Anyone know what the return process is like just in case?

Awful, you have to package and return at your own cost:
    • Use a traceable carrier
Use a traceable carrier for transport or a signed for service (i.e., Airborne, Fed Ex, UPS, U.S. Priority Mail, etc.) with the post office (European/Canadian customers only) with proof of delivery. The cost of sending a drive to the returns service center for warranty service (also known as the return shipping cost) is paid by the customer. Western Digital pays for the return shipment (except for some Latin American countries). Western Digital will refuse any collect payment shipment. If upon arrival your products are out of warranty the shipment will be returned to you at YOUR COST and may be scrapped without further notice.

First you raise a support case, they then issue you with an RMA number and a return address.
I returned a re-certified drive that had failed on first use.
RMA Drive Received by Western Digital - 30 January (As shown on there support site).
First response by WesternDigital - 10th March (After multiple calls and emails).
    The reason for the delay:
"I would like to inform you that due to the relocation of our warehouses from Poland to the Czech Republic this was the reason for the delays with all our RMA shipments."

After complaining they gave me a 10% discount code which will just about pay for the return postage assuming I purchase another drive. They do not refund your postage even though they sold you a faulty product.
    Not a great experience....
I must be a sucker for punishement because I'm buyng another, if only to use the 10% off code.

Recertified drives any good? Unsure whether to get this or new.
    Swarfega's avatar
I have two previous recertified drives and had no issues.

Bought this 3 years ago for £52. Still works fine. YMMV.

    Much appreciated

Is there a 10% discount anymore for newbies?

*Seems there is - but it removes the existing discount:( (edited)

Can get 10% by signing up to mailing list I think.
Edit : Confirmed applying this discount results in a higher price. No other discounts I'm aware if. (edited)

Pretty sure all Xbox one games can be run of this drive. The Xbox Series games can be stored but not played.

Ordered, thank you. I needed a new drive as my old USB WD HDD, which I used for Windows Backup, is on its last legs and has become unreliable. After 13 years of daily usage, it certainly has done well. Will be glad to get rid of the slow USB 2.0 though!
  10. charliecroker1966's avatar
Just what I needed thanks although has cost me extra as have to buy a take away to keep her sweet when the drives arrives. Too busy (lazy) to clear the old ones and she knows

Has anyone had their order posted yet? Mine's not had an order update since the day I ordered (26th).

The item just got delivered by UPS 29/03/2023 @ 9:40, their site still says "Preparing to ship"... (edited)

This clearly isnt meant to be I ordered a Recert drive from WD back in early Jan, it was sent, arrived at my local depot and they said it was damaged. I contacted WD and all they would do was to refund, not resend but would likely allow me 15% off a non-recert drive.

I saw this deal pop up so ordered. It arrived today and the drive is dead, just clicks when plugging in. No matter the device (PC, NAS and PS5)

Back off to WD support for another awful experience haha. Feel slightly better now I've vented somewhere
