Is this a new age thing, what's a standing desk. Stand all day while I work, oof my poor feet

Like others here have said, great for my back and to alternate positions. I went from a Chef/Cook standing 13 hours a day to a desk job and honestly I was much healthier (and younger (cheeky)) standing. Also it helps a ton to have a soft yoga mat where you stand, softens the gravity on your soles while keeping the benefits of better blood circulation

I've had this for just over a year and it's perfectly acceptable as a budget standing desk.

It's super sturdy and a decent size. It's really easy to assemble.

As someone that switches between standing and sitting very regularly though, not being able to set preset height levels is a little annoying; you had to eyeball it each time. I've resorted to marking 2 notches on the cupboard adjacent to it. At the time this was maybe £50 cheaper than a similar (slightly smaller) Flexispot and I kinda regret not getting it. Not looking to upgrade though as it really does the job.

There is a website problem with this from ages. Spoke to customer care, but still no resolution. It's shows stock available, but when you actually go into checkout, it says below message. I have tried many areas, still the same.

This looks good, but there are no reviews to say how wobbly this is!
Have to assume that as it only supports 50kgs it will be less sturdy than the other competitors that appear on here. (edited)

I've used an ironing board in the past for keyboard and mouse, with my monitors on gas arms/stands. It's not ideal but you get a feel for whether it's worthwhile investing. And I agree with many above: I used to load heavy items in awkward spaces, my back became instantly worse with my first office job.

The other considerstion for me is that where I work is our spare room so I have to put my desk away easily sometimes, so can't commit to a powered desk. Another 'hack' is that I use this IKEA drop leaf dining table with it only half open and the handy drawers in the middle: ikea.com/gb/…87/

I fully appreciate that most people will think I'm absolutely mental. But a few, I hope, will think I'm MacGyver.

I love pictures like this that fail to show any wires! We all know in reality that when it’s set up properly the cables will look like a snakes wedding.

Like the price. Just the colour doesn't work for me, but heat

What a great price. If I already didn't have one I'd be going for it. Does it have memorable positions?

Doesn’t look like it has memorable positions.

tempted to get this and use my IKEA desk top with it. It’s 1400x800. I’m sure it’d be fine? Just drill a few holes

Does any one actually use the “standing “ feature of these desks for any prolonged amount of time or is it more of a gimmick?
    c58's avatar
Little of column a, little of column b.
I work from home and I use "standing" maybe 10-15% of the time, still it's a nice feature to have and I'd say if you're spending £100 on a new desk then and extra £50 for the option is well worth it.

    stock ?

Well that one that you linked to seems to be twice the price. And it has that annoying bar down the bottom between the legs. Both would be a big no from me!

Seems great deal but no delivery or collection available

Does a standing desk no wider than 70cm/700mm exist?
    tom49's avatar
You could convert one of the electric frames to do this. I purchased one that came with a metal bar to provide support when using it with wider desk tops. However, on a desk that’s only 70cm wide you wouldn’t need the bar and just the legs. Might be quite narrow to sit between though!
