When looking more into the Azura there seems like there's not much to do on the ship compared to others like the TUI Marella ships - those that have been on it before, is that a fair assessment?

I appreciate that the difference in price more than excuses that, but just curious with the 2 days at sea.

No its not a fair assessment, i have been on 3 tui ships and 4 P&O ships and there is plenty to do on both.
EG on P&O you get a daily sheet outlining all activities on offer i.e Gym times , Execise classes, Dance classes, on Board Talks , Deck games , Quizzes, Library, Outside Cinema screen , several types on evening entertainment etc.

We were on the ship for a week from Malta last years in july going to Croatia which was lovely . The weather in Malta should be pleasant in April . We had a good experience on Croatia cruise not so much the canaries cruise on the same ship in December where they ran out of most beers and wine during the first week as could not get re stocked in tenerife. Food was not as good , smaller starters and limited choices in restaurants. Drink prices similar to normal pub prices , large beer £5 cocktails £8 soft drinks £2.75 and small glass of wine around £6.50 (Cotes Du Rhone) merlot a bit cheaper. Entertainment was mixed with good headliners shows and sometimes iffy comedians . If you feel sick then get some anti sickness tablets from reception for £7 if you need to see the doctor during normal hours we found them very good around £70 for consultation and prescribbed medication, they will however come to your cabin first and do a covid test before you attend the surgery, this may have changed since December. We are booked on our next cruise with P&O next month so all in all we have had a good experience.

    Double the price for solo

Pretty standard for any holiday accommodation although, admittedly, you would expect a little discount for not needing the extra plane ticket (edited)

If you book via Seascanner the price is £470 per person. If flying from Gatwick (charter with Tui) flight leaves at 6am (edited)

Anyone already booked on this have the flight times from/to Manchester? Seems a bit ridiculous for these to only be provided after you've booked, particularly when the cruise is only a month away so it's not like they're likely to change.

Knowing the flight times or even the flight number is frustrating. The trip to Malta was out with Tui and back with Titan airways. The flight in December was Special charter with Jet2 charter flight which totally confused me as Jet2 holidays normally only fly out of Stanstead and Manchester. We didnt know flight times til we were a month before. Another tip is if you do go stock up with beers (not spirits) , bottled water and soft drinks at Duty Free at malta port entrance before getting on the ship. Fridge in room to accomodate . Although the potable water from the dispensers is drinkable bottled water which comes in 500ml tins is about £2 a tin and not good value.

No. Pando no longer require it apart from their world cruise. It’s on their site

Did a fair bit of cruising pre pandemic and loved it. Have only done 1 since and 1 booked for May. Didnt enjoy the last one and reviews for forthcoming P&O cruise are a worry. Issues with staffing , food etc and covid all of which we experienced on our post pandemic cruise. That was last year so hopefully things are picking up.
Having said that if I could cope with the flights I would give this a try. Lovely neck of the woods. Not been on the Azura but did sister ship Vertura 3 times which we enjoyed. The cruise is cheap, no gratuities and entertainment should be ok. There is always lots to do for those who think there might not be. We never spent any time in our cabin apart from sleeping and the occasional rest after a trek around some port of call.

Do cruises like this include any meals?
    lynne1966's avatar
All meals included - absolute bargain!

I see no mention of inclusive flights back to UK -- are the flights only from UK to Malta? (edited)
    Technoman2's avatar
Flights are normally return both the fly cruises last year were anyway.

Great find. The Balcony cabin is the value imo at £1198 per cabin..worth paying the extra!?

Annoying that 2 months ago P&O were offering this cruise (and the 14 Night Cruise) in Apr/May with no solo supplement..arrggh, it was a bargain for a balcony cabin, missed out there

I went on the Azura in Feb and it was great!.. loads to do, would defo recommend the ship

The price seems fair if cruising is more important than the destinations, as the ports of call are somewhat repetitive. As I'm not actually interested, I only had a brief look at the P&O website, and though described as a fly-cruise, I saw no mention of flights. Does this mean that for P&O, you only find out about flights after committing to the cruise? Having just been on a cruise last week; I couldn't bear the risk of flying with Ryanair again, as my experience as a disabled traveller was terrible. Those seats were crippling for me. (edited)

On the 2 P&O cruises I've been on they've used TUI flights and have included hold luggage. So I'm guessing it'll be TUI but I can't be sure. Personally, I think the 14 night Holiday is great, that has this itinerary for the first week and then sails up and down the Adriatic on the second week.

P&o don't do any kind of drinks package right?
    dinglebert's avatar

Wrong. Pando do both soft and alcohol packages. However they are more restrictive that other lines and given the prices of alcohol on pando cruises not really worth the money.
