Just bought the 5700X at £175, however, sub £200 for the 5800X seems like a good deal.

    Worth the upgrade over a 5600? Running a 3060Ti at 1440p

For gaming? No. Most games don't use more than 4 cores/8 threads (if that) some bigger games are starting to use 6 cores, but you won't see much (if any) gaming improvement upgrading from a 5600 to a 5800X.

If you're using your PC for multithread productivity workflows then you'd see improvement, but whether the extra cost is worth it would depend on what said workflow was.

On top of that, the 5800X runs SIGNIFICANTLY hotter than a 5600, so there's also a chance that you'd need to upgrade your cooler. I'm running one of these with a 280mm EK AIO, and it regularly runs at 50-60 degrees under light loads, peaking around 80 degrees (albeit with a small overclock). I imagine it'd start throttling pretty quickly with anything less capable. (edited)

Not sure it's worth the extra £25 over the 5700X, especially for people without top end cooling.
They're going to have to spend a bit more (this thing gets HOT), and for a relatively small performance increase over the 5700X.

I've installed both of the above in PC's in the last couple of years, and I'd recommend the 5700X, at £174 it's a better choice. (edited)

I have had this for over a year and quite happy with it but I agree it does run quite hot. I got a Deepcool AS500 Plus and have good airflow with a 4000D case and it doesn't throttle but in a smaller case and smaller cooler I think it might. If I had a smaller or less airflow focused case I probably opt for the 5700X.

Yeah, decent upgrade for someone on an older AM4 processor looking to get some more longevity out of their system.

Could I use this on my b450 tomahawk (non max), or would I need to upgrade?

Make sure you update the latest bios and I believe it should do. What are you running at the moment?

Missed out on this so went 2nd hand. Although used they're grade A and they take returns. £160 is a good price.
