About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

You are getting the mini-arcade and also the as yet unreleased first expansion card which contains a further 10 games. That is retailing on its own for 8000 yen (£47) so in theory it makes the console under £100.

Whether you think its value for money is one thing but if you are in the market for one of these it's cheaper than getting the console on its own from one of the western distributers. Maybe there is potential to sell the expansion pack on it you don't want it as well..

Pre-order for 22.12.22. At the current exchange rate its £139.44. No other fees to pay.

Value is in the eye of the beholder and I love these things so it's a deal for me but I get it's not for everyone. Posting for anyone who likes these mini-consoles!

Bonus points if it has flashing lights and a crazy soundtrack!

The Egret II Mini is great, love the screen rotation to play games in TATE mode.

Very good price, especially as the expansion is supposedly around £50.

But, the real reason to get it is that it's now been hacked and they've installed Batocera. Sadly not been released yet, but you can see some progress on this youtube channel

Yes you need a different account. Its really easy though. Make sure to select the English language option on the website.

This preorder has been up forever, but good idea to post it. The hardware is quality and the "transforming" screen is a game changer. I will not recommend it with the stock games as the ratio between good and crap is not in favor of good - but if batocera will be released then it will be gaming bliss. I have also been following the hack scene - it has been awfully quiet for the last month, but I believe it will be released.

Does anyone know the list of farms this contains? It looks like a nice little unit and I would agree that the value is in the enjoyment it brings.

Mine is still sitting here in the box that I got from Amazon Japan months ago when they came out, no where near this price if I remember right !

I thought that too, but just checked mine and I got it in March and it was £138 - So in this deal you're essentially getting the £68 expansion for free. (I thought it was around £50, but after shipping and taxes it got a bit silly)

Not sure the expansion is worth that, but makes it a good deal.

Get it, sell the card, and install the emulators.

I just wish I'd bought the trackball controller. Didn't think it was worth the price at the time for the 10 games, but if this thing is hacked it would be great. (edited)

This doesn't appear to come with the trackball/paddle controller which is a shame, would much rather have that than the expansion you get. Arkanoid which is a classic and Puchi Carat is a really fun game that's been generally forgotten about (and it has a comically awful translation).

Super Space invaders/Space Invaders 91 is a criminal omission and the lack of lightgun and driving games is a shame (although understandable given playing with a joystick isn't really authentic for those). The games list in general is a bit "meh" with a lot of terrible or forgettable games filling up the roster

You can get the trackball controller by other means, there are several Euro sellers or eBay from Japan, but you are talking over £100 for the controller and 10 games.

If the Batocera release can support it then it might be worth picking up, but I can't really bring myself to pay that for the included ones.

Mine has shipped - est delivery 28th december.

Mine has just been delivered - not a fan of the outer box - just plain white with writing. But that's just me being picky !

Delivery for mine also said the 28th but surprisingly turned up today.

    Well done DHL.

How are you finding it, would you recommend it?

Seems a good deal to me, the only thing putting me off buying it is the limitation in games - if Batocera happens and it works well this works be proper awesome (edited)

Mine just arrived. Only took 4 days from Japan to UK. Amazing. No fees either. Great deal.

For anyone interested, this link is still active but now points to Volume 2 games which have been announced. This includes Operation Wolf with a cyber stick package.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

The cyber stick seems overkill for a mini-console. I wonder what games it is meant for.

Yes I agree, it does seem too much for the size of the device, though I suppose it can also HDMI output to a big screen too. The cyber stick I think will work with Op Wolf and another game called Night Striker. Details are here - famitsu.com/new…tml

Also for info there was another firmware update to the Egret Mini on 25th August taito.co.jp/en/…ate it mentions enabling the Cyberstick as part of the upgrade.

Can't really see how it would help Op Wolf, as that had a gun. But Night Striker, yes (had never heard of it)

It's a lot of cash to play one game. But I guess someone will hack it for Mame etc.

This reminds me, I really should look into getting Batocera working on this.
