There is a reason this is as cheap, if it was any good there would be painters buying this. it is like milk poor coverage

A reasonable cheap paint armsted contract matt 20 quid for 12l at toolstation.

Leyland contract matt cheaper softer finisd, please note these contract matts are not wipeable and NOT for bathrooms or kitchens.

A decent vinyl matt like johnstones TRADE at johnstones dec centres its wipeable slightly.

Or a TRADE durable matt for bathrooms and kitchens

Thanks for the info….. what would you recommend that is cleanable…… dont need to clean pen marks, but would be nice to be able to clean around light switches and in high traffic areas… would washable be better or is this an overkill

Garbage! It's like painting with Milk. Probably only ok for mist coating

    Agreed

    Leyland Trade at Screwfix.
Two x 10 Litre for £26 or £17.74 for one.
I've used both and the Crown is rubbish, couldn't get a decent finish but the Leyland worked well.

Leyland trade all the way! Great paint great value!.

Used this recently took 3 coats on ceiling and still needs another coat. Avoid

By far one of the worst paints on the market. So thin, multiple coats needed and still no good. Marks easily, not durable. Non wipeable and paint transmits as a powder onto anything brushed against it such as furniture etc. after all the effort, needed to repaint 2 entire hallways

Can someone please recommend a good pain to avoid condensation. I got in my small bedroom and most corners in the house . We’ll have to repaint the whole house this summer. Something durable please.
    Thx in advance

As a decorator I do alot of mould/damp work . I'd second the zinsser comment here. Perma white is amazing paint with anti mould/anti fungal properties. Perfect for bathrooms etc. To actually sort the issue if you can afford it get a PIV fitted in the hallway. Don't waste money on trash paint such as the one posted. Good luck

Worst branded paint I ever used.
  8. Tomtk4's avatar
This stuff is milk, like others have said, I've used this only for mist coat. Might be a sign of the times but when this was previously on offer, it was £10 not £11

Same experience as most others. Bought two 10 litres tubs. Got half way through one before calling it quits and buying some Leyland trade from screwfix. Infinitely better!

The rest of this will be saved for giving a fresh coat when needed.

    Do not buy this paint

I’m currently using this, watered down on new plaster and then all along hallway and stairs etc, I can see what people are saying about it but I have to say what I like about it is with having toddlers I’ve found it is wipeable and is very good for quick recoats, it’s a very nice flat finish but yes you need 97 coats.

Dunno about wipe able... Unless you mean it wipes off the wall with a damp cloth! Would suggest a half decent trade vinyl Matt, can clean up pretty well. Yes it's 2-3 times the price, but saves overall on number of coats required in time and cost of paint.

Mix it thoroughly with a mixing paddle and it is fine. The solids in white paint are heavy and tend to sink to the bottom of the container. The tub could have been sitting in a warehouse for 3 months before arriving at Wickes and will settle out.
Diluted 50:50 and mixed well with a paddle for a mist coat and it was perfectly acceptable.

Ah marmite flavoured paint... Not sure why some people have such a problem with it!

To repeat previous comments on this - if you're a DIYer this is great stuff, yes its thin, but thats not bad - the coverage is fine - 1 mist coat plus two coats on fresh plaster. 2 coats is fine on any prior painted surface.

We've had this in our house in every room for over 10 years and only just starting to notice fading/discolouration in heavier used rooms.

Have recently used Leyland on recommendation from here; gives no better coverage (had to use 2 coats on pre-painted walls) and personally find the extra thickness harder to use - many more lumps form much more quickly and the finish is noticeably more lumpy.

Sure trade folk who use every day have valid reasons for selecting other paints, but for DIY reckon its great at this price point.

Tried using this and gave up. Normal Dulux PBW is miles better. Get what you pay for.

I let the paint sit a bit before rollering and i managed with 2 coats to finish a wall…. As a DIYer, even if dulux trade can do it in 1 coat and i need 3 or even 4 with this one, price wise it still works for me…..

anyone have any experience with durability of this product once applied?

To be honest, used dulux one coat before and needed 2 to 3 coats which was very disappointing……. Speaking to the sales person, they told me to avoid consumer product and use trade product which is more than double the consumer product….. so now i am more driven by price as not willing to buy trade….. please do convince me otherwise …… if trade will be massively more durable, may consider puttiing a final coat of that on as the area being painted is too big to justify doing it all with multiple coats of trade

The thing with trade paints is you have to know how to use them. Consumer products are nowhere near as potent but there's a reason for that, they're plug and play,.and it's very difficult to go wrong.

Tried this recently because of the price and I wish I hadn't. It has really poor coverage; the people above obviously had the same experience too.

Leyland trade at Screwfix best bang for buck.
  17. jumbosausage's avatar
Another vote for Leyland trade. Used it throughout for mist and top coats although except for feature walls. I also like Albany paints, really good quality and bang for buck.

Leyland Trade - Selco or Screwfix.

I highly recommend wickes contract white for £7 more. Brilliant coverage and depending on what you're painting over, only need one coat.

Used Dulux brilliant white and this to paint my flat, wasn't far off the Dulux at all.

I also recommend the Wickes brand paint. It is better than some brands and I won't bother with anything else now. (edited)

Not very good paint at all, bought 2 for a decoration project, think they forgot to add the white pigment with the number of coats required.
  21. Louoe-blue's avatar
It’s like painting with milk, way too watery.
  22. suhel_uddin's avatar
I`ve used Wickes own trade paint in past & have found it to be good value for money
  23. DRRINK's avatar
    Good price
  24. GMKD's avatar
Found it was decent in 2 coats for ceiling, if the space isn't well lit. Otherwise, just a pain to work with
  25. rickycj's avatar
You have to let it sit before you paint , open it , stir it , leave for an hour and in thickens , to be honest this is the same as standard dulux, prime the walls to give better coverage , if you buy this and then just keep painting over and over of course it’s going to take long

Buy a one coat for four times the price if you only want to paint once
  26. Alin_Stinga's avatar
The worst! Do not bother!!!! (edited)
  27. zenyboy's avatar
Lol this is like painting with water
  28. QwertyTheKeyboardLegend's avatar
It's a great price but as everyone else is saying its not the best. You will be having to do a few more coats than recommended. It looks good when done but honestly try something else. It used to be good but not anymore

i have used the grey - and the colour turned out to be slightly hint of blue - wickes paint are good
  33. shawnlee's avatar
I’ve just primed two rooms with the grey and it is better than expected. Diluted down this paint takes well to new plaster, colour ain’t bad either
