.

The Apple Watch Ultra saved my life after I noticed my blood oxygen level dip to below 67%. Spent two weeks in hospital with pneumonia and then later diagnosed with sleep apnoea. And thanks to the Apple Watch Ultra for notifying me that my blood oxygen level was low, otherwise I would’ve been dead by now. Safe to say it was money well spent!

That’s very fortunate and best wishes for your recovery.

From what I’ve read though, blood ox is very unreliable on all smart watches right now. Early adoption is an important step in the development of these technologies (pulse measurements for example have become quite accurate). But I wouldn’t rely on the Blood Oxygen measurements even for fitness tracking, let alone medical emergencies.

I was considering upgrading my S5 for pulse ox (for fitness tracking), but will wait a few more gens now.

I don't think I've ever felt so old as when I read all these people saying "great deal" over what is essentially a fancy fitness tracker for £700

If you spend 699 on a watch that will be out of date in 3 years or so, you have more money than sense (edited)

Worked on a construction site with stainless steel apple watched for 4 years and screen is flawless, although very minor damage on the stainless steel chassis. It’s been battered by bricks, concrete, brick dust etc, although I am careful with it still, it can take it but sometimes luck is not on your side so never used a case or screen protector and is the reason I will never buy the Aluminium version. Now have the Ultra and its great😄

Heat for the price especially if you compare to the SS and titanium series 8 models. You get more for your buck. However, this watch isn’t for everyone, go into an Apple Store and put it on. As it’s a standard Apple Watch on steroids. Absolutely no denying the watch has loads of features, how many you will take advantage of during your day to day, is questionable. However, it’s in the apple eco system so naturally we want the latest and greatest from Apple.

I’ve used all the versions apart from the ceramic and Hemes versions since the series 3. Use for fine tuned notifications, running, cellular, music, messages and of course telling the time. The Ultra is no different from the standard model in those regards. You get a chunky watch on your wrist which is very light and durable. Battery life is relatively impressive too.

It’s a personal choice if you like it though. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Ultra 2 gets slimmer. A lot of people recharge their devices overnight, therefore the battery life doesn’t bother them unless they are a heavy user. By all accounts, not everyone is a heavy user, or they aren’t a heavy user every day and they don’t need sleep tracking.

The titanium finish is interesting, it’s solid however it will scratch, the stainless steel graphite coated watches are proper scratch resistant in comparison.

After a month of owning my Ultra, I reverted back to my standard size Apple Watch. It feels tiny in comparison and I had to to double check it was the 45mm and not the 41mm! Took me a few days to adapt and I am not missing the Ultra anymore. The Ultra has its place, and naturally loads of people will buy it for the design and because it’s the latest and greatest from Apple, however, I can’t see it catching on unless it’s slimmed down. A lot of Apple loyal people will buy this, however, they won’t use its full capability. It’s more of a fashion statement (there will be lovers, and there will be haters).

It’s like comparing the standard iPhone non pro version to the pro max version either. The price you pay, will you be using all the extra features apart from a decent camera? However, some people prefer a bigger phone, and I respect that.

For the price, compared to the other watches, it’s fantastic value even at full cost. At this discounted price, it’s a bargain. Just make sure it’s something you will utilise as most of us will use it as fashion accessory. (edited)

Do not say it is bad product just interesting after I spent £700 on watch what I'm getting different in my life
I know I can get more notification because watch always with me so i will be distracted more , track my steps etc , Temperature , Heart rate and what to do with these results
I will know from car to office I use 20 steps burn 3 calories and my heart rate is 80 etc and my temperature 36.6

Now I know this data that from my car to office 3 calories burn it is change my life ? Im become more active

I do see maybe it is good to buy if you sport person and need device to track your results
But general office person what you gain getting this watch compare to cheap watch for say £100 ?

Do not argue about technical details yes it is very good watch I'm more interested after I will spent £700 how is my life will improve ? Because for £700 you can have 40 x 12 = 480 1 Year Gym training where it is improve your health and you left for another year

Because I got galaxy watch 3 and now got Pixel Watch with LTE and got spare galaxy watch 5 I can see all the data but then start think and what I can see heart rate I can see steps but I'm not slimmer
and then start thinking LTE watch they use cellular data so more radiation to my hand because antennas close to my body So im using watch all day long plus night want to use track my sleep just do not know why i need to track my sleep So my LTE watch radiate to my hand constant radiation and make me healthier

I saw YouTube massive argument where people complain about smart Elec meter because they transmits data constantly but these elec meters 5 meters away from humans Bu they all wear smart watch with LTE on the hands (edited)

To add to this I am considering this item. I know it is expensive and I hear what people are saying “there will be a new version next year………. Etc etc etc”. BUT consider this Apple products last! In 2012 I bought my first iPhone, an iPhone 4S. This served me well for 7 years and still working well, except no longer supported on IOS. My iPad, also bought in 2012 again served my wife and I for over 7 years and still going, but no longer supported. My MacBook Pro, bought in 2016 and this too still going strong. What I am trying to say it does not matter when you buy an Apple product. They are built very well and will last and serve you well. As a bonus the products do have good resale value as well.

No 1 it's a members club so doubt anyone would price match and No 2 what would you not give business to a business that is offering the best price anywhere and give the opportunity for another vendor making a huge margin to match the price and add one more sale to their tally and increase their sales?

Currently have AW3 Nike and using the M/L strap, what size strap would be best on this? I see it comes in three sizes, S, M, L.

You should measure your wrist and refer to the Apple website as the info is all there. FYI, I am using the Apple Nike Strap (44mm) M/L with my Ultra and it fits perfectly. The Alpine Loop that I got with it is a Large and is perfect for me - my wrist is 185mm.

Still at least £200 overpriced for me.
I am going to order one from Apple and try it for a week then send back, just to see what the fuss is about. I think It is too big for me really but if I do end up liking it I'll pick one up cheaper after the Ultra 2 comes out.
It ultimately will end up worthless and at the bottom of a sock drawer so no point spending more than £300/400 for a smartwatch. I know that applies to smartphones too but you NEED one of those in life nowadays, you don't really NEED a smartwatch (unless you have cardio issues to monitor).

Amazing deal - cheaper than a series 8 and much longer battery life. Grab it while you can and save £150 (18%) off normal price - cheapest I have seen before this is £819. Still worth it if you are not a Costco member as that is only £15 for online shopping and you save £135 (16%). You rarely see Apple products with double digit savings.

Yes those two band options are awful but you are making a great saving here to just buy another band

MyMemory have some great deals on genuine Apple bands, cheap because they are discontinued colours/options
Most of them are reduced anyway and then have a £12 off code !

Does anyone know how much the retailers get these sort of devices for?

If JL does it normally for 849, this surely either is sold at a loss (or offset against the lifetime valuation from selling additional Costco memberships+goods, to the Apple users who are normally higher spenders) or near cost price? Can't see someone who runs a ship as tight as apple would let retailers have more than a single digit margin. (edited)
    N1AK's avatar
    N1AK
The price to retailers isn't fixed. It's normal for brands to agree to price support during offers (the brand will rebate half the savings for example). I don't know if Apple are doing something like that in this case or not. It's also possible Costco are running it as a loss leader to acquire members and/or publicity. Personally I suspect that Apple is happy providing some kind of discount to Costco in order to drive some additional Ultra sales, not least because getting additional users onto a premium product like that would be attractive from a likely future revenue perspective.
