This Lenovo smart clock has a large 4” LED display so it's easy to read even when you're half asleep. Plus, the brightness adjusts automatically to help ease you out of bed on those early morning starts. For those that are complaining about Alexa not responding to commands, here is an easy solution.
Remove the protective film from the display. The microphone is behind the protective film, and the protective film affects it.
I collected one last night from Currys because of this offer, thanks Chanchi32, and when I was setting it up, I was having the same problem of poor responses from Alexa. I asked her if her hearing aid batteries needed replacing, but she couldn't answer that one.
I set it up as a bedside alarm, to wake me up with my local radio station, and that worked brilliantly this morning, but the poor Alexa responses continued. I then noticed that I had not removed the protective film from the display, and I wondered if that might be causing the problem, so I removed it and as if by magic, the poor responses from Alexa were cured.
It doesn't say anything in the instructions about removing the protective film, and many will not know that it is even there, it should have written on the film, please remove this before use. (edited)

Does this work as a 'Ring' doorbell chimer?
    _Jay_Kay_'s avatar
yes its like a regular Alexa device regarding setup.

Wonder if it could be used as a WiFi thermometer that could trigger an action when it reaches a certain temperature (switching on a smart plug to a fan heater for example)?
    TECHSPEC's avatar
It's temp outside, from the weather service.

Tbh I bought for alarm clock and temp and humidy readings. But their blooming outside 🙈🙈🙈🙈 (edited)

Shame they removed the night light and USB port that the previous generation had.
    davew2011's avatar
Oh, the one I bought has both of these .

sure you’re not thinking of the non-essential version ?

It needs a button to tell the time. I don’t want to speak or open my eyes while in vegetative state 30min before my actual awakening time
    BraddersJ's avatar
You don't want to open your eyes but you do want to blindly fumble for a small button... Have you thought that one through bud?

I have an echo dot with clock but the displays lowest level is still bright . This looks interesting but would I gain much over what I already have?
    aclondon's avatar
Yeh I agree, so now have a routing that turns the display on and off at certain times.

If anyone is still reading, this may be a possible Google alternative.

Does this mean 3 mths Apple Services (including music) even if someone is a returning customer? Just going to throw this out there - what happens if you buy, redeem the Apple code and then return the clock??
    starsi360's avatar
Well on the one hand you get 3 months of free music streaming, but on the other hand when you die you go straight to hell, spending all eternity suffering. Only you can decide if it's worth it.

Are these any good? On the The previous version the digits started to go missing after about 6months (edited)

i have one, its excellent no issues

Will this display song name like the new echo 5th gen with clock?
    TECHSPEC's avatar
No it's more of an old fashioned alarm clock with Alexa added. Displays time, with temp and humidity outside.
  13. LAS00's avatar
What is Apple Service? Abit silly for a Lenovo clock. Or is this just a throw away promotion

Can't recommend these lenovos if you want to use them as a smart assistant. Their microphones are really bad.
    giltbrook's avatar
Have you removed the protective film from the screen? When I removed that the audio commands were received much better.
  15. Nick747a's avatar
Is this similar to the google one? We have one and love it but wife prefers alexa
    mikepaterson's avatar
Looks exactly the same, I have the Google one, but decided to buy this as we have lots of Alexa devices, I will then sell m6 Google one.

Can I use this to watch cctv smart cameras tp link tapo ones?
  17. Pottermus's avatar
Previous model has the capability to turn off the clock display during the night on a timer basis so hopefully this one does also. Very useful and clock comes on for 5 seconds by pressing a single button if you do need the time. (edited)
    mikepaterson's avatar
It dims automatically when the light is out, but is still readable.

What's the speaker like on this for listening to audiobooks etc?

How are these as a visual kitchen timer? I can't stand using my alexa voice commands on my dots, they never hear anything and having to ask how long is left is so tedious, especially with multiple timers. Will this show numerous timers at once and not be asked to do anything after setting the timers?
    nhs007's avatar
Worse at picking up audio commands than Echo, Echo Show or Dots unfortunately
  22. SuperRandomGuy's avatar
I wish this had Google Assistant instead -.-
    TECHSPEC's avatar
    They do Google one too.
  23. Peterm1000's avatar
Does the screen turn off completely on this at night?
    TECHSPEC's avatar
Thanks to musicrab, I've just checked and screen turns off via Alexa app.

It does fade at night, on its own. (edited)
  24. Wr09's avatar
no usb support unlike the other version
  25. mickrick's avatar
What's the sound quality of these like? I have an echo show, which has great sound quality, and a nest hub with pretty crappy sound quality. So if these have decent bass response, I'm in.
    BraddersJ's avatar
Not a helpful comment but, I mean, it's half the price of those... (edited)
