Though these and the Sony tend to review as second tier in sound quality to much more expensive models in more recent group tests, compared to vastly more expensive noise cancelling headphones like the B&W PX8 and the very expensive Focal Bathys, that doesn't seem a fair comparison, to me, at all, headphones that three to four times the price.

The Momentum's great strength, along with far and away class-leading battery life, is in noise cancelation, the one area where most reviewers, even those who ranked the 'overhyped' Momentum as a distant last for sound quality in group test, have a consistent opinion on their merits, usually coming a very close second (or better-than) in noise cancelation to the, again, much more expensive Airpod Max.

I think if you have to have closed-back noise cancelling as a feature of your headphones and are a frequent traveller, the Momentum 4 and the Sony, are excellent value for money and that you are frankly much less likely to be mugged wearing them, as compared to the B&W, Focals or Apple product, and are much less likely to stand out like a sore thumb in the gym, wearing either one. Though I definitely don't need another pair of headphones, for me I'd be buying for the noise cancelling - HOT!

And whilst it’s a relatively minor thing I was torn between these and the XM5 - from a travel perspective these go flat in their case where as the XM5s don’t.

How are these when compare with BOSE (Bose QuietComfort® 45 Headphones ) ?? I am asking because I see both of them nearly in the same price range and I just started using BOSE headphones. (edited)

There’s very little to choose re. Sound quality and noise cancelling. Reviews will focus on one being better than the other but my ears can’t detect it.

The Sennheiser are more comfortable for me as they have much larger ear cups. THey also look more advanced as there are no physical buttons, the buttons on the QC45 (and the SE which is the same headphones only cheaper) make the Bose look cheaper. But if you prefer physical buttons then they might be a better option.

Final point, the Bose QC 45 fold up smaller than the Momentum 4, so if portability and the ability to stuff them in your pocket is important, then the QC45 might be best.

What's the ANC like on these for commuting (i.e. on flights, train, bus etc)? As the rtings review says it struggles with this. Also does the multipoint work well? Also any thoughts on how it handles wind noise? (edited)

Seeing a lot of glowing comments on here for thy is but I found the ANC terrible for commuting. Can hear people speaking around me on the train, and all other background noises, unless I turn the music volume up to an uncomfortable level

I have momentum 2, and was never really blown away by the sound quality. Are these worth buying for the improvement?
