note for those buying one of these for a steam deck - performance will top out at 95mb/s read and 85mb/s write

this is due to the reader that valve have used on the sd.

This same card can go as fast as 130mb/s read and 120mb/s write in my laptop using a usb reader. (edited)

What's the best storage for steam deck ?

    I need some help

Do u think it worth paying almost double the price for SanDisk 512GB Extreme PRO which seems to be much faster? I am buying these for the Steam Deck.

    Thanks

Nope, steam deck won’t make use the those max speeds

Just bought it for £40, would send it back if I would not have installed it already.
    Not so happy!
    whatevernx's avatar
Do what I did and it worked.. order this new one and then refund the old one, but send back this new one instead when arrived.

I already have this exact 512gb card in my 64gb steam deck and it's running fine with games running from the card pretty quickly. I probably don't need another one but I've ordered an extra anyway as it's so cheap!

I still have the £5 voucher for picking up from an Amazon locker pickup location so this worked out at £27.99 for me (edited)

    These getting so cheap now.

None of the new phones have an SD card slot, so demand will have plummeted. Which seems daft considering Samsung manufacture them and the main use for these is phones. (edited)

Had to send mine back, it got really hot in my Steam Deck, and wouldn't work in my PC and Deck.
I risked a replacement one and that worked fine.
    Xtranathor's avatar
How did you work out that it was the SD card specifically that was getting too hot? The Deck itself already gets quite hot

    Bargain, solid card.

I have gotten a few fake Sandisk cards from Amazon, but haven’t had any issues with other brands.
  8. smcbeath's avatar
I ordered a couple of weeks back, lol. Only got my steam deck the other day. When will someone post a deal for a crystal ball that can see deals in the future.
    james_jew's avatar
It’s called camel camel camel and you can use it to see if your getting a good deal. Historically speaking.
  9. AppStar's avatar
There’s some negative reviews about reliability. Are they a genuine concern? Or did those reviewers buy fake cards by mistake from 3rd party sellers fulfilled by Amazon?
    greatnameuk's avatar
they have about the same amount of negs for the standard sandisk brand.
No sD cards are never 100% reliable, you should not rely on them for permanent backups etc.
the sandisk extreme PRO Deluxe versions, are probably slightly more reliable if you really need to depend on it. professional version but 3 times the price I think! (edited)

Would this work well enough for my GoPro hero 9?
    ArchBants's avatar
Yes. I have multiple ones of these for my Hero 9 and 10

Just upgraded my phone and gonna use my Poco X3 Pro as a secondary mobile.

Would this boost the Poco and speed things up?

    Or is it overkill?

Like my little Poco Pal but not sure if a Memory boost really helps in day to day operation.
    amillstone's avatar
It won't speed up a phone. It just adds more space for games/apps, photos, etc.
  12. Jonwillis's avatar
They are both U3 A2 (you can ignore class 10 now as that's quite old) which give you guaranteed minimum speeds. So I would say go with whichever is cheaper.

    Where’s the discount from?
  16. rev6's avatar
Cheapest I've seen it at Amazon. Bought it back when it was £35.99. A great fast card.
    amour3k's avatar
    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Put it this way, I bought a handful of the 256GB one's last Year, during Amazon Prime Day - for around £18 or so, a pop!

But, let's be real!, at this sort of 'price' for the 512GB one's, now?

    Well ...

Let's just say, for the LESS than double the price 'difference', it'd be arguably daft not too?

Well, that's how I see it, anyway? (something of which appears to be a common give 'theme' up here at this particular moment in time as well?).

    Etc etc etc. :-D

Really 🔥 paid £36 previously and thought that was a good price (edited)

    Yes

bought the 256GB version on amazon 2-3weeks ago.. wish I waited a bit. Would be weird return the micro sd without the package..just for get a bigger card
    amour3k's avatar
It's a sod's toss of the coin thing, to be honest with you?

As I bought a few of these exact same 256GB one's last Amazon Prime Day.

ONLY to find that some x-Month's LATER (via Amazon themselves TOO, may I add?), Samsung were selling their own 'branded' EVO II 256GB memory card's, for some almost £3 LESS per one, than that of what I myself paid for each of my Amazon Samsung Select card's!!!

    So ...

    Hehehehehe.

And yeh, this was all last Year too,, may I add? :-D

    Note to self:

Longgggggggg story short, price's sometimes have a habit of fluctuating allllllllllll over the place, or whatever whatever, basically?

Yep!, that's definately irony for you ...

    Hehehehehe.
  22. veedubjai's avatar
    £10 discount?
    Speculator's avatar
    yeah, stacked 2 promos.
  23. Redinho's avatar
That is super cheap, and would be better for my deck than the a1 card I've got... but... I'll just keep plodding along with the slow card I think
    rev6's avatar
    It's fine.
  24. Craigr's avatar
Cheers will order another for Steam Deck
  25. Byno's avatar
Bought one of these and a 256Gb on black Friday for the Steam Deck, not let me down yet.

    Great price, heat
  26. ramkmr's avatar
I want to use with mobile phone but unfortunately big brand restricting them
so no use but good offer
    greatnameuk's avatar
Your allowed to name the brand on here I'm sure 😃
  27. faceache's avatar
That's a big one, bought. No idea what I'll use it for seeing as all my tech is likely too old to be compatible but bird in the hand as they say.
  28. Crusty's avatar
Nice card/price.... If you go to Amazon itself it shows "About this item"
    • A range of fun designs to choose from (Unicorn, Duck, Dinosaur, Shark)
    • Waterproof & TAPED seams to keep you dry
    • Grown on hood
    • Model no. RKW264 B65CB1

If you look at the 128GB one it also shows a silly description. (edited)
    ayresey1's avatar
I noticed that as well but I thought it could be a weird error and if I order it anyway and it’s dodgy in any way, I can return it.

Excellent price. If you’re still debating this, get it before the time runs out. Ideal for Steam Deck, Switch and Aya Neo.

    still £32.99
  33. theskillster's avatar
Ah this was back up in price just weeks before!
  34. apts's avatar
If these are ok for Steam Deck I’m guessing they are in for a Switch?
    Player-1's avatar
    They are fine for switch
  35. MrFlux001's avatar
Bought the 256 for my steamdeck for £16 but this is the better option I reckon.
    burns94's avatar
So did I, thinking I might get this one and use other as spare.
  36. deleted2682029's avatar
Gutted. Paid £38 few weeks ago
  37. Zanpakuchu's avatar
Managed to get a £4 refund and £5 amazon credit by contacting amazon via live chat. SAves the hassle of buying another and returning so may be worth a punt if you bought at £40 for the steam deck.
  38. Gorskar's avatar
great price... might get one for my new steam deck even though I have upgraded the SSD to a 1TB one (from the original 64gb)
    Hmm....
    amour3k's avatar
    Quick question.

Those of you with a Steam Desk.

Other than upgrading it's storage capacity via memory card (256GB+ etc?).

Has anyone actually stuck ONLY to using the original 64GB internal storage capacity of which it originally came with, or whatever?

Or have the majority of you guy's opted to upgrade it's internal storage capacity beyond that of what it was originally sold to you as to begin with, etc? :-D

    Just curious.

    Thanx.

What's speed does the switch need? Got a 256Gb one which is doing 80mb/s.

Had it 4 or so year in my surface pro but wondered if I should get a new one or just use that? Not being used anymore in my surface pro. But it is a bit old, so that might be a problem.

That said longer lifetime that the 5 or 6 surface pro 5s I have gone through with all their dead pixels...
