It's a bargain as long as you take into consideration the size of this tent. At almost 50kg weight you want camping fields which allow you to get a car next to your spot. At 96x68x58cm size you need a lot of boot space to fit anything else once the tent is in. From personal experience you are looking at Ford Galaxy/VW Sharan, big estate (5series BMW/ E class MB) or Large SUV ( CR-V with seats moved max to front is tight squeeze and requires advanced Tetris skills + roof rack). At 7x5m some camping fields will be too small. As long you take those into consideration you end up with a tent which gives enough space for comfortable extended family camping. To check if tent fits your car check ridc.org.uk - as part of assessing cars for disabled customers they do comprehensive measurements of boot space in various seat configurations, data which is not normally available

We looked at this and asked staff at Go Outdoors to accompany us outside with one whilst we checked it it'd fit in the boot of a Tucson...

Wow hope you have a roof box

Wow, epic deal! Just wish these came in warmer colours; blue, when stuck inside when it's dull and raining, can seem a bit cold and depressing.

It's blue by design.....best colour to resist light and UV degradation.

Also the bad thing about this is everyone has to stay in the same area so you cant split it for adults and kids, i just got the air 6.1 which is also huge but has bedrooms on each side

I see so many people commenting about how they don't like it when it's split so I guess it completely depends on situation/preference

Is the 5 person big enough for 5?

I got it today and put it up, might be a bit tight for 5 adults but it is a big tent with a decent living space and porch area. Very impressed with quality and how easy it was to put up and down.

I bought the Freedom 5 last night and got £44 tracked cashback through quidco. Its already been processed ready for despatch

I have just bought the freedom 7, footprint and carpet for £864. The topcashback has tracked at £75.60, unsure why it hasn't given 12.6% but it's better than nothing!

    Thanks OP

Apparently if I buy a dog, I can go and set up home in the shed with it. Would this be a suitable alternative?

I have the Bergaus air 6.1.xl and when it's packed away the bag is huge. I have an Octavia and our tent takes up most of the boot! Also take into account if you have to pack it away in the rain, you need some where big enough at home to set it up to dry (we just about got ours out on the drive to dry off after this Easter weekend!).

Having said that, it's a quality family tent that's easy to put up (despite its size) and has loads of room, so I would assume this is similar (although a tad bigger!). (edited)

I agree, this really tempted me when Go outdoors did this price last year but ended up going for the Vango Anantara (grey) from camping recycled for same price, the blue is just too much for me.
I like Berghaus and am a sucker for a brand but the tent hasn't got top features you would expect from this brand, like windows on the front and zip curtains, also if I remember rightly the bedroom are 2 seperate units and we prefer it all open as one. All personal preference of course!

Only just realised how good a deal this is after looking on ebay and seeing some sold recently for hundreds more (edited)

Seems a steal, possibly a misprice(?) as it's much deeper a discount than the rest of the group (go outdoors etc) who all have the same promo on.

BLC takes 10% off the footprint and carpet so the bundle is £847.50 with code, for those who are eligible.
    Mark_Hickman's avatar
Not a misprice because its also 699 at blacks and ultimate outdoors, very weird that its dropped soo much at multiple retailers, multiple have sold on ebay for hundreds more over the last few months.
Tempted to buy a few and sell them in the summer (edited)

Would you get 12.6% cashback through Topcashback with this?
  13. NicolaVWT5.1's avatar
Don't forget Go outdoors will price match and beat by 10%
    ministrymason's avatar
They won’t. It’s the same parent company. They will price match.

Most of the newer vango tents are lighter and have windows up into the roof in the living area with darker fabric over the bedroom section to make it a more pleasant lighter space and of course blackout bedrooms so there is obviously a call for it

    A further 15% off with code TENT15

Cant get the 15% off code to work on the freedom 7 tent

Put my freedom 7 up yesterday for the first time and upon trying to fold and roll it back up the stiching started to come apart on the sewn in ground sheet in one corner as we lifted it to fold.
Its a very heavy tent and very difficult to fold and get back into the bag as expected but didn't think the ground sheet would just start detaching from me grabbing that along with part of the upper tent and door to fold it over, on closer inspection i realised how poor the stritching is just a single thread and ends in the corners with a tiny single knot.
Not sure now if i can stitch over the existing thread by hand to fix it or will it still keep unthreading ?
The stitching on the tent and zips is great just the ground sheet sewn in poorly
Anyone have any ideas ? (edited)
