    Fantastic phone.

Fast, great camera, amazing video recording, insane charging speed and great battery life. (edited)

When I was shopping for phones I found out that Oppo prevent customers from unlocking the bootloader of their phones so they can run their own software. Instead you are just stuck with the malware/adware ridden mess it came with. Is this still the case?

Oppo has one of the cleanest OS I have used, I prefer it over Samsung & Xiaomi for sure.

What I'm using now. Fabulous. It's night shot abilities are some of the best, but also has some unexpected abilities like macro shots, despite not having a dedicated macro camera. It's actually the same camera setup as the pro version, so the only massive difference is this uses the Snapdragon 888 and the pro uses the g1 chip.

I got a brand new one as an upgrade to my X3 Neo as that phone was so good - the camera was amazing, especially at night, and the phone never lagged even with a relatively old Snapdragon 865 now. The Dolby Atmos tuned speakers also seemed really good and the X3 Neo was only like £150 or something.

However after receiving the X5, I've not really felt the same love for it as I did my X3 Neo. I thought the Hasselblad stuff would make the photos better but more often than not, it gets the shot a bit wrong and it's slower to load. It seems the 8GB RAM hurts it too, compared to the 12GB in the X3 Neo. For some reason when I play Genshin Impact on my X5 it also sometimes just crashes out, like it's out of RAM, whereas I never have that issue on the X3 Neo. So yeah, I'm a little disappointed as all the reviews for the X5 were pretty good. I even did benchmark comparisons and the X5 was barely better than my X3 Neo, even though reviews online show a relatively big jump between the Snapdragon 888 and the older 865.

no mention of battery status % - but grabbed one as hopefully a decent upgrade/improvement on a p30pro which has suddenly decided to stop recognising the simcard slot

IMO it's an 'OK' replacement but haven't seen it to be an upgrade as such (on p30 pro).

The only thing that has wowed me is the charging, which admittedly is excellent.

That's a brill deal. I really liked this phone. Some issues with HDR on the auto cam shots but otherwise spot on.

Can someone clarify if this phone gets hot and whether it's got a curved screen? Nevertheless a decent deal.

Are people mistaking this for the Pro version?

Don't think so. Pro is not near this price.
