I flew for the first time ever with Ryanair to Lanzarote last month, for a week.

I bought one of these bags, when it arrived I genuinely thought it was a joke. It was the size of a small kids backpack. Even the bag I took to uni was bigger than this.

Naturally, I was very worried. I was going to Lanzarote for a week, and I had to fit a week's worth of clothes. Bare in mind, I'm a overpacker.

I actually managed to fit a week's worth of clothes in this, and flip flops too! Several T-shirts, underwear, several shorts and a host of other things. I wore my jeans there, along with my jacket. Everything comfortably fitted (just about). I even managed to fit in a thick denim t-shirt too

After that experience, I think with some slight thought, a bag of this size will be enough.

The most intriguing part of your post is that such a thing as a denim t-shirt even exists!

Yes but then the capacity will be reduced.

Was on a flight with easyJet recently and they went literally mental with some guy in his on-board luggage. It was a tiny bit bigger than normal. He was at the front of the queue and they were simply trying to blackmail the rest of us watching into paying more. Poor guy got harangued by a foreign lady working for them and he just paid there and then. The rest of us were all biting our nails.
    bozo007's avatar
What has being foreign got to do with it? Most of the ground staff are from another company to whom easyJet has outsourced the work and they are penalised for being generous.

I always use vacuam suctioned bags when taking only hand luggage, you would be surprised how much extra you can squeeze in
    couponchaser's avatar
You need to have access to a vacuum cleaner on your way back as well.

I use the decathlon NH Arpenaz 100 on Ryanair flights, never had a problem
    sompan's avatar
    20L or 30L Arpenaz 100?

Mine just arrived all stitching coming undone and does not have YKK zips but instead SBS if you make a point of it having YKK zips don’t then send it with inferior ones . Mine is going back

    SEMI RELATED QUESTION

Does anyone know if airlines/airports have a complaints procedure regarding the weight shown on the scales? I have, on 3 separate occasions, been told the suitcase is overweight. Removing one clothing item has, in all instances, dropped the weight by 2-3 kg. This is impossible. Every time I've asked how this can be the check in attendant shrugs!

Out of consideration for everyone else in the queue I just let it go. I carry a portable hand scale with me, that I confirm is calibrated, so I weigh the bags before going to the desk just to ease my mind but it never does.

Heat, looking to buy one for my husband. Hopefully the airlines won't reduce it anymore as they have already done so previously. Another tip especially if you are a man. If you find yourself going on a longer drip, you can't fit anymore colthes in the bag, then wear multiple colthes. No joke, my husband did this, wore like 3 trousers, multiple tops. The flight journey was short so he was fine with it and he was able to get an extra 2-3 days of outfits to wear.

Whatever way you look at it, this is a small bag...
  11. Gtp75's avatar
Do airlines still check? Cant remember last time I was asked. (edited)
    jnm21's avatar
More a case (no pun) of they certainly CAN. I will never forget flying with an airline we were not used to & only realising in the queue for security that they had different dimensions to EasyJet & Ryanair (our cases fitted both them, but not the one we were using) - that was a nervous trip! (edited)
  12. iamw0man's avatar
Worth mentioning that the bag measures exactly but you can't overfill it as Ryanair is getting more strict and will ask you to check using the guide, which may be too small if you've filled this bag so it's almost bursting at the seams.
    jnm21's avatar
I love watching folk who have done that forcing their bag/case into the guide, then realising they can't get it back out!

A light wooden or plastic box with a harness you take off & pop in your pocket is what I want. Our IT luggage trolley cases with removable wheels are on a similar path - excellent!

Hot for as long as Ryannair keep their current rules. (edited)
    hugekebab's avatar
If they went any smaller you'd need to run your luggage through ant man's colon before check in.
  14. supamart's avatar
I’ve heard that Ryanair are now getting far less ‘flexible’ with what free bags you can take on board. This would pay for itself in an instant if you were to get caught, and made to put your bag in the hold.
    Pingupoo's avatar
This is the exact size for free Ryanair hand luggage so you should be ok.

Used the Albus on several flights last year, never an issue. I bought a 45l cheap rucksack from Amazon and no issues with that either.

I always put it under the seat in front. Can't stand the cheek of people putting them in the overhead lockers when people have paid for extra baggage and can't fit it in the locker above (edited)

Just what we needed for our flight next month. Thanks!

20L is a bit small for a free cabin luggage, unless you have pretty much nothing to take when you fly. I always use 30L rucksacks, and never ever had any problems. So, just look for a 30L one, it will perfectly fit in their metal cage in case they want to check you.

Was let of twice with a 30l bag by ryanair in the last 2 weeks, I probably could have squashed it down but it was blatantly bigger the way it was packed.

Lucky you. I find it a bit of hit and miss with airlines whether they will stop and check or just let you go through. Really depends on whether the flight is early or on time or generally if it is late they just let you through....
  27. Robdataff's avatar
Seems a decent deal, but even with Ryan Air, if you've a soft bag, you can stuff anything into the tester. It just needs to be a max of 20l. This is convenient, but is also tiny... I've got a 40l bag I've taken a few times, just make sure it's half full when you get to boarding.

£21 quid though, and hassle free.
    hugekebab's avatar

Heat for the bag, but this is literally the size of a child backpack, good for 1-2 day trips in summer, but I really struggled when I went to Budapest last year.

I use my Cabin Zero bag as my daily bag for work.

It's even got a tag on the side to keep your personal details if you ever loose it.

You can always return it within a year if not satisfied as long as you have not used it and you have retained its original packaging at your cost. Believe if you pay by PayPal it's free returns. They recommend recorded delivery so not sure if PayPal will cover this.

got 3 off amazon recently, for family holiday, were all £30 each, should have held off
looks like a good deal, and the bag is lined so quality looks to be ok, not too cheap (edited)

EasyJet now have a depth of 20cm so this is too deep for easyJet flights
    sydney871's avatar

I don't think so as you could just flip it to fit. In fact easyJet is more generous than Ryanair allowing 45cm height.

going away for a week soon, bought a soft squashy holdall to fit easyjet for £9.99 each, plus one hold suitcase between us. And I pack pretty heavy. How do people cope with the liquid allowance on board? prefer being able to shove stuff in hold. I know that some restrictions on liquid will be lifted at some airports soon, but still.

Miniature items of perfumes, after shave, shaving lotion etc (I use the free samples posted here ) also things like suncream if you are struggling then buy it at the airport or at your destination
    Hope this helps
