Voted hot .Nice bit of kit but buy the outriggers for extra stability.
BlackHawk
Exactly. Don't use these without a pair of solid outriggers, they really do provide additional stability and peace of mind.
Greens1000
I've got one of these and use it a lot at height. Just take your time and ensure you are always using the stabilisers. Very sturdy when stabilisers are attached - feels very unsteady and scary without them!

I have just bought the premium 6m tower which is easier to erect from Amazon for £580 which comes with 4 outriggers and was supplied by BPS with next day delivery, tried it out on the weekend and it was very sturdy. I know it is near double the price but thought I would mention it as it comes with outriggers and I don't think I would use it without them.

This frustrated me when I first saw it, despite it being quoted as a 5 metre scaffold tower it takes several liberties with that measurement. For example, the max working height is only 4.75 metres, and given that the platform height is 2.75 metres I'm guessing it makes an assumption that the extra 2 metres is basically how far someone can stretch?
There really is nothing in that '5 metre' tower that can suggest 5 metres is achievable.
Skydrops
And the photo is deliberately misleading. They pulled the scaffold away from the house to make it look like the guy is at the upper window level. Put that scaffolding alongside the house and he's well below. Chancers.

How does this kit compare to rental ones? I was looking to do some work on the garage roof and saw you can rent a 5m tower for about 85 a week, but i could be interested in buying one instead.
hibees
Get the rental one all day long. It will come with everything you need plus instructions on how to build it properly. That looks like a rickety old thing to be on, even in the picture they use to sell it, it's built wrong. You wouldn't get me on that thing.

Outrigger stabilisers are described as ESSENTIAL EXTRAS for the 4m & 5m towers. Instructions say "BE AWARE: For anything other than light DIY or internal work we strongly recommend the use of at least 2 x outriggers on the 4 and 5m towers". Be bonkers not to have them - seems possibly naughty to split price tower & essential (their words) safety but guess other sellers do the same so to compete....

I wonder why they even post pictures without outrigger stabilizers. They look like death traps.
Good luck to all who would like to try cut hedge on 5m scaffold without outriggers lol (edited)

I guess if these are used correctly, they can save a small fortune on scaffolding. I've had a couple of quotes for external painting recently and one or two have quoted using these to do the job. A good £1000 cheaper than those quoting with scaffolding

This is an excellent scaffolding tower. Bought one last time it was on offer. Easy to put together and sturdy enough.

The cross-braces do not inspire and I would bolt it to the wall using some clamps so that it can not go anywhere... I would be tempted to make my own out of 4.8m lengths of wood which could later be used for other projects, not sure if the snoops from the council would be leaping up and down, though.

So many don’t do any kind of manual work, they call changing a bike tyre industrial…
I’ve used one before without outriggers, we just roped it through a window a few times.

@SebK isn't that price for the 4m tower (not 5m as in title)? Others, remember to look at the actual platform height to work out what you'll be able to reach.

I have a very similar one and can vouch that stabilisers are deffo advised! I didn't have them, but was working above the bedroom bay window, so essentially tied it through the bay windows for a bit of stability.. But I'd be quite uneasy at 5m without something holding me to the house..
On that note, anyone near Mansfield way that's after just the tower, I'm selling mine (wasn't planning to list until I've got round to the lean to to get it all out, but open to offers) 6.3m
could you buy 2 and take a section off one and add it to the other?
i've got sloping ground to deal with, and no back access

this is great for some new role-play ideas...

Those handrails look a bit high ? No toe- boards ? No stabilisers ? Freezing cold from me

Anyone know would 5 meters do for working on gutters on a standard house ?
slimy31
I'm not convinced it would. At a 2.75 metre platform height I reckon you'd be standing roughly as high as the floor of the first storey (given that floor to ceiling is 2.3 metres then maybe a foot or so for the floor?). If the first floor was outside I think I'd need a ladder or something to get to the guttering. You could maybe clean them from that height, but no work.
I think the 6 metre one would be minimum to do gutter work.

Recently bought the 9.1M "Trade Master Professional" version as we have an old 3-storey house. Not had chance to 'get it up' yet but it appears to be well made and looks like an 'easy erection'. The "Trade Master Professional" has a fold-out base that can fit through dooorways and can be quickly made into a small tower. Looking forward to spending the summer painting my guttering!

Why do you need to take it indoors?

You can either buy this for 280 bones, or pay your builders 5k bones for the same thing.

Be warned, although says in stock it’s NOT! Order this two weeks ago as promised next day delivery still waiting and so is the job I needed it for!
vishy01234
who needs scaffolding? i told my builder to get up that ladder - it's only 4 stories

Gosh thats an accident waiting to happen. Scaffolding companies must be laughing their socks off at this.

Thanks for posting Dh is currently up a ladder trying to fix utility roof which blew off 3 weeks ago. The prices here are doable and no matter how rickety, I'm sure its a sight better than what we have at present, so I'll order one and then 'we' can look at making a more perm repair
