Just spotted this bargain! Haven't seen it this cheap in years. A 'day' trip fare can also work out as a one night stay as well (I've done this before and gone to Disneyland). See example below:

You can also change to an earlier/later train 2 hours either side of your booked time for free on the day which is very handy.

Tesco Clubcard vouchers can also be redeemed as well, currently 3x the value until 13th June when it drops down to 2x

Excludes travel from Fri 28/04 to Mon 01/05 and from Fri 05/05 to Mon 08/05.

Blimey, we remember getting day returns for £20 prior to the pandemic, went a few times with friends to stock up on goodies. 😃

Right, now I''m definitely not doing it for £50!

Too far for me to be fair but that sounds like a nice cheeky trip

I never understood why a day return is cheaper than a normal return in few days' time. They also have special low fare if you return within 5 days. What is this about?

Excellent Deal. We just booked as we wanted some wine. Stop overnight at our favourite hotel on the beach and back the next afternoon. We also used tesco vouchers that we forgot we had. 3 x the value.
