For £200 more you can get it with the 6900H which has the better iGPU in the form of RDNA 2. Voted this hot anyway.

I've got the version with 5800h and don't think I'd benefit much from faster graphics, i don't play any games on it. The screen is awesome on it.

Is this USB-c charging or proprietary?
    Marcel's avatar

Proprietary, it has usb type c but don't think it can be used to change the laptop

7000 series cpus released but you still can't find 6000 series easily at good price. Most of the devices comes with 5000 series amd cpus. Strange

6000 series uses ddr5 ram which costs more which is probably why not many low or mid range laptops have 6000 processors.

I bought the 5800H version for my son when it went down to £550 on a lighting deal. He got it for Xmas and uses it daily for his studies.

Gets about 5-6 hrs battery life, lovely OLED screen. Build quality is good. Backlit keyboard and 16gb ram and 512gb SSD.

You can’t upgrade the ram but you can upgrade the SSD. Only thing is because it’s AMD it does not have USB C charging.

usb-c charging works on both my AMD 5000 series laptops...

Hmm. This or the Vivobook M1503QA-L1119W which has a larger screen but half the storage - meshcomputers.com/Def…692

    Just as an option

    I got this one about a month ago : ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED UX3402ZA 14.0" 2.8K OLED Touchscreen 90Hz Laptop (Intel i5-1240P, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 11, 400nits 90Hz screen)
    amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1
it was £699 then , no is £749
The Intel i5-1240P is less power hungry, I'd say the battery lasts about 5h. Removed windows vista (wind11) and got Ubuntu on it, the fans never kick in (some reviewers were complaining about that)
The build quality is good, better than the Vivobook (not pro) I bought and returned before this Zenbook
    Touch screen
Thunderbolt (works great with my docking station) and charging via USB C

I even played some games on it:
    - Darkest Dungeon
    - Trigon :Space Story

Others that I haven't tested yet but will probably work:
    Renowned Explorers: International Society
    Space Crew: Legendary Edition
    Rogue Station
    Crying Suns
    Convoy

An OLED laptop? Surely not. The screen will have burn-in, in no time
    Hammerheads29's avatar
They exist but some people seem to experience burn in and some don't. Guess it all depends on usage, static screens Vs moving images etc

    Nice

Looks like a great price for the spec but it's a weird mishmash of a configuration. Comparatively power hungry 5900HX with no dedicated graphics and a high res 16:10 display? Strange.
    Ega_Hacass's avatar
16:10 display is awesome for work. Regarding dedicated gpu, not everyone needs it, therefore this aims at professionals that do not need graphics.

    Battery life only 4hrs max.

With a bit of playing about with the windows power settings i get about 7 to 8 hours on mine, only light use though.

I am looking for a decent laptop which can handle CAD/CAM and rendering on Fusion 360, does anyone know if the iGPU on this laptop will suffice?
    Ega_Hacass's avatar
Most likely something with RDNA2 from integrated.

    Tempting...

Unfortunately, the 5800H version of this machine never came back down to the £502 price it was end of last year as it essentially was the same system with the 5900HX not offering a lot more. They all have the risk of a rattly/loose touchpad (which can be fixed) so worth checking first. The display is very good on all of them, but at this price, I would probably expect a ZenBook not Vivobook Pro.

I got one with the 5800h and 512gb ssd for £509 in November. It really was a cracking deal .

Anyone experienced burn in on OLED laptops?

would not recommend an oled screen for a laptop
you are going to be staring at a bright white spreadsheet/ productivity app most of the time

the panel is not lasting 5 years. you'll get burn in

its almost as though the manufacturers are putting oled into their laptops as a sort of planned obsolescence - which would suggest apple would use them, but even Apple are not stupid enough to put an oled screen in their macbooks

I've never stared at a bright white spreadsheet or productivity app on mine, it's mostly used for playing videos. Asus have technology to prevent screen burn anyway.

Has anyone got Amazon business access - can you see if it’s any cheaper on there ?

Did anyone get this? How you finding it?

I need to replace my xps 9550 that has just died.

It's great but this is overpriced imo. There are some great deals on the Lenovo Slim 5 at the moment.
