    OK. I'll start.
    "What drive is in this?"
    &
    "Is it shuckable?"

Seems like it is the wd140edfz which is a red drive. It can be shucked but apparently these drives need the 3rd pin in the sata power port to be removed because it Blocks the drive from booting. Looks like a security feature from wd to stop shucking

If anyone wants one, there are a few back in stock again. They'll probably keep coming in and out. I tried using a welcome first time 10% off order voucher as well, but that doesn't work on Recertified/already on offer items.

Just got one so unless it gets cancelled after the sale, it is still valid

    So did I.

That's just referring to the interface speed via USB, only expensive SSD's would be likely to approach 5gb/s speeds. From my testing you will get more along the lines of 210MB/s read/write which is pretty decent for a traditional spinning HDD. 49511993-Tb90u.jpg

I missed this because the subject said "14 Tb" and not "14Tb". Just sayin'.

    Both are wrong, it’s TB

Great price for this amount of storage. Problem is I would have to buy two with one as a backup.
    plewis00's avatar
That was my first thought - buy two just in case, as it’s so much storage to lose if it fails.

    Mad price.

Nice one cheers OP!! Never bought Recertified before but couldn't turn down this price! Brings me up to approx 50TB in my NAS now!

Beat me to it! My 10tb MyBook died over the weekend.. 6 months out of warranty so I needed a replacement to download my Backblaze backup to, glad I left it a few days. At least WD took pity on me and gave me a 20% coupon that took it down to £115.20, talk about price per TB! Should have ordered more for that price

    What does recertified mean though?

"Sorry. Insufficient stock for your request".

I was only asking for 1..
    Other sizes worked
    Possibly expired

Hopefully you will be able to buy these new for same price soon, given the current market for HDDs!

Apparently Enterprise bare drives are coming down in price, nearly parity on Shucking. Something to do with warehouses full of them cos of a failed Crypto thing based on storage idk.

I do know my 84Tb JBOD of, Linux distros, is bursting at the seams.
