Is this better than hyper x 2? I am due an upgrade.

They are. Especially if you get Dolby Atmos with it. Do not buy used, just wait for a new pair to drop to around the 180 mark.

Sorry but cold.  That gen of astros is buggy as hell.
You can get much better and reliable headphones for the same money

Never had an issue with these personally. The only thing I don't like is the touch controls on the headset to change volume mix, apart from that probably the best headset I have had.

I bought the cheapest one they had last night. It was £104 after the discount. I've had disappointing experience with wearhouse deals in the past but I have to say I'm impressed. It was listed as "medium wear, with obvious signs of wear" after reading that I was nervous about mu purchas. However today I'm presently surprised. The headset was In mint condition, not a scratch on the thing. The charging base even still had plastic wrapping on it. The only thing I think which made amazon list this as the worst wear, was the box itself - which was entirely held together with see through packaging tape. Have to say I've not powered them on just yet as they're out of battery. I'll be testing these tonight on my PC and will leave a follow up comment to let you all know if they're in working order. Looks like a bargin so far

Headset in full working order. Have to say for £104, it was a bargain

Picked up a pair of Logitech G Pro X for 40 quid using the warehouse, looked brand new. Earphones I'd say is a no go, but headphones for sure yes.

Mine just arrived - very good condition but would say these are like new. Box has been opened but no signs of any wear on ear pads and no marks or scratches.

Over half price - Used Very Good will likely mean it’s been opened, tried on and then returned.

This is good for A50s. I have 4 pairs of some older versions for the family so we can watch movies at night and not wake people up. They're super good and comfortable.
Not sure if they're different now though. I paid over £200 each.

Last pair of headphones I bought from Amazon Warehouse had been broken and poorly repaired by the previous owner (I assume) and then not checked well enough and sent out to me.

On the bright side, they did refund it after taking it back, but still a waste of time.

I purchased these in November last year for £119.76 from Amazon Warehouse. Outer box had a slight tear and that's it. All seals still intact. I might have been lucky but if your not happy just send them back

You definitely got lucky, Amazon's grading system seems to be a case of "mark everything as very good and see what we get away with".

I can only assume a lot of people can't be bothered with the hassle of returning which is where the money is. Amazon really aren't that convenient to return things to currently, and when I last returned an item from their warehouse storefront it took over a month to receive a refund through after being told multiple times by chat agents it would be sorted after 14 days. Eventually had to get someone to push the refund through manually on live chat at the 5th time of asking.

Good price but wouldn't go anywhere near them used.

Bought an ASUS ROG router recently which was supposedly in "very good" condition, with the only drawback being a missing manual which is pretty trivial.

What turned up was covered in sticky fizzy drink stains, ports filled with what I assume was cat hair, and a thick layer of dust accumulation.

God only knows what stains you'll find on these headphones.

I have these very good but I now have a xbox series x so can't use them. I am willing to sell them cheaper than this if anyone is interested
    Soulwaxuk81's avatar
Why can't you use them? I have these and a series X and they work fine.

Edit, ah I see I have the Xbox base unit with these. (edited)

Are these on par with hyper X or are not in the same league?

These are better - Hyper X are better build however if you want great sound, these with no amp and Dolby are better.

Just by decent headphones and a microphone separately, headsets the majority of the time suck.

As someone who already has good audio headphones (Airpods pro, Airpods Max, HD600) and home cinema kit.

    How bad do these sound?

I'm looking for something that does a decent job and has atmos.

I also have AirPod Pros and HD600’s - I would say these do not come anywhere near to the quality however they are for a different use case. They are great for gaming and the 7.1 sound with Dolby Atmos is great. I think the only better option for a gaming headset is the Arctis Nova Pro but these are 3x the price.

So I have purchased, but considering I want to primarily use with PS5, I presume a full set up is going to cost a lot or you lose features?

    1) USB only - average sound (Defeats object of a premium headset).
    2) With Astro adapter but lose 4k 120 (Don't mind buying, but losing picture quality is not worth it in my opinion).
    3) £100+ for 4K 120 adapter, cannot see an official branded adapter however.

I would maybe settle for option 3 if the headset arrives and is in good condition, but I am having buyers remorse on the fact it is a minefield and not straight forward with many wires to boot. I have the Pulse 3D headset, have I made a mistake do you think? I may return.

EDIT: Do have an LG OLED CX, I might be able to use the TV opticals option, but jesus this is a ton of work for a headset! (edited)

The sound is absolutely solid on these. More importantly for me, they are mechanically excellent to wear, flexible and tough, base station works well with my pc or xbox. They also have an inbuilt dolby atmos code. I used to use analogue headphones with a desk mic, but being able to still speak on a call while im getting a drink downstairs is a game changer for me, along with the comfort level while wearing glasses.

A really good set of headphones. But out of the box they aren't too great. I absolutely urge anyone getting these to download custom EQ presets which bring these alive.

Search for 'Zalias Astro A50 presets'. Some of his EQ's are very good. The one I've been using the last year or so is called 'Dystrylation' or something like that. Superb, clean punchy sound and not over the top bass or anything. There are many to choose from so take your pick. (edited)

Can you send me some presets please mate

Looks to be a great deal, Thanks OP, the box came with a seal one side and three rows of tape the other, box was VGC, all the contents appeared to be readily available, they look unworn even. Will charge and give them a test run, but initial impressions are favourable.

    This or turtle beach?

I mean there are a lot of variations of the TB. Which ones?

Research suggests these are still top tier and I will be further researching that later today when I have charged mine up.
